1 I will thank the Lord with all my heart;

2 I will rejoice and boast about you;  * 9:2 Ps 5:11

I will sing about your name, Most High.  * 9:2 Ps 7:17; 92:1

3 When my enemies retreat,

4 For you have upheld my just cause;  * 9:4 1Kg 8:45,49,59; 2Ch 6:35,39

you are seated on your throne as a righteous judge.  * 9:4 Ps 7:11

5 You have rebuked the nations:  * 9:5 Is 17:3

You have destroyed the wicked;  * 9:5 Ps 68:2

you have erased their name forever and ever.  * 9:5 Zch 13:2

6 The enemy has come to eternal ruin;

you have uprooted the cities,

and the very memory of them has perished.  * 9:6 Ps 34:16

7 But the Lord sits enthroned forever;  * 9:7 Ps 29:10; 102:12; Lm 5:19

he has established his throne for judgment.  * 9:7 Ps 89:14

8 And he judges the world with righteousness;

he executes judgment on the nations with fairness.  * 9:8 Ps 96:13; 98:9; Rv 19:11

9 The Lord is a refuge for the persecuted,

a refuge in times of trouble.  * 9:9 Ps 14:6; Is 14:32

10 Those who know your name trust in you

because you have not abandoned

those who seek you, Lord.  * 9:10 Ps 37:28; 94:14

11 Sing to the Lord, who dwells in Zion;  * 9:11 Ps 76:2

proclaim his deeds among the nations.  * 9:11 1Ch 16:8; Ps 105:1

12 For the one who seeks an accounting

for bloodshed remembers them;  * 9:12 Gn 9:5

he does not forget the cry of the oppressed.  * 9:12 Ps 12:5; Pr 22:22–23

13 Be gracious to me, Lord;

consider my affliction at the hands of those who hate me.  * 9:13 Ps 69:14

Lift me up from the gates of death,  * 9:13 Ps 30:3; 86:13

14 so that I may declare all your praises.

I will rejoice in your salvation  * 9:14 1Sm 2:1

within the gates of Daughter Zion.

15 The nations have fallen into the pit they made;

16 The Lord has made himself known;

he has executed justice,  * 9:16 Is 56:1

snaring the wicked

17 The wicked will return to Sheol  * 9:17 Ps 31:17; 49:14; 55:15  —

18 For the needy will not always be forgotten;

19 Rise up, Lord! Do not let mere humans prevail;

let the nations be judged in your presence.  * 9:19 Ps 82:8; 110:6
