Atos dos Apóstolos 18

1 mapa After these things, Paul departed from Athens, and came to Corinth; Ezekután Pál Athénbõl eltávozván, méne Korinthusba.
2 mapa And found a certain Jew named Aquila, born in Pontus, lately come from Italy, with his wife Priscilla (because that Claudius had commanded all Jews to depart from Rome) and he came to them. És mikor egy Akvila nevû, pontusi származású zsidóra talált, ki nem régen jött Itáliából, és feleségére Prisczillára (mivelhogy Klaudius megparancsolta vala, hogy a zsidók mind távozzanak Rómából): hozzájuk csatlakozék.
3 And because he was of the same occupation, he abode with them, and wrought (for by their occupation they were tent-makers) És mivelhogy azonféle míves vala, náluk marada és dolgozik vala. Mesterségökre nézve ugyanis sátorcsinálók valának.
4 And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks. Vetekedék pedig minden szombaton a zsinagógában, és igyekezék mind zsidókat, mind görögöket meggyõzni.
5 mapa And when Silas and Timothy had come from Macedonia, Paul was pressed in spirit, and testified to the Jews, that Jesus was Christ. Mikor pedig megérkeztek Maczedóniából Silás és Timótheus, szorongatá a lélek Pált, és bizonyságot tõn a zsidóknak, hogy Jézus a Krisztus.
6 And when they opposed themselves, and blasphemed, he shook his raiment, and said to them, Your blood be upon your own heads: I am clean: from henceforth I will go to the Gentiles. Mikor pedig azok ellenszegülének és káromlásokat szólának, ruháit megrázva monda nékik: Véretek a fejetekre; én tiszta vagyok: mostantól fogva a pogányokhoz megyek.
7 And he departed thence, and entered into the house of a certain man named Justus, one that worshiped God, whose house joined close to the synagogue. És általmenvén onnét, méne egy Justus nevû, istenfélõ ember házához, kinek háza szomszédos vala a zsinagógával.
8 And Crispus the chief ruler of the synagogue believed on the Lord with all his house: and many of the Corinthians hearing, believed, and were baptized. Krispus pedig, a zsinagógának feje hûn az Úrban egész házanépével egybe; a Korinthusbeliek közül is sokan hallván, hisznek vala, és megkeresztelkednek vala.
9 Then the Lord spoke to Paul in the night by a vision, Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace: Monda pedig az Úr látás által éjszaka Pálnak: Ne félj, hanem szólj és ne hallgass:
10 For I am with thee, and no man shall lay hands on thee, to hurt thee: for I have many people in this city. Mert én veled vagyok és senki sem támad reád, hogy néked ártson; mert nékem sok népem van ebben a városban.
11 And he continued there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them. És ott lakozék egy esztendeig és hat hónapig, tanítva köztük az Isten ígéjét.
12 mapa And when Gallio was the deputy of Achaia, the Jews made insurrection with one accord against Paul, and brought him to the judgment-seat, Mikor pedig Gallió volt Akhája tiszttartója, reátámadának a zsidók egyakarattal Pálra, és vivék õt a törvényszék elébe,
13 Saying, This man persuadeth men to worship God contrary to the law. Mondván: Ez a törvény ellen való istentiszteletre csábítja az embereket.
14 And when Paul was now about to open his mouth, Gallio said to the Jews, If it were a matter of wrong, or hainous crime, O ye Jews, reason would that I should bear with you: Mikor pedig Pál meg akará nyitni száját, monda Gallió a zsidóknak: Ha valóban valami bosszútételrõl, vagy gonosz cselekedetrõl volna szó, zsidók, igazság szerint meghallgatnálak benneteket:
15 But if it is a question of words and names, and of your law, look ye to it: for I will be no judge of such matters. De ha tanításról, nevekrõl és a ti törvénytekrõl van kérdés, ti magatok lássátok; mert én ezekben bíró nem akarok lenni.
16 And he drove them from the judgment-seat. És elûzé õket a törvényszék elõl.
17 Then all the Greeks took Sosthenes, the chief ruler of the synagogue, and beat him before the judgment-seat. And Gallio cared for none of those things. A görögök pedig mindnyájan Sosthenest, a zsinagógának fejét megragadván, verik vala a törvényszék elõtt; de Gallió velök semmit sem gondola.
18 mapa And Paul after this tarried there yet a good while, and took his leave of the brethren, and sailed thence into Syria, and with him Priscilla and Aquila; having shorn his head in Cenchrea: for he had a vow. Pál pedig, miután még több napig ott marada, az atyafiaktól elbúcsúzván, Siriába hajózék, és vele együtt Prisczilla és Akvila, minekutána fejét megnyírta Kenkreában; mert fogadása vala.
19 mapa And he came to Ephesus, and left them there: but he himself entered into the synagogue, and reasoned with the Jews. Juta pedig Efézusba, és azokat ott hagyá; õ maga pedig bemenvén a zsinagógába, vetekedék a zsidókkal.
20 When they desired him to tarry longer time with them, he consented not: Mikor pedig azok kérék, hogy több ideig maradjon nálok, nem álla reá;
21 mapa But bade them farewell, saying, I must by all means keep this feast that cometh in Jerusalem: but I will return to you, if God will. And he sailed from Ephesus. Hanem búcsút võn tõlük, mondván: Mindenesetre Jeruzsálemben kell nékem a következõ ünnepet töltenem; de ismét megjövök hozzátok, ha Isten akarja. És elhajózék Efézusból.
22 mapa And when he had landed at Cesarea, and gone up and saluted the church, he went down to Antioch. És miután Czézáreába érkezék, felmenvén [Jeruzsálembe] és köszöntvén a gyülekezetet, leméne Antiókhiába.
23 mapa And after he had spent some time there, he departed and went over all the country of Galatia and Phrygia in order, strengthening all the disciples. És miután [ott] bizonyos idõt eltöltött, elméne, eljárván renddel Galácia tartományát és Frigiát, erõsítve a tanítványokat mind.
24 mapa And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man, and mighty in the scriptures, came to Ephesus. Érkezék pedig Efézusba egy Apollós nevû zsidó, alekszandriai származású, ékesenszóló férfiú, ki az írásokban tudós vala.
25 This man was instructed in the way of the Lord: and being fervent in the spirit, he spoke and taught diligently the things of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John. Ez meg volt tanítva az Úrnak útára; és lélekben buzgó lévén, szólja és tanítja vala nagy szorgalmatosan az Úrra tartozó dolgokat, jóllehet csak a János keresztségét tudja vala.
26 And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: Whom, when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him to them, and expounded to him the way of God more perfectly. És ez kezde nagy bátorsággal szólni a zsinagógában. Mikor pedig meghallgatta õt Akvila és Prisczilla, magok mellé vevék []õt, és nyilvábban kifejtették elõtte az Istennek útát.
27 mapa And when he was disposed to pass into Achaia, the brethren wrote, exhorting the disciples to receive him: who, when he had come, helped them much who had believed through grace. Mikor pedig Akhájába akara átmenni, buzdítván [õt] az atyafiak, írának a tanítványoknak, hogy fogadják be õt. Ki mikor odajutott, sokat használa azoknak, kik hittek vala a kegyelem által:
28 For he mightily convinced the Jews, and that publicly, showing by the scriptures, that Jesus was Christ. Mert hatalmasan meggyõzi vala a zsidókat nyilvánosan, bebizonyítva az írásokból, hogy Jézus a Krisztus.
