A Plea for Victory

A song. A psalm of David.

1 My heart is confident, God;

I will sing; I will sing praises

2 Wake up, harp and lyre!

I will wake up the dawn.  * 108:2 Jdg 5:12; Ps 33:2; 81:2

3 I will praise you, Lord, among the peoples;

4 For your faithful love is higher than the heavens,

and your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.  * 108:4 Ps 36:5; 103:11; Lm 3:22–23

5 God, be exalted above the heavens,  * 108:5 Ps 113:4

and let your glory be over the whole earth.  * 108:1–5 Ps 57:7–11

6 Save with your right hand and answer me

so that those you love may be rescued.  * 108:6 Ps 17:7; 20:6; 138:7

7 God has spoken in his sanctuary:  * 108:7 Or has promised by his holy nature

8 Gilead is mine, Manasseh is mine,

I throw my sandal on Edom.  * 108:9 2Sm 8:14

10 Who will bring me to the fortified city?

Who will lead me to Edom?  * 108:10 Jr 1:18

11 God, haven’t you rejected us?

God, you do not march out with our armies.  * 108:11 Ps 44:9

12 Give us aid against the foe,

for human help is worthless.  * 108:12 Ps 146:3

13 With God we will perform valiantly;  * 108:13 Nm 24:18; Ps 44:5; 118:15–16
