A #Ps. 17, title; 55:1Prayer of Moses, the #Deut. 33:1; Josh. 14:6; Ezra 3:2man of God.
1 Lord, you have been our See Ps. 71:3dwelling place90:1 Some Hebrew manuscripts (compare Septuagint) our refuge
in all generations.
2 Prov. 8:25Before the [Deut. 33:15;Job 15:7] mountains were brought forth,
or ever you had formed the earth and the world,
See Job 36:26from everlasting to everlasting you are God.
3 You return man to dust
and say, Gen. 3:19"Return, Eccles. 12:7O children of man!"90:3 Or of Adam
4 For 2 Pet. 3:8a thousand years in your sight
are but as [Ps. 39:5] yesterday when it is past,
or as Ex. 14:24;Judg. 7:19a watch in the night.
5 You Ps. 58:9sweep them away as with a flood; they are like See Job 20:8a dream,
like Ps. 37:2;103:15;2 Kgs. 19:26;Isa. 40:6-8;1 Pet. 1:24grass that is renewed in the morning:
6 in See Job 4:20the morning it flourishes and is renewed;
in the evening it Job 14:2;[Ps. 92:7] fades and James 1:11withers.
7 For we are brought to an end by your anger;
by your wrath we are dismayed.
8 You have Jer. 16:17;Heb. 4:13set our iniquities before you,
our Ps. 19:12secret sins in the light of your presence.
9 For all our days pass away under your wrath;
we bring our years to an end like a sigh.
10 The years of our life are seventy,
or even by reason of strength eighty;
yet their span90:10 Or pride is but toil and trouble;
they are soon gone, and we fly away.
11 Who considers the power of your anger,
and your wrath according to the fear of you?
12 Ps. 39:4So teach us to number our days
that we may get a heart of wisdom.
13 Ps. 6:4Return, O Lord! See Ps. 74:9,10How long?
Have Ps. 106:45;135:14;Ex. 32:12;Deut. 32:36;Judg. 2:18;Jonah 3:10;See Gen. 6:6pity on your servants!
14 Satisfy us in the See Ps. 46:5morning with your steadfast love,
that we may See Ps. 85:6rejoice and be glad all our days.
15 Make us glad for as many days as you have [Deut. 8:2]afflicted us,
and for as many years as we have seen evil.
16 Let your Ps. 77:12;92:4;95:9;Deut. 32:4;Hab. 3:2work be shown to your servants,
and your glorious power to their children.
17 Let the Ps. 27:4favor90:17 Or beauty of the Lord our God be upon us,
and establish [Ps. 128:2]; [Isa. 26:12]the work of our hands upon us;
yes, establish the work of our hands!
