1 Why boast about evil, you hero 52:1 Ps 94:4

God’s faithful love is constant 52:1 Ps 40:10–11; 138:2

2 Like sharpened razor,

your tongue devises destruction,

working treachery 52:2 Ps 5:9; 50:19; 59:7

3 You love evil instead of good,

lying instead of speaking truthfully 52:3 Ps 58:3; Jr 9:4–5Selah

4 You love any words that destroy,

you treacherous tongue 52:4 Ps 10:7; Pr 17:4

5 This is why God will bring you down forever.

He will take you, ripping you out of your tent;

he will uproot you from the land of the living 52:5 Ps 27:13; Pr 2:22Selah

6 The righteous will see and fear,

and they will derisively say about that hero 52:6 Lit about him, 52:6 Jb 22:19–20; Ps 37:34

7 "Here is the man

who would not make God his refuge,

but trusted in the abundance of his riches,

taking refuge in his destructive behavior. 52:7 Ps 10:6; 49:6; Pr 11:28

8 But I am like flourishing olive tree

in the house of God 52:8 Ps 1:3; 128:3; Jr 11:16

I trust in God’s faithful love forever and ever 52:8 Ps 143:8

9 I will praise you forever for what you have done.

In the presence of your faithful people,

I will put my hope in your name, for it is good 52:9 Ps 30:12; 54:6
