Nej, inte en enda!

5 *Ps 31:16, 39:5, 139:16. Om människans dagar är bestämda

och hennes månaders antal

är fastställt av dig,

om du har satt en gräns

som hon inte kan överskrida,

6 *Job 10:20, Ps 39:14. vänd då din blick ifrån henne

och ge henne ro,

låt henne få glädje av sin dag

som en daglönare.

7 För ett träd finns det hopp,

huggs det ner kan det gro igen

och nya skott ska inte saknas.

8 Även om dess rötter åldras i jorden

och stubben dör i mullen,

9 ska det grönska vid doften av vatten

och skjuta skott som ett ungt träd.

10 Men när en man dör ligger han där.

När en människa ger upp andan,

var är hon då?

11 *Jes 19:5. Som vattnet försvinner ur sjön

och en flod sinar och torkar ut,

12 så lägger sig människan

och står inte upp igen.

Först när inte himlen finns mer

vaknar hon och reser sig

från sin sömn.

13 Tänk om du ville

gömma mig i dödsriket,

dölja mig tills din vrede upphör,

sätta en bestämd tid för mig

och tänka på mig!

14 *Job 7:1. Kan en människa som en gång dött

få liv igen?

Då skulle jag hålla ut

i min mödas tid

tills min avlösning kommer.

15 Du skulle ropa på mig,

och jag skulle svara dig,

du skulle längta efter

dina händers verk.

16 Fastän du nu räknar mina steg

skulle du inte ge akt på min synd.

17 *Hos 13:12. Min synd skulle ligga i en förseglad pung,

och du skulle täcka över min skuld.

18 Men som berget faller

och vittrar bort,

som klippan flyttas från sin plats,

19 *Job 7:6, 8:13, 11:20, Ords 10:28. som vatten nöter sönder stenar,

som dess flöden sköljer bort myllan,

så gör du människans hopp

om intet.

20 Du besegrar henne för alltid

och hon går bort,

du förändrar hennes ansikte

och sänder i väg henne.

21 *Jes 63:16. Om hennes barn kommer till ära

vet hon det inte,

om de blir ringa

ser hon det inte.

22 Hennes kropp känner bara

sin egen plåga,

hennes själ bara sin egen sorg.
