Restore Us, O God

1 Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel,

you who lead *Ps. 78:67;81:5Joseph like *[Ps. 95:7]; See Ps. 77:20a flock.

You who are *Ps. 99:1;Ex. 25:22;1 Sam. 4:4;2 Sam. 6:2enthroned upon the cherubim, *See Ps. 50:2shine forth.

and given them tears to drink in full measure.

and our enemies laugh among themselves.

it took deep root and filled the land.

10 The mountains were covered with its shade,

the mighty cedars with its branches.

11 It sent out its branches to *See Ps. 72:8the sea

12 Why then have you *Ps. 89:40;Isa. 5:5broken down its walls,

so that all who pass along the way pluck its fruit?

and all that move in the field feed on it.

14 Turn again, O God of hosts!

have regard for this vine,

15 the stock that your right hand planted,

and for the son whom you made strong for yourself.

16 They have *Isa. 33:12burned it with fire; they have *Isa. 33:12cut it down;

may they perish at *Ps. 76:6;[Ps. 39:11]the rebuke of your face!

17 But *Ps. 89:21let your hand be on the man of your right hand,

the son of man whom you have made strong for yourself!

18 Then we shall not turn back from you;
