Great Is the Lord

# 145:1 This psalm is an acrostic poem, each verse beginning with the successive letters of the Hebrew alphabet A Song of Praise. Of David.

1 Ps. 99:5,9I will extol you, my God and Ps. 98:6King,

and bless your name forever and ever.

2 Every day I will bless you

[Ps. 146:2]and praise your name forever and ever.

3 Ps. 48:1Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised,

and his Job 5:9;[Isa. 40:28]greatness is unsearchable.

4 Isa. 38:19One generation shall commend your works to another,

and shall declare your mighty acts.

5 On ver. 12the glorious splendor of your majesty,

and on your wondrous works, I will meditate.

6 They shall speak of [Ps. 78:4]the might of your awesome deeds,

and I will declare your greatness.

7 They shall pour forth the fame of your Isa. 63:7abundant goodness

and shall sing aloud of your righteousness.

8 The Lord is See Ps. 86:5,15gracious and merciful,

slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.

9 The Lord is See Ps. 100:5good to all,

and his mercy is over all that he has made.

10 [Ps. 19:1;103:22] All your works shall give thanks to you, O Lord,

and all your [Ps. 132:9,16]saints shall bless you!

11 They shall speak of the glory of your kingdom

and tell of your power,

12 to Ps. 105:1make known to the children of man your145:12 Hebrew his; also next linever. 4;Ps. 150:2;Deut. 3:24mighty deeds,

and ver. 5the glorious splendor of your kingdom.

13 See Ps. 10:16Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom,

and your dominion endures throughout all generations.

14 The Lord[Ps. 37:17,24] upholds all who are falling

and Ps. 146:8raises up all who are bowed down.

15 The eyes of all Ps. 104:27look to you,

and you give them their food in due season.

16 You Ps. 104:28open your hand;

you [Ps. 104:21;147:8]satisfy the desire of every living thing.

17 The Lord is See Ps. 116:5righteous in all his ways

and Ps. 18:25;Jer. 3:12kind in all his works.

18 The Lord is [Ps. 34:18;119:151;Deut. 4:7] near to all who call on him,

to all who call on him John 4:23,24in truth.

19 He Prov. 10:24;[John 9:31] fulfills the desire of those who fear him;

he also Ps. 31:22hears their cry and saves them.

20 The LordSee Ps. 97:10preserves all who love him,

but all the wicked he will destroy.

21 My mouth will speak the praise of the Lord,

and [Ps. 150:6]let all flesh bless his holy name forever and ever.
