Atos dos Apóstolos 11

1 mapa And the apostles and brethren that were in Judea, heard that the Gentiles also had received the word of God. Meghallák azonban az apostolok és a Júdeában levõ atyafiak, hogy a pogányok is bevették az Istennek beszédét.
2 mapa And when Peter had come to Jerusalem, they that were of the circumcision contended with him, Mikor azért felment Péter Jeruzsálembe, vetekedének õ vele a zsidóságból valók,
3 Saying, Thou wentest in to men uncircumcised, and didst eat with them. Mondván: Körülmetéletlen emberekhez mentél be, és együtt ettél velük.
4 But Peter rehearsed the matter from the beginning, and expounded it by order to them, saying, Elkezdvén pedig Péter, megmagyarázta nékik rendre, mondván:
5 mapa I was in the city of Joppa praying: and in a trance I saw a vision, A certain vessel descend, as it had been a great sheet, let down from heaven by four corners; and it came even to me: Én Joppé városában imádkozám; és láték elragadtatásban egy látást, valami alászálló edényt, mint egy nagy lepedõt, négy sarkánál fogva leeresztve az égbõl; és egészen hozzám szálla:
6 Upon which when I had fastened my eyes, I considered, and saw four-footed beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping animals, and fowls of the air. Melyre szememet rávetve megnézém, és látám a földi négylábú állatokat, a vadakat és a csúszómászókat és az égi madarakat.
7 And I heard a voice saying to me, Arise, Peter; slay and eat. Hallék pedig szót [is], mely ezt mondja vala nékem: Kelj fel Péter, öljed és egyél!
8 But I said, Not so, Lord: for nothing common or unclean hath at any time entered into my mouth. Mondék azonban: Semmiképen sem, Uram; mert soha semmi közönséges vagy tisztátalan nem ment be az én számba.
9 But the voice answered me again from heaven, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common. Felele pedig nékem a szózat másodszor az égbõl: A miket az Isten megtisztított, te ne mondd tisztátalanoknak.
10 And this was done three times: and all were drawn up again into heaven. Ez pedig három ízben történt; és ismét felvonaték az egész az égbe.
11 mapa And behold, immediately there were three men already come to the house where I was, sent from Cesarea to me. És ímé, azonnal három férfiú érkezék a házhoz, melyben valék, kik Czézáreából küldettek én hozzám.
12 And the Spirit bade me go with them, nothing doubting. Moreover, these six brethren accompanied me, and we entered into the man's house: Mondá pedig nékem a Lélek, hogy menjek el velök minden kételkedés nélkül. Eljöve pedig velem ez a hat atyafi is; és bemenénk annak az embernek a házába:
13 mapa And he showed us how he had seen an angel in his house, who stood and said to him, Send men to Joppa, and call for Simon, whose surname is Peter; És elbeszélé nékünk, mimódon látta, a mint az angyal megálla az õ házában és ezt mondá néki: Küldj embereket Joppéba, és hívasd magadhoz Simont, ki Péternek neveztetik;
14 Who shall tell thee words, by which thou and all thy house shall be saved. Õ szólni fog hozzád olyan ígéket, melyek által megtartatol te és a te egész házadnépe.
15 And as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell on them, as on us at the beginning. Mikor pedig én elkezdtem szólni, leszálla a Szent Lélek õ reájok, miképen mi reánk is kezdetben.
16 Then I remembered the word of the Lord, how he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit. Megemlékezém pedig az Úrnak ama mondásáról, a mint mondá: János ugyan vízzel keresztelt, ti azonban Szent Lélekkel fogtok megkereszteltetni.
17 Forasmuch then as God gave them the like gift as he did to us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, what was I that I could withstand God? Ha tehát az Isten hasonló ajándékát adta nékik, mint nékünk is, kik hittünk az Úr Jézus Krisztusban, kicsoda voltam én, hogy az Istent eltilthattam volna?
18 When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance to life. Ezeknek hallatára aztán megnyugovának, és dicsõíték az Istent, mondván: Eszerint hát a pogányoknak is adott az Isten megtérést az életre!
19 mapa Now they who were dispersed upon the persecution that arose about Stephen traveled as far as Phenice, and Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the word to none but to the Jews only. Azok tehát, a kik eloszlottak az üldözés miatt, mely Istvánért támadott, eljutának Fenicziáig, Cziprusig és Antiókhiáig, senkinek nem prédikálván az ígét, hanem csak a zsidóknak.
20 mapa And some of them were men of Cyprus and Cyrene, who when they had come to Antioch, spoke to the Grecians, preaching the Lord Jesus. Voltak azonban közöttük némely cziprusi és czirénei férfiak, kik mikor Antiókhiába bementek, szólának a görögöknek, hirdetve az Úr Jézust.
21 And the hand of the Lord was with them: and a great number believed, and turned to the Lord. És az Úrnak keze vala velök; és nagy sokaság tére meg az Úrhoz, hívõvé lévén.
22 mapa Then tidings of these things came to the ears of the church which was in Jerusalem: and they sent forth Barnabas, that he should go as far as Antioch. Elhatott pedig a hír õ felõlük a jeruzsálemi gyülekezet fülébe; és kiküldék Barnabást, hogy menjen el egész Antiókhiáig.
23 Who, when he came, and had seen the grace of God, was glad, and exhorted them all that with purpose of heart they would cleave to the Lord. Ki mikor oda jutott és látta az Isten kegyelmét, örvendeze; és inté mindnyájukat, hogy állhatatos szívvel maradjanak meg az Úrban.
24 For he was a good man, and full of the Holy Spirit, and of faith: and many people were added to the Lord. Mert jámbor és Szent Lélekkel és hittel teljes férfiú vala õ. És nagy sokaság csatlakozék az Úrhoz.
25 mapa Then Barnabas departed to Tarsus, to seek Saul: Elméne pedig Barnabás Tárzusba, hogy felkeresse Saulust, és rátalálván, elvivé õt Antiókhiába.
26 mapa And when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught many people. And the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch. És lõn, hogy õk egy egész esztendeig forgolódtak a gyülekezetben, és tanítottak nagy sokaságot; és a tanítványokat elõször Antiókhiában nevezték keresztyéneknek.
27 mapa And in these days came prophets from Jerusalem to Antioch. Ez idõtájban pedig menének Jeruzsálembõl Antiókhiába próféták.
28 And there stood up one of them named Agabus, and signified by the Spirit that there should be great dearth throughout all the world: which came to pass in the days of Claudius Cesar. Felkelvén pedig egy azok közül, névszerint Agabus, megjelenté a Lélek által, hogy az egész föld kerekségén nagy éhség lesz; a mely meg is lõn Klaudius császár idejében.
29 mapa Then the disciples, every man according to his ability, determined to send relief to the brethren who dwelt in Judea. A tanítványok pedig elhatározták, hogy a szerint, a mint kinek-kinek közöttük módjában áll, küldenek valamit segítségül a Júdeában lakozó atyafiaknak:
30 Which also they did, and sent it to the elders by the hands of Barnabas and Saul. A mit meg is cselekedének, elküldvén a vénekhez Barnabás és Saulus keze által.
