Joy Comes with the Morning

A Psalm of David. A song at the dedication of #2 Sam. 5:11; 1 Chr. 22:1the temple.

1 I will *Ps. 107:32extol you, O Lord, for you have drawn me up

and have not let my foes *Ps. 25:2;35:19,24;[Ps. 13:4]rejoice over me.

2 O Lord my God, I *Ps. 88:13cried to you for help,

and you have *See Ps. 6:2healed me.

3 O Lord, you have brought up my soul from *See Ps. 16:10Sheol;

you restored me to life from among those who *Ps. 28:1go down to the pit.*30:3 Or to life, that I should not go down to the pit

4 Sing praises to the Lord, O you *Ps. 50:5his saints,

6 As for me, I said in my *[Job 29:18;Prov. 1:32] prosperity,

"I shall never be *Ps. 10:6moved."

7 By your favor, O Lord,

you made my *[2 Sam. 5:9] mountain stand strong;

you *Ps. 104:29;[Deut. 31:17] hid your face;

I was *[2 Sam. 24:10]dismayed.

8 To you, O Lord, I cry,

and *Ps. 142:1to the Lord I plead for mercy:

9 "What profit is there in my death,*30:9 Hebrew in my blood

if I go down to the pit?*30:9 Or to corruption

Will *See Ps. 6:5the dust praise you?

Will it tell of your faithfulness?

10 *Ps. 27:7Hear, O Lord, and be merciful to me!

O Lord, be my helper!"

11 You have turned for me my mourning into *Ex. 15:20;2 Sam. 6:14;Jer. 31:4,13;[Ps. 149:3;150:4;Lam. 5:15]dancing;

you have loosed my sackcloth

and clothed me with gladness,

12 that my *See Ps. 16:9glory may sing your praise and not be silent.

O Lord my God, I will give thanks to you forever!
