In You Do I Take Refuge

1 O Lord my God, in you do I See Ps. 11:1take refuge;

Ps. 31:15save me from all my pursuers and deliver me,

2 lest like See Job 10:16a lion they tear my soul apart,

rending it in pieces, with Ps. 50:22none to deliver.

3 O Lord my God, [2 Sam. 16:7,8] if I have done this,

if there is 1 Sam. 24:11;26:18;[Ps. 59:3]wrong in my hands,

4 if I have repaid Ps. 55:20my friend7:4 Hebrew the one at peace with me with evil

or 1 Sam. 24:7;26:9plundered my enemy without cause,

5 let the enemy pursue my soul and overtake it,

and let him Dan. 8:7;[Ps. 89:39]trample my life to the ground

and lay my glory in the dust. Selah

6 See Ps. 3:7Arise, O Lord, in your anger;

Ps. 94:2;Isa. 33:10lift yourself up against the fury of my enemies;

Ps. 35:23;44:23;59:4;Job 8:6awake for me; you have appointed a judgment.

7 Let the assembly of the peoples be gathered about you;

over it return on high.

8 The LordSee Ps. 58:11judges the peoples;

Ps. 26:1;35:24;43:1;[Ps. 18:20]judge me, O Lord, according to my righteousness

and according to the integrity that is in me.

9 Oh, let the evil of the wicked come to an end,

and may you establish the righteous

11 God is [Job 8:3] a righteous judge,

and a God who feels Nah. 1:2,6indignation every day.

he has Ps. 11:2;37:14bent and Ps. 21:12readied his bow;

13 he has prepared for him his deadly weapons,

making his See Ps. 18:14arrows [Eph. 6:16]fiery shafts.

14 Behold, the wicked man Job 15:35;Isa. 59:4;[Isa. 33:11;James 1:15]conceives evil

and gives birth to lies.

15 He makes Ps. 9:15;57:6;119:85;Prov. 26:27;28:10;Eccles. 10:8a pit, digging it out,

and falls into the hole that he has made.

16 His [Ps. 94:23;141:10;Judg. 9:24;1 Kgs. 2:32;Esth. 7:10;9:25;Prov. 5:22]mischief returns upon his own head,

and on his own skull his violence descends.

17 I will give to the Lord the thanks due to his righteousness,

and I will Ps. 9:2sing praise to the name of the Lord, the Most High.
