Psalms 101

A Vow of Integrity

A psalm of David.

1 I will sing of faithful love and justice;

I will sing praise to you,  Lord.  * 101:1 Ps 89:1; 145:7

2 I will pay attention to the way of integrity.

When will you come to me?

I will live with a heart of integrity in my house.  * 101:2 1Kg 9:4; Ps 119:1

3 I will not let anything worthless guide me.  * 101:3 Lit I will not put a worthless thing in front of my eyes

I hate the practice of transgression;

it will not cling to me.  * 101:3 Dt 15:9; Ps 40:4

4 A devious heart will be far from me;

I will not be involved with  * 101:4 Lit not know  evil.  * 101:4 Pr 3:32; 14:2

5 I will destroy anyone

who secretly slanders his neighbor;  * 101:5 Ps 50:20

I cannot tolerate anyone

with haughty eyes or an arrogant heart.  * 101:5 Ps 18:27; Is 5:15

6 My eyes favor the faithful of the land

so that they may sit down with me.

The one who follows the way of integrity

may serve me.  * 101:6 Ps 119:1; Pr 11:20

7 No one who acts deceitfully

will live in my palace;

the one who tells lies

will not be retained here to guide me.  * 101:7 Lit be established in front of my eyes,* 101:7 Ps 31:18; 52:3; 63:11; Pr 29:12

8 Every morning I will destroy

all the wicked of the land,

wiping out all evildoers from the  Lord’s city.  * 101:8 Ps 119:119; Jr 21:12
