Psalms 95

Worship and Warning

1 Come, let’s shout joyfully to the  Lord,

shout triumphantly to the rock of our salvation!  * 95:1 Jb 38:7; Ps 81:1; 98:4,6

2 Let’s enter his presence with thanksgiving;

let’s shout triumphantly to him in song.  * 95:2 Ps 100:4; Jnh 2:9

3 For the Lord is a great God,

a great King above all gods.  * 95:3 Dt 10:17; Ps 47:2; 96:4

4 The depths of the earth are in his hand,

and the mountain peaks are his.  * 95:4 Ps 135:6

5 The sea is his; he made it.

His hands formed the dry land.  * 95:5 Gn 1:9–10; Ps 146:6; Jnh 1:9

6 Come, let’s worship and bow down;

let’s kneel before the  Lord our Maker.  * 95:6 Ps 96:9; 100:3; Is 17:7

7 For he is our God,

and we are the people of his pasture,

8 Do not harden your hearts as at Meribah,

as on that day at Massah in the wilderness  * 95:8 Ex 17:7; Dt 6:16

9 where your ancestors tested me;

they tried me, though they had seen what I did.  * 95:9 Nm 14:22; Ps 78:18

10 For forty years I was disgusted with that generation;

I said, "They are a people whose hearts go astray;

11 So I swore in my anger,
