Salmos 132

David and Zion Chosen

A song of ascents.

1 Lord, remember David

and all the hardships he endured,  * 132:1 2Sm 16:12

2 and how he swore an oath to the  Lord,

making a vow to the Mighty One of Jacob:  * 132:2 Gn 49:24; Is 49:26; 60:16

3 "I will not enter my house

or get into my bed,

4 I will not allow my eyes to sleep

or my eyelids to slumber  * 132:3–4 Pr 6:4

5 until I find a place for the  Lord,

a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob."  * 132:5 1Ch 22:7; Ac 7:46

7 Let’s go to his dwelling place;

let’s worship at his footstool.  * 132:7 1Ch 28:2; Ps 99:5

8 Rise up, Lord, come to your resting place,

you and your powerful ark.  * 132:8 2Ch 6:41; Ps 68:1; 78:61

9 May your priests be clothed with righteousness,

and may your faithful people shout for joy.  * 132:9 Jb 29:14; Ps 149:5

10 For the sake of your servant David,

do not reject your anointed one.  * 132:10 = the king,* 132:10 2Ch 6:42

11 The Lord swore an oath to David,

a promise he will not abandon:

"I will set one of your offspring  * 132:11 Lit set the fruit of your belly

on your throne.  * 132:11 2Sm 7:12–16; Ps 89:3; Ac 2:30

12 If your sons keep my covenant

and my decrees that I will teach them,

their sons will also sit on your throne forever."  * 132:12 1Kg 8:25; Lk 1:32

13 For the Lord has chosen Zion;

he has desired it for his home:  * 132:13 Ps 68:16; 78:68

14 "This is my resting place forever;

I will make my home here

because I have desired it.  * 132:14 Mt 23:21

15 I will abundantly bless its food;

I will satisfy its needy with bread.  * 132:15 Ps 107:9; 147:14

16 I will clothe its priests with salvation,

and its faithful people will shout for joy.  * 132:16 2Ch 6:41

17 There I will make a horn grow for David;  * 132:17 2Sm 23:5; Lk 1:69

I have prepared a lamp  * 132:17 Or dominion for my anointed one.  * 132:17 1Kg 11:36

18 I will clothe his enemies with shame,  * 132:18 Jb 8:22

but the crown he wears  * 132:18 Lit but on him his crown will be glorious."  * 132:18 Ps 21:3
