I Have Calmed and Quieted My Soul

1 O Lord, my heart is not *[Ps. 138:6;Isa. 57:15] lifted up;

my eyes are not *See Ps. 101:5raised too high;

I do not *[Jer. 45:5;Rom. 12:16] occupy myself with things

too great and *See Job 42:3too marvelous for me.

2 But I have calmed and quieted my soul,

like a weaned *[Matt. 18:3;1 Cor. 14:20]child with its mother;

like a weaned child is my soul within me.

3 *Ps. 130:7O Israel, hope in the Lord

from this time forth and forevermore.
