| 1 | And he spoke a parable to them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint; | Monda pedig nékik példázatot is arról, hogy mindig imádkozni kell, és meg nem restülni; |
| 2 | Saying, There was in a city a judge, who feared not God, neither regarded man. | Mondván: Volt egy bíró egy városban, a ki Istent nem félt és embert nem becsült. |
| 3 | And there was a widow in that city; and she came to him, saying, Avenge me of my adversary. | Volt pedig abban a városban egy özvegyasszony, és elméne ahhoz, mondván: Állj bosszút értem az én ellenségemen. |
| 4 | And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man; | Az pedig nem akará egy ideig; de azután monda õ magában: Jól lehet Istent nem félek és embert nem becsülök; |
| 5 | Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me. | Mindazáltal mivelhogy nékem terhemre van ez az özvegyasszony, megszabadítom õt, hogy szüntelen reám járván, ne gyötörjön engem. |
| 6 | And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith. | Monda pedig az Úr: Halljátok, mit mond e hamis bíró! |
| 7 | And will not God avenge his own elect, who cry day and night to him, though he beareth long with them? | Hát az Isten nem áll-é bosszút az õ választottaiért, kik õ hozzá kiáltanak éjjel és nappal, ha hosszútûrõ is irántuk? |
| 8 | I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of man cometh, will he find faith on the earth? | Mondom néktek, hogy bosszút áll értök hamar. Mindazáltal az embernek Fia mikor eljõ, avagy talál-é hitet e földön? |
| 9 | And he spoke this parable to certain who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: | Némelyeknek pedig, kik elbizakodtak magukban, hogy õk igazak, és a többieket semmibe sem vették, ezt a példázatot is mondá: |
| 10 | Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. | Két ember méne fel a templomba imádkozni; az egyik farizeus, és a másik vámszedõ. |
| 11 | The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. | A farizeus megállván, ily módon imádkozék magában: Isten! hálákat adok néked, hogy nem vagyok olyan, mint egyéb emberek, ragadozók, hamisak, paráznák, vagy mint ím e vámszedõ is. |
| 12 | I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess. | Bõjtölök kétszer egy héten; dézsmát adok mindenbõl, a mit szerzek. |
| 13 | And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes to heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. | A vámszedõ pedig távol állván, még szemeit sem akarja vala az égre emelni, hanem veri vala mellét, mondván: Isten, légy irgalmas nékem bûnösnek! |
| 14 | I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted. | Mondom néktek, ez megigazulva méne alá az õ házához, inkább hogynem amaz: mert valaki felmagasztalja magát, megaláztatik; és a ki megalázza magát, felmagasztaltatik. |
| 15 | And they brought to him also infants, that he would touch them: but when his disciples saw it, they rebuked them. | Vivének pedig hozzá kis gyermekeket is, hogy illesse azokat; mikor pedig a tanítványok ezt látták, megdorgálák azokat. |
| 16 | But Jesus called them to him, and said, Suffer little children to come to me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. | De Jézus magához híván õket, monda: Engedjétek, hogy a kis gyermekek én hozzám jõjjenek, és ne tiltsátok el õket; mert ilyeneké az Istennek országa. |
| 17 | Verily I say to you, Whoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, shall in no wise enter into it. | Bizony mondom néktek: A ki nem úgy fogadja az Isten országát, mint gyermek, semmiképen nem megy be abba. |
| 18 | And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? | És megkérdé õt egy fõember, mondván: Jó Mester, mit cselekedjem, hogy az örökéletet elnyerhessem? |
| 19 | And Jesus said to him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is God. | Monda pedig néki Jézus: Miért mondasz engem jónak? Nincs senki jó, csak egy, az Isten. |
| 20 | Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honor thy father and thy mother. | A parancsolatokat tudod: Ne paráználkodjál; ne ölj; ne lopj; hamis tanubizonyságot ne tégy; tiszteld atyádat és anyádat. |
| 21 | And he said, All these have I kept from my youth. | Az pedig monda: Mindezeket ifjúságomtól fogva megtartottam. |
| 22 | Now when Jesus heard these things, he said to him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me. | Jézus ezeket hallván, monda néki: Még egy fogyatkozás van benned: Add el mindenedet, a mid van, és oszd el a szegényeknek, és kincsed lesz mennyországban; és jer, kövess engem. |
| 23 | And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich. | Az pedig ezeket hallván, igen megszomorodék; mert igen gazdag vala. |
| 24 | And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How hardly will they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God! | És mikor látta Jézus, hogy az igen megszomorodék, monda: Mily nehezen mennek be az Isten országába, a kiknek gazdagságuk van! |
| 25 | For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. | Mert könnyebb a tevének a tû fokán átmenni, hogynem a gazdagnak az Isten országába bejutni. |
| 26 | And they that heard it, said, Who then can be saved? | A kik pedig ezt hallották, mondának: Ki idvezülhet tehát? |
| 27 | Then he said, The things which are impossible with men, are possible with God. | Õ pedig monda: A mi embereknél lehetetlen, lehetséges az Istennél. |
| 28 | Then Peter said, Lo, we have left all, and followed thee. | És monda Péter: Ímé mi mindent elhagytunk, és követtünk téged! |
| 29 | And he said to them, Verily I say to you, there is no man that hath left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children for the sake of the kingdom of God, | Õ pedig monda nékik: Bizony mondom néktek, hogy senki sincs, a ki elhagyta házát, vagy szüleit, vagy testvéreit, vagy feleségét, vagy gyermekeit az Isten országáért, |
| 30 | Who shall not receive manifold more in this present time, and in the world to come life everlasting. | A ki sokszorta többet ne kapna ebben az idõben, a jövendõ világon pedig örök életet. |
| 31 mapa | Then he took the twelve, and said to them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished. | És maga mellé vévén a tizenkettõt, monda nékik: Ímé felmegyünk Jeruzsálembe, és beteljesedik minden az embernek Fián, a mit a próféták megírtak. |
| 32 | For he will be delivered to the Gentiles, and will be mocked, and spitefully treated, and spitted on; | Mert a pogányok kezébe adatik, és megcsúfoltatik, és meggyaláztatik, és megköpdöstetik; |
| 33 | And they will scourge him, and put him to death: and the third day he will rise again. | És megostorozván, megölik õt; és harmadnapon feltámad. |
| 34 | And they understood none of these things: and this saying was hid from them, neither knew they the things which were spoken. | Õk pedig ezekbõl semmit nem értének; és a beszéd õ elõlük el vala rejtve, és nem fogták fel a mondottakat. |
| 35 mapa | And it came to pass, that as he had come nigh to Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the way side begging; | Lõn pedig, mikor Jerikhóhoz közeledett, egy vak ül vala az út mellett koldulván. |
| 36 | And hearing the multitude passing by, he asked what it meant. | És mikor hallotta a mellette elmenõ sokaságot, tudakozódék, mi dolog az? |
| 37 mapa | And they told him, that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by. | Megmondák pedig néki, hogy a Názáretbeli Jézus megy el arra. |
| 38 | And he cried, saying, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me. | És kiálta, mondván: Jézus, Dávidnak Fia, könyörülj rajtam! |
| 39 | And they who went before rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: but he cried so much the more, Thou son of David, have mercy on me. | A kik pedig elõl mentek, dorgálák õt, hogy hallgasson; de õ annál inkább kiálta: Dávidnak Fia, könyörülj rajtam! |
| 40 | And Jesus stood and commanded him to be brought to him: and when he had come near, he asked him, | És Jézus megállván, parancsolá, hogy vigyék azt hozzá; és mikor közel ért, megkérdé õt, |
| 41 | Saying, What wilt thou that I shall do to thee? And he said, Lord, that I may receive my sight. | Mondván: Mit akarsz, hogy cselekedjem veled? Az pedig monda: Uram, hogy az én szemem világa megjõjjön. |
| 42 | And Jesus said to him, Receive thy sight: thy faith hath saved thee. | És Jézus monda néki: Láss, a te hited téged megtartott. |
| 43 | And immediately he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God: and all the people, when they saw it, gave praise to God. | És azonnal megjöve annak szeme világa, és követé õt, dicsõítvén az Istent az egész sokaság pedig [ezt] látván, dicsõséget ada az Istennek. |
