1 And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying, 2 Command the children of Israel, that they put out of the camp every leper, and every one that hath an issue, and whosoever is unclean by the dead: 3 both male and female shall ye put out, without the camp shall ye put them; that they defile not their camp, in the midst whereof I dwell. 4 And the children of Israel did so, and put them out without the camp; as Jehovah spake unto Moses, so did the children of Israel.

5 And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying, 6 Speak unto the children of Israel, When a man or woman shall commit any sin that men commit, so as to trespass against Jehovah, and that soul shall be guilty; 7 then he shall confess his sin which he hath done: and he shall make restitution for his guilt in full, and add unto it the fifth part thereof, and give it unto him in respect of whom he hath been guilty. 8 But if the man have no kinsman to whom restitution may be made for the guilt, the restitution for guilt which is made unto Jehovah shall be the priest’s; besides the ram of the atonement, whereby atonement shall be made for him. 9 And every heave-offering of all the holy things of the children of Israel, which they present unto the priest, shall be his. 10 And every man’s hallowed things shall be his: whatsoever any man giveth the priest, it shall be his.

11 And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying, 12 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, If any man’s wife go aside, and commit a trespass against him, 13 and a man lie with her carnally, and it be hid from the eyes of her husband, and be kept close, and she be defiled, and there be no witness against her, and she be not taken in the act; 14 and the spirit of jealousy come upon him, and he be jealous of his wife, and she be defiled: or if the spirit of jealousy come upon him, and he be jealous of his wife, and she be not defiled: 15 then shall the man bring his wife unto the priest, and shall bring her oblation for her, the tenth part of an ephah of barley meal; he shall pour no oil upon it, nor put frankincense thereon; for it is a meal-offering of jealousy, a meal-offering of memorial, bringing iniquity to remembrance.

16 And the priest shall bring her near, and set her before Jehovah: 17 and the priest shall take holy water in an earthen vessel; and of the dust that is on the floor of the tabernacle the priest shall take, and put it into the water. 18 And the priest shall set the woman before Jehovah, and let the hair of the woman’s head go loose, and put the meal-offering of memorial in her hands, which is the meal-offering of jealousy: and the priest shall have in his hand the water of bitterness that causeth the curse. 19 And the priest shall cause her to swear, and shall say unto the woman, If no man have lain with thee, and if thou have not gone aside to uncleanness, being under thy husband, be thou free from this water of bitterness that causeth the curse. 20 But if thou have gone aside, being under thy husband, and if thou be defiled, and some man have lain with thee besides thy husband: 21 then the priest shall cause the woman to swear with the oath of cursing, and the priest shall say unto the woman, Jehovah make thee a curse and an oath among thy people, when Jehovah doth make thy thigh to fall away, and thy body to swell; 22 and this water that causeth the curse shall go into thy bowels, and make thy body to swell, and thy thigh to fall away. And the woman shall say, Amen, Amen.

23 And the priest shall write these curses in a book, and he shall blot them out into the water of bitterness: 24 and he shall make the woman drink the water of bitterness that causeth the curse; and the water that causeth the curse shall enter into her and become bitter. 25 And the priest shall take the meal-offering of jealousy out of the woman’s hand, and shall wave the meal-offering before Jehovah, and bring it unto the altar: 26 and the priest shall take a handful of the meal-offering, as the memorial thereof, and burn it upon the altar, and afterward shall make the woman drink the water. 27 And when he hath made her drink the water, then it shall come to pass, if she be defiled, and have committed a trespass against her husband, that the water that causeth the curse shall enter into her and become bitter, and her body shall swell, and her thigh shall fall away: and the woman shall be a curse among her people. 28 And if the woman be not defiled, but be clean; then she shall be free, and shall conceive seed.

29 This is the law of jealousy, when a wife, being under her husband, goeth aside, and is defiled; 30 or when the spirit of jealousy cometh upon a man, and he is jealous of his wife; then shall he set the woman before Jehovah, and the priest shall execute upon her all this law. 31 And the man shall be free from iniquity, and that woman shall bear her iniquity.

1 Domnul a vorbit lui Moise și a zis: 2 „Poruncește copiilor lui Israel să izgonească din tabără pe orice lepros*Lev. 13:3,46. Cap. 12:14. și pe oricine are o lepădare*Lev. 15:2. de sămânță sau este întinat prin atingerea de*Lev. 21:1. Cap. 9:6,10;19:11,13; 31:19. un mort. 3 Fie bărbați, fie femei, să-i scoateți din tabără; să-i scoateți afară, ca să nu spurce tabăra în mijlocul*Lev. 26:11,12.2 Cor. 6:16. căreia Îmi am Eu locuința." 4 Copiii lui Israel au făcut așa și i-au scos afară din tabără; cum poruncise lui Moise Domnul, așa au făcut copiii lui Israel.

5 Domnul a vorbit lui Moise și a zis: 6 „Spune copiilor lui Israel: ‘Când*Lev. 6:2,3. un bărbat sau o femeie va păcătui împotriva aproapelui său, făcând o călcare de lege față de Domnul, și se va face astfel vinovat, 7 să-și*Lev. 5:5;26:40.Ios. 7:19. mărturisească păcatul și să dea înapoi în întregime*Lev. 6:5. prețul lucrului câștigat prin mijloace necinstite, adăugând a cincea parte; să-l dea aceluia față de care s-a făcut vinovat. 8 Dacă nu este nimeni care să aibă drept să ia înapoi lucrul câștigat prin mijloace necinstite, lucrul acela să se întoarcă la Domnul, la preot, afară de berbecul*Lev. 6:6,7;7:7. adus ca jertfă de ispășire cu care se va face ispășire pentru cel vinovat. 9 Orice dar*Exod 29:28.Lev. 6:17,18,26;7:6,7,9,10,14. Cap. 18:8,9,19.Deut. 18:3,4.Ezec. 44:29,30. ridicat din lucrurile închinate Domnului de copiii lui Israel să fie al preotului căruia îi sunt aduse. 10 Lucrurile închinate Domnului vor fi ale preotului: tot ce i se va da preotului al*Lev. 10:13. lui să fie.’"

11 Domnul a vorbit lui Moise și a zis: 12 „Vorbește copiilor lui Israel și spune-le: ‘Dacă păcătuiește nevasta cuiva față de bărbatul ei și-i este necredincioasă; 13 dacă altul se*Lev. 18:20. culcă cu ea și lucrul este ascuns de bărbatul ei; dacă ea s-a pângărit în ascuns, fără să fie vreun martor împotriva ei și fără să fie prinsă asupra faptului; 14 și dacă bărbatul este apucat de un duh de gelozie și are bănuieli asupra nevestei lui, care s-a pângărit, sau dacă este cuprins de un duh de gelozie și are bănuieli asupra nevestei lui, care nu s-a pângărit, 15 omul acela să-și aducă nevasta la preot și, ca dar de mâncare pentru ea, să aducă a zecea parte dintr-o efă de floare de făină de orz; să nu toarne untdelemn pe ea și să nu pună tămâie pe ea, căci acesta este un dar de mâncare adus pentru gelozie, un dar de descoperire, care descoperă*1 Împ. 17:18.Ezec. 29:16. o fărădelege. 16 Preotul s-o apropie și s-o pună să stea în picioare înaintea Domnului. 17 Preotul să ia apă sfântă într-un vas de pământ, să ia țărână de pe podeaua cortului și s-o pună în apă. 18 Preotul să pună pe femeie să stea în picioare înaintea Domnului, să descopere capul femeii și să-i pună în mâini darul de mâncare adus pentru descoperire, darul de mâncare adus pentru gelozie; preotul să aibă în mână apele amare aducătoare de blestem. 19 Preotul să pună pe femeie să jure și să-i zică: «Dacă niciun om nu s-a culcat cu tine și dacă, fiind sub puterea bărbatului tău, nu te-ai abătut de la el ca să te pângărești cu altul, să nu-ți facă niciun rău aceste ape amare aducătoare de blestem! 20 Dar dacă, fiind sub puterea bărbatului tău, te-ai abătut de la el și te-ai pângărit și dacă un alt om decât bărbatul tău s-a culcat cu tine», 21 și preotul*Ios. 6:26.1 Sam. 14:24.Neem. 10:29. să pună pe femeie să jure cu un jurământ de blestem și să-i zică: «Domnul să*Ier. 29:22. te facă să ajungi de blestem și de urgie în mijlocul poporului tău, făcând să ți se usuce coapsa și să ți se umfle pântecele, 22 și apele acestea aducătoare de blestem să intre*Ps. 109:18. în măruntaiele tale, ca să facă să ți se umfle pântecele și să ți se usuce coapsa!» Și*Deut. 27:15. femeia să zică: «Amin! Amin!» 23 Preotul să scrie blestemele acestea într-o carte, apoi să le șteargă cu apele cele amare. 24 Și să dea femeii să bea apele amare aducătoare de blestem, și apele aducătoare de blestem vor intra în ea și-i vor pricinui amărăciunea. 25 Preotul să ia din mâinile femeii darul de mâncare adus pentru gelozie, să legene*Lev. 8:27. darul într-o parte și într-alta înaintea Domnului și să-l aducă pe altar. 26 Apoi*Lev. 2:2,9. preotul să ia un pumn din darul acesta, ca aducere aminte, și să-l ardă pe altar. După aceea, să dea femeii să bea apele. 27 După ce îi va da să bea apele, dacă ea s-a pângărit și a fost necredincioasă bărbatului ei, apele aducătoare de blestem vor intra în ea și-i vor pricinui amărăciunea; pântecele i se va umfla, coapsa i se va usca, și femeia aceasta va fi de blestem*Deut. 28:37.Ps. 83:9,11.Ier. 24:9;29:18,22;42:18.Zah. 8:13. în mijlocul poporului ei. 28 Dar, dacă femeia nu s-a pângărit și este curată, va rămâne neatinsă și va avea copii. 29 Aceasta este legea asupra geloziei, pentru împrejurarea când o femeie care este sub puterea bărbatului ei se abate*Vers. 19. și se pângărește 30 și pentru împrejurarea când un bărbat, apucat de un duh de gelozie, are bănuieli asupra nevestei lui: preotul s-o pună să stea în picioare înaintea Domnului și să-i facă întocmai după legea aceasta. 31 Bărbatul va fi scutit de vină, dar femeia aceea își va lua*Lev. 20:17,19,20. pedeapsa nelegiuirii ei.’"
