Why are you so far from my deliverance  * 22:1 Ps 10:1

2 My God, I cry by day, but you do not answer,

by night, yet I have no rest.  * 22:2 Ps 42:3; 88:1

3 But you are holy,

enthroned on the praises of Israel.  * 22:3 Ps 99:3

4 Our ancestors trusted in you;

they trusted, and you rescued them.  * 22:4 Ps 107:6

5 They cried to you and were set free;

they trusted in you and were not disgraced.  * 22:5 Ps 25:2; 31:1; 71:1; Is 49:23

6 But I am a worm and not a man,  * 22:6 Jb 25:6

scorned by mankind and despised by people.  * 22:6 Ps 109:25; Is 53:3

7 Everyone who sees me mocks me;

let him save him;

9 It was you who brought me out of the womb,

making me secure at my mother’s breast.  * 22:9 Ps 71:6

10 I was given over to you at birth;  * 22:10 Lit was cast on you from the womb

11 Don’t be far from me, because distress is near

12 Many bulls surround me;

strong ones of Bashan encircle me.  * 22:12 Ps 68:30; Am 4:1

13 They open their mouths against me —

lions, mauling and roaring.  * 22:13 Ps 10:9; 17:12

14 I am poured out like water,  * 22:14 Jb 30:16

my heart is like wax,

15 My strength is dried up like baked clay;  * 22:15 Ps 38:10

a gang of evildoers has closed in on me;

17 I can count all my bones;

18 They divided my garments among themselves,

19 But you, Lord, don’t be far away.  * 22:19 Ps 10:1

20 Rescue my life from the sword,  * 22:20 Jr 39:18

from the horns of wild oxen.

22 I will proclaim your name to my brothers and sisters;

All you descendants of Jacob, honor him!

24 For he has not despised or abhorred

He did not hide his face from him  * 22:24 Ezk 39:29

but listened when he cried to him for help.  * 22:24 Ps 28:2

25 I will give praise in the great assembly

I will fulfill my vows

26 The humble will eat and be satisfied;  * 22:26 Ps 107:9

those who seek the  Lord will praise him.

27 All the ends of the earth will remember

and turn to the  Lord.

All the families of the nations

will bow down before you,  * 22:27 Ps 2:8; 86:9

28 for kingship belongs to the  Lord;

he rules the nations.  * 22:28 1Ch 16:31; 2Ch 20:6; Mal 1:14; Rv 15:3

29 All who prosper on earth will eat and bow down;

all those who go down to the dust

will kneel before him —

even the one who cannot preserve his life.  * 22:29 Is 45:23; Rm 14:11; Php 2:10

30 Their descendants will serve him;

the next generation will be told about the Lord.  * 22:30 Ps 102:18,28

31 They will come and declare his righteousness;

to a people yet to be born

they will declare what he has done.  * 22:31 Ps 71:18; 78:6
