1 Cantico di Maalot. QUELLI che si confidano nel Signore, Son come il monte di Sion, il quale non può essere smosso, E che dimora in perpetuo.

2 Come Gerusalemme è intorniata di monti, Così il Signore è intorno al suo popolo, Da ora in eterno.

3 Perciocchè la verga d’empietà non riposerà in perpetuo Sopra la sorte de’ giusti; Acciocchè talora i giusti non mettano le lor mani ad alcuna iniquità

4 O Signore, fa’ bene a’ buoni, Ed a quelli che son diritti ne’ lor cuori.

5 Ma, quant’è a quelli che deviano dietro alle loro obliquità, Scaccili il Signore con gli operatori d’iniquità. Pace sia sopra Israele

1 [A Song of degrees.] They that confide in Jehovah are as mount Zion, which cannot be moved; it abideth for ever.

2 Jerusalem! -mountains are round about her, and Jehovah is round about his people, from henceforth and for evermore.

3 For the sceptre of wickedness shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous; lest the righteous put forth their hands unto iniquity.

4 Do good, O Jehovah, unto the good, and to them that are upright in their hearts.

5 But as for such as turn aside unto their crooked ways, Jehovah will lead them forth with the workers of iniquity. Peace be upon Israel!
