A psalm of David.

1 Ascribe to the Lord, you heavenly beings,  * 29:1 Or you sons of gods, or you sons of mighty ones

ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.

2 Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name;

worship the Lord

in the splendor of his holiness.  * 29:2 Or in holy attire, or in holy appearance,* 29:1–2 1Ch 16:28–29; Ps 96:7–9

3 The voice of the  Lord is above the waters.

The God of glory thunders —

the Lord, above the vast water,  * 29:3 Jb 37:4–5; Ps 18:13; 104:7

4 the voice of the  Lord in power,

the voice of the  Lord in splendor.  * 29:4 Ps 68:33

5 The voice of the  Lord breaks the cedars;

the Lord shatters the cedars of Lebanon.  * 29:5 Ps 104:16

6 He makes Lebanon skip like a calf,  * 29:6 Ps 114:4,6

and Sirion, like a young wild ox.  * 29:6 Dt 3:8–9

7 The voice of the  Lord flashes flames of fire.  * 29:7 Dt 4:12,33

8 The voice of the  Lord shakes the wilderness;

the Lord shakes the wilderness of Kadesh.  * 29:8 Nm 13:26

9 The voice of the  Lord makes the deer give birth  * 29:9 Or the oaks shake,* 29:9 Jb 39:1–3

and strips the woodlands bare.  * 29:9 Is 24:1,3

In his temple all cry, "Glory! "

10 The Lord sits enthroned over the flood;

the Lord sits enthroned, King forever.  * 29:10 Ps 9:7; 10:16

11 The Lord gives his people strength;  * 29:11 Ps 10:17; 28:8; 68:35

the Lord blesses his people with peace.  * 29:11 Php 4:7
