Confidence in a Time of Crisis

For the choir director: according to Jeduthun. Of Asaph. # 77:title 1Ch 16:5,7 A psalm.

1 I cry aloud to God,

aloud to God, and he will hear me.  * 77:1 Ps 3:4; 142:1

2 I sought the Lord in my day of trouble.

My hands were continually lifted up

all night long;

I refused to be comforted.  * 77:2 Gn 37:35; Jb 11:13; Jr 31:15

3 I think of God; I groan;

I meditate; my spirit becomes weak.  * 77:3 Ps 42:5,11; 43:5; 55:17; 143:4Selah

4 You have kept me from closing my eyes;

I am troubled and cannot speak.  * 77:4 Ps 39:9

5 I consider days of old,

years long past.  * 77:5 Dt 32:7; Ps 143:5

6 At night I remember my music;

I meditate in my heart, and my spirit ponders.  * 77:6 Ps 4:4; 42:8

7 "Will the Lord reject forever

and never again show favor?  * 77:7 Ps 44:9,23; 74:1; Lm 2:7; 3:31

8 Has his faithful love ceased forever?

Is his promise at an end for all generations?  * 77:8 Ps 33:11; 85:5; 89:49

9 Has God forgotten to be gracious?

Has he in anger withheld his compassion? "  * 77:9 Ps 25:6; 40:11; Is 49:15Selah

10 So I say, "I am grieved

11 I will remember the  Lord’s works;

yes, I will remember your ancient wonders.  * 77:11 Ps 105:5; 143:5

12 I will reflect on all you have done

and meditate on your actions.  * 77:12 Ps 9:11; 90:16; 145:5

13 God, your way is holy.

What god is great like God?  * 77:13 Ex 15:11; Ps 71:19; 86:8

14 You are the God who works wonders;

you revealed your strength among the peoples.  * 77:14 Ps 72:18; 106:8

15 With power you redeemed your people,

the descendants of Jacob and Joseph.  * 77:15 Ex 6:6; Dt 9:29; Ps 74:2Selah

16 The water saw you, God.

The water saw you; it trembled.

Even the depths shook.  * 77:16 Ps 114:3; Hab 3:8,10

17 The clouds poured down water.

The storm clouds thundered;

18 The sound of your thunder was in the whirlwind;

19 Your way went through the sea

and your path through the vast water,

but your footprints were unseen.  * 77:19 Is 43:16
