Salmos 21

The King’s Victory

For the choir director. A psalm of David.

1 Lord, the king finds joy in your strength.

How greatly he rejoices in your victory 21:1 Ps 28:7–8; 59:16–17

2 You have given him his heart’s desire  21:2 Ps 20:4; 145:19

and have not denied the request of his lips 21:2 Ps 20:5; 1Pt 3:12Selah

3 For you meet him with rich blessings;

you place a crown of pure gold on his head 21:3 2Sm 12:30; 1Ch 20:2

4 He asked you for life, and you gave it to him

length of days forever and ever 21:4 Ps 61:6; 91:16

5 His glory is great through your victory;

you confer majesty and splendor on him 21:5 Ps 8:5; 96:6

6 You give him blessings forever 21:6 1Ch 17:27

you cheer him with joy in your presence 21:6 Ps 16:11

7 For the king relies on the  Lord;

through the faithful love of the Most High

he is not shaken 21:7 Ps 10:6; 16:8

8 Your hand will capture all your enemies;

your right hand will seize those who hate you 21:8 Ex 15:6; Is 10:10

9 You will make them burn

like fiery furnace when you appear;

the Lord will engulf them in his wrath,

and fire will devour them 21:9 Ps 50:3; 97:3; Mal 4:1

10 You will wipe their progeny from the earth

and their offspring from the human race 21:10 Or the descendants of Adam, 21:10 1Kg 13:34; Ps 37:28; Is 14:20

11 Though they intend to harm  21:11 Lit they stretch out harm against  you

and devise wicked plan, they will not prevail 21:11 Ps 2:1–3; 7:15–16; 10:2

12 Instead, you will put them to flight

when you ready your bowstrings to shoot at them 21:12 Ps 7:12

13 Be exalted, Lord, in your strength;

we will sing and praise your might 21:13 Ps 59:16; 81:1
