1 The word of Jehovah came again unto me, saying, 2 Son of man, there were two women, the daughters of one mother: 3 and they played the harlot in Egypt; they played the harlot in their youth; there were their breasts pressed, and there was handled the bosom of their virginity. 4 And the names of them were Oholah the elder, and Oholibah her sister: and they became mine, and they bare sons and daughters. And as for their names, Samaria is Oholah, and Jerusalem Oholibah.

5 And Oholah played the harlot when she was mine; and she doted on her lovers, on the Assyrians her neighbors, 6 who were clothed with blue, governors and rulers, all of them desirable young men, horsemen riding upon horses. 7 And she bestowed her whoredoms upon them, the choicest men of Assyria all of them; and on whomsoever she doted, with all their idols she defiled herself. 8 Neither hath she left her whoredoms since the days of Egypt; for in her youth they lay with her, and they handled the bosom of her virginity; and they poured out their whoredom upon her. 9 Wherefore I delivered her into the hand of her lovers, into the hand of the Assyrians, upon whom she doted. 10 These uncovered her nakedness; they took her sons and her daughters; and her they slew with the sword: and she became a byword among women; for they executed judgments upon her.

11 And her sister Oholibah saw this, yet was she more corrupt in her doting than she, and in her whoredoms which were more than the whoredoms of her sister. 12 She doted upon the Assyrians, governors and rulers, her neighbors, clothed most gorgeously, horsemen riding upon horses, all of them desirable young men. 13 And I saw that she was defiled; they both took one way. 14 And she increased her whoredoms; for she saw men portrayed upon the wall, the images of the Chaldeans portrayed with vermilion, 15 girded with girdles upon their loins, with flowing turbans upon their heads, all of them princes to look upon, after the likeness of the Babylonians in Chaldea, the land of their nativity. 16 And as soon as she saw them she doted upon them, and sent messengers unto them into Chaldea. 17 And the Babylonians came to her into the bed of love, and they defiled her with their whoredom, and she was polluted with them, and her soul was alienated from them. 18 So she uncovered her whoredoms, and uncovered her nakedness: then my soul was alienated from her, like as my soul was alienated from her sister. 19 Yet she multiplied her whoredoms, remembering the days of her youth, wherein she had played the harlot in the land of Egypt. 20 And she doted upon their paramours, whose flesh is as the flesh of asses, and whose issue is like the issue of horses. 21 Thus thou calledst to remembrance the lewdness of thy youth, in the handling of thy bosom by the Egyptians for the breasts of thy youth.

22 Therefore, O Oholibah, thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Behold, I will raise up thy lovers against thee, from whom thy soul is alienated, and I will bring them against thee on every side: 23 the Babylonians and all the Chaldeans, Pekod and Shoa and Koa, and all the Assyrians with them; desirable young men, governors and rulers all of them, princes and men of renown, all of them riding upon horses. 24 And they shall come against thee with weapons, chariots, and wagons, and with a company of peoples; they shall set themselves against thee with buckler and shield and helmet round about: and I will commit the judgment unto them, and they shall judge thee according to their judgments. 25 And I will set my jealousy against thee, and they shall deal with thee in fury; they shall take away thy nose and thine ears; and thy residue shall fall by the sword: they shall take thy sons and thy daughters; and thy residue shall be devoured by the fire. 26 They shall also strip thee of thy clothes, and take away thy fair jewels. 27 Thus will I make thy lewdness to cease from thee, and thy whoredom brought from the land of Egypt; so that thou shalt not lift up thine eyes unto them, nor remember Egypt any more. 28 For thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Behold, I will deliver thee into the hand of them whom thou hatest, into the hand of them from whom thy soul is alienated; 29 and they shall deal with thee in hatred, and shall take away all thy labor, and shall leave thee naked and bare; and the nakedness of thy whoredoms shall be uncovered, both thy lewdness and thy whoredoms.

30 These things shall be done unto thee, for that thou hast played the harlot after the nations, and because thou art polluted with their idols. 31 Thou hast walked in the way of thy sister; therefore will I give her cup into thy hand. 32 Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Thou shalt drink of thy sister’s cup, which is deep and large; thou shalt be laughed to scorn and had in derision; it containeth much. 33 Thou shalt be filled with drunkenness and sorrow, with the cup of astonishment and desolation, with the cup of thy sister Samaria. 34 Thou shalt even drink it and drain it out, and thou shalt gnaw the sherds thereof, and shalt tear thy breasts; for I have spoken it, saith the Lord Jehovah. 35 Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because thou hast forgotten me, and cast me behind thy back, therefore bear thou also thy lewdness and thy whoredoms.

36 Jehovah said moreover unto me: Son of man, wilt thou judge Oholah and Oholibah? then declare unto them their abominations. 37 For they have committed adultery, and blood is in their hands; and with their idols have they committed adultery; and they have also caused their sons, whom they bare unto me, to pass through the fire unto them to be devoured. 38 Moreover this they have done unto me: they have defiled my sanctuary in the same day, and have profaned my sabbaths. 39 For when they had slain their children to their idols, then they came the same day into my sanctuary to profane it; and, lo, thus have they done in the midst of my house. 40 And furthermore ye have sent for men that come from far, unto whom a messenger was sent, and, lo, they came; for whom thou didst wash thyself, paint thine eyes, and deck thyself with ornaments, 41 and sit upon a stately bed, with a table prepared before it, whereupon thou didst set mine incense and mine oil. 42 And the voice of a multitude being at ease was with her: and with men of the common sort were brought drunkards from the wilderness; and they put bracelets upon the hands of them twain, and beautiful crowns upon their heads.

43 Then said I of her that was old in adulteries, Now will they play the harlot with her, and she with them. 44 And they went in unto her, as they go in unto a harlot: so went they in unto Oholah and unto Oholibah, the lewd women. 45 And righteous men, they shall judge them with the judgment of adulteresses, and with the judgment of women that shed blood; because they are adulteresses, and blood is in their hands. 46 For thus saith the Lord Jehovah: I will bring up a company against them, and will give them to be tossed to and fro and robbed. 47 And the company shall stone them with stones, and despatch them with their swords; they shall slay their sons and their daughters, and burn up their houses with fire. 48 Thus will I cause lewdness to cease out of the land, that all women may be taught not to do after your lewdness. 49 And they shall recompense your lewdness upon you, and ye shall bear the sins of your idols; and ye shall know that I am the Lord Jehovah.

Cap. 20:8. în Egipt, au curvit în tinerețea*Cap. 16:22. lor; acolo le-au fost strânse țâțele, acolo le-a fost atins sânul fecioresc. 4 Cea mai mare se chema Ohola și sora ei, Oholiba. Erau*Cap. 16:8,20. ale Mele și au născut fii și fiice. Ohola este Samaria; Oholiba este Ierusalimul. 5 Ohola nu Mi-a fost credincioasă; s-a aprins de dragoste pentru ibovnicii ei, după asirieni*2 Împ. 15:19;16:7;17:3.Osea 8:9., vecinii ei 6 îmbrăcați cu stofe vopsite în albastru, dregători și căpetenii, toți tineri și plăcuți, călăreți călări pe cai. 7 Ea a curvit cu ei, cu toată fruntea copiilor Asiriei; s-a spurcat cu toți aceia pentru care umbla nebună, s-a spurcat cu toți idolii lor. 8 Nu s-a lăsat nici de curviile ei*Vers. 3. din Egipt, căci aceștia se culcaseră cu ea din tinerețea ei, îi atinseseră sânul fecioresc și își vărsaseră curviile peste ea. 9 De aceea, am dat-o în mâinile ibovnicilor ei, în mâinile copiilor Asiriei*2 Împ. 17:3-6,23;18:9-11., pentru care se aprinsese de dragoste. 10 Ei i-au descoperit*Cap. 16:37,41. goliciunea, i-au luat fiii și fiicele și pe ea au ucis-o cu sabia, de i s-a dus vestea printre femei, după judecățile făcute de ei asupra ei. 11 Sora*Ier. 3:8;3:11. Cap. 16:47,51. ei Oholiba a văzut lucrul acesta și a fost mai fără frâu decât ea în patima ei și a întrecut pe soră-sa în curvii. 12 Ea s-a aprins de dragoste după copiii Asiriei*2 Împ. 16:7,10.2 Cron. 28:16-23. Cap. 16:28., după dregători*Vers. 6,23. și căpetenii, vecinii ei îmbrăcați în chip strălucit, călăreți călări pe cai, toți tineri și plăcuți. 13 Am văzut că se spurcase întocmai ca cea dintâi din amândouă. 14 Ea a mers chiar mai departe în curviile ei. A zărit pe ziduri niște zugrăveli de bărbați, niște icoane de haldeeni zugrăviți cu culoare roșie, 15 cu brâie împrejurul coapselor lor, cu turbane de felurite culori pe cap, toți având înfățișarea unor viteji, după felul babilonienilor, a căror țară de naștere este Haldeea, și s-a*2 Împ. 24:1. Cap. 16:29. aprins după ei 16 la cea dintâi privire și le-a trimis soli în Haldeea. 17 Și copiii Babilonului au venit la ea, în patul de dragoste, și au spurcat-o cu curviile lor. Așa că ea s-a spurcat cu ei și apoi inima i s-a înstrăinat*Vers. 22,28. de ei. 18 Și, când și-a dezgolit ea necurăția, și-a descoperit goliciunea, și inima*Ier. 6:8. Mea s-a înstrăinat de ea, cum se înstrăinase și de soră-sa. 19 Dar ea și-a înmulțit curviile tot mai mult, gândindu-se iarăși la zilele tinereții ei, când curvea*Vers. 3. în țara Egiptului. 20 Ea s-a aprins după niște necurați, a căror carne*Cap. 16:26. era ca a măgarilor și a căror apropiere era ca a armăsarilor. 21 Astfel, ți-ai înnoit iarăși nelegiuirile tinereții tale, când egiptenii îți strângeau țâțele, din pricina sânului tău fecioresc. 22 De aceea, Oholiba, așa vorbește Domnul Dumnezeu: ‘Iată că ațâț*Cap. 16:37. Vers. 28. împotriva ta pe ibovnicii tăi, de care ți-ai înstrăinat inima, și-i aduc din toate părțile împotriva ta: 23 pe babilonieni și pe toți haldeenii, căpitani*Ier. 50:21., voievozi și domni, și pe toți copiii Asiriei împreună cu ei, tineri*Vers. 12. și plăcuți, toți dregători și căpetenii, oameni vestiți, toți călări pe cai. 24 Ei vin împotriva ta cu arme, care și roți și cu o mulțime de popoare. Cu scut, pavăză și coifuri înaintează din toate părțile împotriva ta. Lor le încredințez judecata și te vor judeca după legile lor. 25 Te fac să-Mi simți gelozia și se vor purta cu urgie cu tine. Îți vor tăia nasul și urechile și sămânța ta va cădea lovită de sabie. Îți vor lua fiii și fiicele și ce-ți va mai rămâne va fi mâncat de foc. 26 Te*Cap. 16:39. vor dezbrăca de haine și vor lua podoabele scumpe cu care te gătești. 27 Voi*Cap. 16:41;22:15. pune astfel capăt nelegiuirilor tale și curviilor*Vers. 3,19. tale din țara Egiptului. Așa că nu-ți vei mai îndrepta privirile spre ei și nu te vei mai gândi la Egipt.’ 28 Căci așa vorbește Domnul Dumnezeu: ‘Iată, te dau în mâinile acelora pe care îi urăști*Cap. 16:37., de care ți s-a înstrăinat*Vers. 17. inima. 29 Se vor purta cu ură cu tine; îți vor ridica toate bogățiile și te vor lăsa goală*Cap. 16:39. Vers. 26., goală de tot. Rușinea necurățiilor tale se va descoperi, rușinea nelegiuirilor și curviilor tale. 30 Lucrurile acestea ți se vor întâmpla pentru că ai curvit*Cap. 6:9. cu neamurile, pentru că te-ai spurcat cu idolii lor. 31 Ai mers pe calea surorii tale, de aceea și Eu îți pun potirul*Ier. 25:15. ei în mână.’ 32 Așa vorbește Domnul Dumnezeu: ‘Vei bea potirul surorii tale, cel larg și adânc; vei ajunge de râs*Cap. 22:4,5. și de batjocură. Încape mult în el! 33 Te vei umple de beție și durere, căci potirul surorii tale Samaria este un potir de groază și spaimă! 34 Îl vei bea*Ps. 75:8.Is. 51:17. și îl vei goli, îi vei roade cioburile și-ți vei sfâșia țâțele. Căci Eu am vorbit’, zice Domnul Dumnezeu. 35 De aceea, așa vorbește Domnul Dumnezeu: ‘Pentru că M-ai uitat*Ier. 2:32;3:21;13:25. Cap. 22:12., pentru că M-ai aruncat*1 Împ. 14:9.Neem. 9:26. la spatele tău, poartă-ți și tu acum pedeapsa nelegiuirilor și curviilor tale!’" 36 Domnul mi-a zis: „Fiul omului, vrei să le judeci*Cap. 20:4;22:2. pe Ohola și pe Oholiba? Pune-le înainte urâciunile*Is. 58:1. lor! 37 Ele s-au dedat la preacurvie și pe mâinile lor este*Cap. 16:38. Vers. 45. sânge; au preacurvit cu idolii lor, și copiii pe care Mi-i*Cap. 16:20,21,36,45;20:26,31. născuseră i-au trecut prin foc în cinstea lor, ca să-i mănânce! 38 Afară de aceasta, iată ce Mi-au mai făcut: Mi-au spurcat Locașul cel Sfânt în aceeași zi și Mi-au pângărit*Cap. 22:8. Sabatele. 39 Căci după ce și-au jertfit copiii la idolii lor, tot în ziua aceea s-au dus și în Locașul Meu cel Sfânt ca să-l spurce. Iată*2 Împ. 21:4. ce au făcut în Casa Mea. 40 Au umblat chiar după oamenii care veneau de departe, le-au trimis soli*Is. 57:9. și iată că ei au venit. Pentru ei te-ai scăldat tu*Rut 3:3., te-ai sulemenit*2 Împ. 9:30.Ier. 4:30. la ochi și te-ai gătit cu podoabele tale; 41 ai șezut pe un pat măreț*Est. 1:6.Is. 57:7.Amos 2:8;6:4., înaintea căruia era întinsă o masă pe care ai pus*Prov. 7:17. Cap. 16:18,19.Osea 2:8. tămâia și untdelemnul Meu. 42 S-au auzit strigătele unei mulțimi vesele și, cu mulțimea aceasta de oameni de rând, au adus niște bețivi din pustie, care au pus brățări în mâinile celor două surori și mândre cununi pe capetele lor. 43 Am zis atunci cu privire la curva cea bătrână: ‘Și acum își va urma ea oare curviile și tot vor mai veni la ea?’ 44 Și au venit la ea cum vin la o curvă; așa s-au dus la Ohola și Oholiba, la aceste femei nelegiuite. 45 De aceea oamenii fără prihană le vor osândi*Cap. 16:38. cum se osândesc femeile preacurve, cum se osândesc cele ce varsă sânge, căci sunt preacurve și au sânge*Vers. 37. pe mâini. 46 Căci așa vorbește Domnul Dumnezeu: ‘Voi aduce*Cap. 16:40. împotriva lor o mulțime de gloată mare și le voi da pradă chinului și jafului. 47 Adunarea le va ucide*Cap. 16:40. cu pietre și le va doborî cu lovituri de sabie; le vor ucide*2 Cron. 36:17,19. Cap. 24:21. fiii și fiicele lor și le vor arde casele cu foc. 48 Voi face astfel să înceteze nelegiuirea*Cap. 22:15. Vers. 27. în țară ca*Deut. 13:11.2 Pet. 2:6. toate femeile să ia învățătură și să nu mai facă o nelegiuire ca a voastră! 49 Vi se va răsplăti astfel nelegiuirea și veți purta păcatele*Vers. 35. săvârșite cu idolii voștri și veți ști*Cap. 20:38,42,44;25:5. că Eu sunt Domnul Dumnezeu!’"
