Security in God

1 God, hear my cry;

pay attention to my prayer.  * 61:1 Ps 17:1; 88:2; 142:6

2 I call to you from the ends of the earth

when my heart is without strength.  * 61:2 Ps 88:4

Lead me to a rock that is high above me,  * 61:2 Ps 27:5

3 for you have been a refuge for me,

a strong tower  * 61:3 Pr 18:10 in the face of the enemy.

4 I will dwell in your tent forever

5 God, you have heard my vows;  * 61:5 Jb 22:27; Ps 56:12

you have given a heritage

to those who fear your name.  * 61:5 Mal 4:2

6 Add days to the king’s life;

may his years span many generations.  * 61:6 Ps 21:4

7 May he sit enthroned before God forever.  * 61:7 Ps 41:12

Appoint faithful love and truth to guard him.  * 61:7 Ps 40:11

8 Then I will continually sing of your name,  * 61:8 Ps 7:17; 9:2; 18:49
