Atos dos Apóstolos 25

1 mapa Now when Festus had come into the province, after three days he ascended from Cesarea to Jerusalem. Festus tehát, miután bement a tartományba, három nap mulva felméne Jeruzsálembe Czézáreából.
2 Then the high priest and the chief of the Jews informed him against Paul, and besought him, Panaszt tõnek pedig néki a fõpap és a zsidók fõemberei Pál ellen, és kérék õt,
3 mapa And desired favor against him, that he would send for him to Jerusalem, laying wait in the way to kill him. Kérvén magok számára jóindulatát õ ellene, hogy hozassa át õt Jeruzsálembe, lest vetvén, hogy megölhessék õt az úton.
4 mapa But Festus answered, that Paul should be kept at Cesarea, and that he himself would depart shortly thither. Festus azonban azt felelé, hogy Pált Czézáreában õrzik, õ maga pedig csakhamar ki fog menni:
5 Let them therefore, said he, who among you are able, go down with me, and accuse this man, if there is any wickedness in him. A kik azért köztetek, úgymond, fõemberek, velem alájõvén, ha valami gonoszság van abban a férfiúban, emeljenek vádat ellene.
6 mapa And when he had tarried among them more than ten days, he went down to Cesarea; and the next day sitting on the judgment-seat, commanded Paul to be brought. Miután pedig tíz napnál tovább idõzött közöttük, lemenvén Czézáreába, másnap ítélõszékibe üle, és Pált elõhozatá.
7 mapa And when he had come, the Jews who came down from Jerusalem stood around, and laid many and grievous complaints against Paul, which they could not prove; Mikor pedig az megjelent, körülállák a zsidók, kik alámentek vala Jeruzsálembõl, sok és súlyos vádat hozván fel Pál ellen, melyeket nem bírtak bebizonyítani;
8 While he answered for himself, Neither against the law of the Jews, neither against the temple, nor yet against Cesar have I committed any offense. Mivelhogy õ a maga mentségére ezt feleli vala: Sem a zsidók törvénye ellen, sem a templom ellen, sem a császár ellen semmit sem vétettem.
9 mapa But Festus, willing to do the Jews a pleasure, answered Paul, and said, Wilt thou go to Jerusalem, and there be judged concerning these things before me? Festus pedig a zsidóknak kedveskedni akarván, felelvén Pálnak, monda: Akarsz-é Jeruzsálembe felmenni és ott ítéltetni meg ezekrõl én elõttem?
10 Then said Paul, I stand at Cesar's tribunal, where I ought to be judged: to the Jews have I done no wrong, as thou very well knowest. Pál azonban monda: A császár ítélõszéke elõtt állok, itt kell nékem megítéltetnem. A zsidóknak semmit sem vétettem, miként te is jól tudod.
11 For if I am an offender, or have committed any thing worthy of death, I refuse not to die: but if there is none of these things of which these accuse me, no man may deliver me to them. I appeal to Cesar. Mert ha vétkes vagyok és valami halálra méltót cselekedtem, nem vonakodom a haláltól; ha azonban semmi sincs azokban, a mikkel ezek vádolnak engem, senki sem ajándékozhat oda engem azoknak. A császárra appellálok!
12 Then Festus, when he had conferred with the council, answered, Hast thou appealed to Cesar? to Cesar thou shalt go. Akkor Festus tanácsával értekezvén, felele: A császárra appelláltál, a császár elé fogsz menni!
13 mapa And after certain days, king Agrippa and Bernice came to Cesarea, to salute Festus. Néhány nap elmúltával pedig Agrippa király és Bernicé érkezék Czézáreába, hogy köszöntsék Festust.
14 And when they had been there many days, Festus declared Paul's cause to the king, saying, There is a certain man left in bonds by Felix: Mikor pedig több napig idõztek ott, Festus elébe adá a királynak a Pál dolgát, mondván: Van itt egy férfiú, kit Félix hagyott fogva.
15 mapa About whom, when I was at Jerusalem, the chief priests and the elders of the Jews informed me, desiring to have judgment against him. Ki felõl, mikor Jeruzsálembe mentem, jelentést tõnek a fõpapok és a zsidóknak vénei, kérve õ ellene ítéletet.
16 To whom I answered, It is not the manner of the Romans to deliver any man to die, before he who is accused hath the accusers face to face, and hath license to answer for himself concerning the crime laid against him. Kiknek azt felelém, hogy nem szokásuk a rómaiaknak, hogy valamely embert halálra adjanak, mielõtt a vádlott szembe nem állíttatik vádlóival, és alkalmat nem nyer a vád felõl való mentségére.
17 Therefore, when they had come hither, without any delay on the morrow I sat on the judgment-seat, and commanded the man to be brought forth; Mikor azért õk ide gyûltek, minden haladék nélkül másnap az ítélõszékbe ülvén, elõhozatám azt a férfiút,
18 Against whom, when the accusers stood up, they brought no accusation of such things as I supposed: Ki ellen, mikor vádlói elõálltak, semmi bûnt nem hoztak fel azok közül, a miket én sejtettem:
19 But had certain questions against him of their own superstition, and of one Jesus who was dead, whom Paul affirmed to be alive. Hanem valami vitás kérdéseik valának õ vele az õ tulajdon babonaságuk felõl, és bizonyos megholt Jézus felõl, kirõl Pál azt állítja vala, hogy él.
20 mapa And because I doubted of such manner of questions, I asked him whether he would go to Jerusalem, and there be judged concerning these matters. Én pedig bizonytalanságban lévén az e felõl való vitára nézve, kérdém, vajjon akar-é Jeruzsálembe menni, és ott ítéltetni meg ezek felõl.
21 But when Paul had appealed to be reserved to the hearing of Augustus, I commanded him to be kept till I might send him to Cesar. Pál azonban appellálván, hogy õ Augustus döntésére tartassék fenn, parancsolám, hogy tartassék fogva, míg õt a császárhoz nem küldhetem.
22 Then Agrippa said to Festus, I would also hear the man myself. To-morrow, said he, thou shalt hear him. Agrippa pedig monda Festusnak: Szeretném magam is azt az embert hallani. Õ pedig monda: Holnap meg fogod õt hallani.
23 And on the morrow, when Agrippa had come, and Bernice, with great pomp, and had entered into the place of hearing, with the chief captains and principal men of the city, at the command of Festus Paul was brought forth. Másnap tehát eljõvén Agrippa és Bernicé nagy pompával, és bemenvén a kihallgatási terembe az ezredesekkel és a város fõfõpolgáraival együtt, Festus parancsolatjára elõhozák Pált.
24 mapa And Festus said, King Agrippa, and all men who are here present with us, ye see this man about whom all the multitude of the Jews have dealt with me, both at Jerusalem, and also here, crying that he ought not to live any longer. És monda Festus: Agrippa király, és ti férfiak mindnyájan, kik velünk egybe itt vagytok! Látjátok õt, ki felõl a zsidóknak egész sokasága megkeresett engem, mind Jeruzsálemben, mind itt, azt kiáltva, hogy nem kell néki tovább élnie.
25 But when I found that he had committed nothing worthy of death, and that he himself hath appealed to Augustus, I have determined to send him. Én pedig, ámbár megértém, hogy semmi halálra méltó dolgot sem cselekedett, de mivel éppen õ maga appellált Augustusra, elvégeztem, hogy elküldöm õt.
26 Of whom I have no certain thing to write to my lord. Wherefore I have brought him forth before you, and specially before thee, O king Agrippa, that after examination had, I may have somewhat to write. Ki felõl nem tudok valami bizonyost írni az én uramnak. Ezért hoztam õt elõtökbe, és kiváltképen te elõdbe, Agrippa király, hogy a kihallgatás megtörténtével tudjak mit írni.
27 For it seemeth to me unreasonable to send a prisoner, and not also to signify the crimes laid against him. Mert esztelen dolognak látszik nékem, hogy a ki foglyot küld, az ellene való vádakat is meg ne jelentse.
