Lucas 14

1 And it came to pass, as he went into the house of one of the chief Pharisees to eat bread on the sabbath, that they watched him. És lõn mikor a fõfarizeusok közül egynek házához ment szombatnapon kenyeret enni, azok leselkednek vala õ utána.
2 And behold, there was a certain man before him who had the dropsy. És ímé egy vízkóros ember vala õ elõtte.
3 And Jesus answering, spoke to the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath? És felelvén Jézus, szóla a törvénytudóknak és a farizeusoknak, mondván: Szabad-é szombat[nap]on gyógyítani?
4 And they held their peace. And he took him and healed him, and let him go; Azok pedig hallgatának. És õ megfogván azt, meggyógyítá és elbocsátá.
5 And answered them, saying, Which of you shall have an ass or an ox fallen into a pit, and will not forthwith pull him out on the sabbath? És felelvén nékik, monda: Ki az közületek, a kinek szamara vagy ökre a kútba esik, és nem vonja ki azt azonnal szombatnapon?
6 And they could not answer him again to these things. És nem felelhetnek vala õ ellene semmit ezekre.
7 And he put forth a parable to those who were invited, when he marked how they chose out the chief rooms; saying to them, És egy példázatot monda a hivatalosoknak, mikor észre vevé, mimódon válogatják a fõ helyeket; mondván nékik:
8 When thou art invited by any man to a wedding, sit not down in the highest room, lest a more honorable man than thou be invited by him; Mikor valaki lakodalomba hív, ne ülj a fõ helyre; mert netalán náladnál nagyobb tiszteletben álló embert is hivott meg az,
9 And he that invited thee and him, shall come and say to thee, Give this man place; and thou begin with shame to take the lowest room. És eljövén az, a ki mind téged, mind azt meghívta, ezt mondja majd néked: Engedd ennek a helyet! És akkor szégyennel az utolsó helyre fogsz ülni.
10 But when thou art invited, go and sit down in the lowest room; that when he that invited thee cometh, he may say to thee, Friend, go up higher: then shalt thou have honor in the presence of them that sit at table with thee. Hanem mikor meghívnak, menj el és ülj le az utolsó helyre; hogy mikor eljõ az, a ki téged meghívott, ezt mondja néked: Barátom ülj feljebb! Akkor néked dicsõséged lesz azok elõtt, a kik veled együtt ülnek.
11 For whoever exalteth himself shall be abased, and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted. Mert mindenki, a ki magát felmagasztalja, megaláztatik; és a ki magát megalázza, felmagasztaltatik.
12 Then said he also to him that invited him, When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, neither thy kinsmen, nor thy rich neighbors; lest they also invite thee again, and a recompense be made thee. Monda pedig annak is, a ki õt meghívta: Mikor ebédet vagy vacsorát készítesz, ne hívd barátaidat, se testvéreidet, se rokonaidat, se gazdag szomszédaidat; nehogy viszont õk is meghívjanak téged, és visszafizessék néked.
13 But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind: Hanem mikor lakomát készítesz, hívd a szegényeket, csonkabonkákat, sántákat, vakokat:
14 And thou shalt be blessed: for they cannot recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the just. És boldog leszel; mivelhogy nem fizethetik vissza néked; mert majd visszafizettetik néked az igazak feltámadásakor.
15 And when one of them that sat at table with him heard these things, he said to him, Blessed is he that shall eat bread in the kingdom of God. Hallván pedig ezeket egy azok közül, a kik [õ vele] együtt ülnek vala, monda néki: Boldog az, a ki eszik kenyeret az Isten országában.
16 Then said he to him, A certain man made a great supper, and invited many: Õ pedig monda annak: Egy ember készíte nagy vacsorát, és sokakat meghíva;
17 And sent his servant at supper-time, to say to them that were invited, Come, for all things are now ready. És elküldé szolgáját a vacsora idején, hogy megmondja a hivatalosoknak: Jertek el, mert immár minden kész!
18 And they all with one consent began to make excuse. The first said to him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it: I pray thee have me excused. És mindnyájan egyenlõképen kezdék magokat mentegetni. Az elsõ monda néki: Szántóföldet vettem, és ki kell mennem, hogy azt meglássam; kérlek téged, ments ki engem!
19 And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them: I pray thee have me excused. És másik monda: Öt iga ökröt vettem, és elmegyek, hogy azokat megpróbáljam; kérlek téged, ments ki engem!
20 And another said, I have married a wife: and therefore I cannot come. A másik pedig monda: Feleséget vettem, és azért nem mehetek.
21 So that servant came, and showed his lord these things. Then the master of the house being angry, said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt, and the blind. Mikor azért az a szolga haza ment, megmondá ezeket az õ urának. Akkor megharagudván a gazda, monda az õ szolgájának: Eredj hamar a város utczáira és szorosaira, és a szegényeket, csonkabonkákat, sántákat és vakokat hozd be ide.
22 And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room. És monda a szolga: Uram, meglett a mint parancsolád, és mégis van hely.
23 And the lord said to the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled. Akkor monda az úr a szolgának: Eredj el az utakra és a sövényekhez, és kényszeríts bejõni [mindenkit], hogy megteljék az én házam.
24 For I say to you, that none of those men who were invited, shall taste my supper. Mert mondom néktek, hogy senki azok közül a hivatalos férfiak közül meg nem kóstolja az én vacsorámat.
25 And there went great multitudes with him: and he turned, and said to them, Megy vala pedig õ vele nagy sokaság; és megfordulván, monda azoknak:
26 If any man cometh to me, and hateth not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. Ha valaki én hozzám jõ, és meg nem gyûlöli az õ atyját és anyját, feleségét és gyermekeit, fitestvéreit és nõtestvéreit, sõt még a maga lelkét is, nem lehet az én tanítványom.
27 And whoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple. És valaki nem hordozza az õ keresztjét, és én utánam jõ, nem lehet az én tanítványom.
28 For which of you intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he hath sufficient to finish it? Mert ha közületek valaki tornyot akar építeni, nemde elõször leülvén felszámítja a költséget, ha van-é mivel elvégezze?
29 Lest perhaps after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him, Nehogy minekutána fundamentomot vetett, és elvégezni nem bírja, csúfolni kezdje õt mindenki, a ki látja,
30 Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish. Ezt mondván: Ez az ember elkezdette az építést, és nem bírta véghez vinni!
31 Or what king going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand? Vagy valamely király, mikor háborúba megy, hogy egy másik királlyal megütközzék, nemde leülvén elõször tanácskozik, hogy tízezerrel szembeszállhat-é azzal, a ki õ ellene húszezerrel jött?
32 Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sendeth an embassy, and desireth conditions of peace. Mert különben még mikor amaz távol van, követséget küldvén, megkérdezi a békefeltételeket.
33 So likewise, whoever he is of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple. Ezenképen azért valaki közületek búcsút nem vesz minden javaitól, nem lehet az én tanítványom.
34 Salt is good: but if the salt hath lost its savor, with what shall it be seasoned? Jó a só: de ha a só megízetlenül, mivel sózzák meg?
35 It is neither fit for the land, nor yet for the dunghill, but men cast it out. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. Sem a földre, sem a trágyára nem alkalmas: kivetik azt. A kinek van füle a hallásra, hallja.
