My Soul Waits for God Alone

1 For God alone *See Ps. 33:20my soul *[Ps. 37:7]waits in silence;

from him comes my salvation.

2 *Ps. 18:2He alone is my rock and my salvation,

my *See Ps. 9:9fortress; *See Ps. 10:6I shall not be greatly shaken.

3 How long will all of you attack a man

to batter him,

like *[Isa. 30:13]a leaning wall, a tottering fence?

4 They only plan to thrust him down from his *Job 13:11high position.

They take pleasure in falsehood.

*See Ps. 28:3They bless with their mouths,

but inwardly they curse. Selah

5 For God alone, O *[See ver. 1above]my soul, wait in silence,

for my hope is from him.

6 *[See ver. 2above]He only is my rock and my salvation,

my fortress; I shall not be shaken.

7 On God rests my *See Ps. 3:8salvation and my glory;

my mighty rock, *See Ps. 14:6my refuge is God.

in the balances they go up;

10 Put no trust in extortion;
