1 Desperta, desperta, Sião, reveste-te de força. Põe a tua melhor roupa, ó Jerusalém, cidade santa; porque os incircuncisos nunca mais entrarão pelas tuas portas.2 Levanta-te do pó do chão, Jerusalém; tira a corda da escravidão do teu pescoço, ó filha cativa de Sião.3 Porque o Senhor diz: Foram levados para o exílio sem nenhuma indemnização. Também serão resgatados sem nada pagar.4 O meu povo foi tiranizado sem causa, pelo Egipto e pela Assíria.5 E agora, que é isto? - pergunta o Senhor. Porque está de novo escravizado o meu povo? Porque está ele oprimido de novo sem justificação alguma?6 Os que os governam dão uivos de exaltação, e o meu nome é constantemente blasfemado, dia após dia. Contudo revelarei o poder do meu nome ao meu povo, e conhecerão a virtude que há nele. E por fim hão-de reconhecer que sou eu, sim, eu, quem fala com eles.7 Como são belos, sobre as montanhas, os pés dos que trazem as felizes notícias de paz e salvação, as boas novas, dizendo a Sião: O teu Deus reina!8 A sentinela de vigia levanta a voz e canta de alegria, porque mesmo ali perante os seus olhos o Senhor Deus está a trazer o seu povo de regresso outra vez. Que as próprias ruínas de Jerusalém rompam em cânticos de felicidade, pois que o Senhor confortou o seu povo; remiu Jerusalém.10 O Senhor arregaçou a manga do seu forte e santo braço aos olhos de todas as nações. Até as extremidades da terra hão-de ver a salvação do nosso Deus.11 Vamos então, deixem as vossas cadeias e a escravidão. Lancem Babilónia e tudo o que ela representa bem para trás - é algo de impuro para vocês, pois que são o povo santo do Senhor; purifiquem-se, todos os que levam os santos recipientes do Senhor.12 E não será precipitadamente que hão-de sair de lá, como se fosse fugindo para salvar as vidas. Não, porque é o Senhor quem vai à vossa frente; e ele, o Deus de Israel, vos protegerá, até mesmo também à retaguarda.13 Reparem: o meu Servo prosperará; será altamente exaltado!14 Tal como muitos ficaram pasmados ao vê-lo, sim, até as nações mais distantes, e os seus governantes, ficarão como que emudecidos na sua presença! Porque verão aquilo que não lhes tinha sido dito anteriormente, e compreenderão o que não lhes fora anunciado. Verão o meu servo tão desfigurado que dificilmente se perceberá que se trata duma figura humana ali presente. Mas é assim que ele limpará muitas nações.

1 Awake, awake, put on your strength, O Zion; put on your beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city: for from now on there will no more come into you the uncircumcised and the unclean.2 Shake yourself from the dust; arise, sit [on your throne], O Jerusalem: the bonds of your neck became loosened, O captive daughter of Zion.3 For thus says Yahweh, You{+} were sold for nothing; and you{+} will be redeemed without money.4 For thus says the Sovereign Yahweh, My people went down at the first into Egypt to sojourn there: and the Assyrian has oppressed them without cause.5 Now therefore, what do I have here, says Yahweh, seeing that my people are taken away for nothing? Those who rule over them howl, says Yahweh, and my name is blasphemed continually all the day.6 Therefore my people will know my name: therefore [they will know] in that day that I am he who speaks; look, it is I.7 How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace, who brings good news of good [things], who publishes salvation, who says to Zion, Your God reigns!8 The voice of your watchmen! They lift up the voice, together they sing; for they will see eye to eye, when Yahweh returns to Zion.9 Break forth into joy, sing together, you{+} waste places of Jerusalem; for Yahweh has comforted his people, he has redeemed Jerusalem.10 Yahweh has made bare his holy arm in the eyes of all the nations; and all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.11 Depart{+}, depart{+}, go{+} out from there, touch no unclean thing; go{+} out of the midst of her; cleanse yourselves, you{+} who bear the vessels of Yahweh.12 For you{+} will not go out in a hurry, neither will you{+} go by flight: for Yahweh will go before you{+}; and the God of Israel will be your{+} rearward.13 Look, my slave will deal wisely, he will be exalted and lifted up, and will be very high.14 Just as many were astonished at you, so [is his] anointing more than a man, his appearance and form more than sons of man.15 So he will sprinkle many nations; kings will shut their mouths at him: for that which had not been told to them they will see; and that which they had not heard they will understand.
