Psalm 149

Sing to the Lord a New Song

1 *[See Ps. 148:14above] Praise the Lord!

Sing to the Lord*See Ps. 33:3a new song,

his praise in *Ps. 89:5,7the assembly of the godly!

2 Let Israel *Ps. 85:6be glad in *See Ps. 95:6;Job 35:10his Maker;

let the children of Zion rejoice in their *1 Sam. 12:12;Zech. 9:9King!

3 Let them praise his name with *Ps. 150:4;[Ps. 30:11] dancing,

making melody to him with *Ps. 150:4;Ex. 15:20tambourine and *Ps. 150:3lyre!

4 For the Lord*Ps. 35:27;147:11takes pleasure in his people;

he *[Isa. 61:3]adorns the humble with salvation.

5 Let the godly exult in glory;

let them *See Job 35:10sing for joy on their *Ps. 4:4;63:6;[Hos. 7:14]beds.

6 Let *[Ps. 66:17] the high praises of God be in their throats

and *Heb. 4:12;Rev. 1:16;2:12;[Prov. 5:4]two-edged swords in their hands,

7 to execute vengeance on the nations

and punishments on the peoples,

8 to bind their kings with *[Job 36:8]chains

and their nobles with fetters of iron,

9 to execute on them the judgment *Isa. 65:6;[Job 13:26] written!
