1 Nós podemos fazer os nossos próprios planos, mas o resultado final está nas mãos de Deus.2 Podemos pretender provar que temos razão. Mas Deus convencer-se-á disso?3 Entrega o teu trabalho ao Senhor, e os teus planos irão por diante.4 Tudo o que o Senhor fez tem um objectivo. E o destino dos maus é serem castigados!5 Deus abomina o orgulho. Por muito que se faça, o orgulho não escapará ao castigo.6 A culpa é perdoada pela misericórdia e pela verdade. É obedecendo e reverenciando Deus que o ser humano se pode resguardar do mal.7 Quando uma pessoa procura agradar a Deus, Deus faz com que até os seus piores inimigos tenham paz com ele.8 Melhor é ter pouco, mas com honestidade, do que ter uma grande fortuna ganha por meios desonestos.9 Ao elaborarmos os nossos planos, devíamos sempre contar com a intervenção de Deus.10 As palavras do rei são como uma mensagem de Deus, as suas decisões são justas.11 O Senhor exige justiça em todos os assuntos e negócios. Ele mesmo estabeleceu esse princípio.12 Um chefe de estado tem horror à iniquidade, porque o seu direito de governar só pode ter como fundamento a justiça.13 Um povo que fala e respeita a verdade e que ama a justiça faz felizes os seus governantes.14 A severidade daquele que exerce a autoridade abala-nos como quando recebemos uma notícia de morte. As pessoas sabedoras encontrarão a forma de corrigirem aquilo que provocou esse rigor.15 Quando o rosto do rei exprime alegria, isso é vida! A sua benevolência é como uma nuvem de chuva serôdia.16 Quanto melhor é ter sabedoria do que muito ouro! E como vale mais o entendimento na vida do que montes de dinheiro!17 O caminho dos justos distingue-se essencialmente por se desviar do mal; quem segue por ele está em segurança!18 Ao orgulho segue-se a ruína, e a arrogância vem antes da queda.19 É preferível pôr-se ao lado dos humildes e dos simples, do que partilhar de privilégios com gente altiva.20 Deus abençoa os que obedecem consciente e reflectidamente à sua palavra, e os que confiam no Senhor serão felizes.21 O indivíduo sábio será conhecido pelo seu bom senso, e quem ensina outros tornar-se-á mais persuasivo empregando palavras adequadas.22 A sabedoria é fonte de vida para os que a possuem. O castigo dos loucos é a sua própria loucura.23 Do íntimo de quem tem entendimento saem palavras inteligentes, capazes de persuadir os outros.24 As palavras amáveis e delicadas são como o mel; fazem bem à alma, dão saúde à vida.25 Na frente de cada pessoa encontra-se um caminho que parece direito e seguro, mas no fim do qual se encontra a morte.26 A fome é boa para levar o homem a trabalhar a fim de satisfazer a sua necessidade.27 O malfeitor provoca o mal, e aquilo que diz é como um fogo!28 As pessoas perversas estão sempre a levantar contendas, e o intriguista é capaz de separar os melhores amigos.29 A gente violenta costuma aliciar outros para os levar por caminhos condenáveis. Fecham os olhos imaginando cuidadosamente tudo o que há de pior a tramar; e de lábios cerrados tomam a firme decisão de levar os seus planos perversos por diante.31 Os cabelos brancos representam dignidade; eles vêem-se nos que caminham na justiça.32 Uma pessoa que é paciente vale mais do que alguém muito corajoso. É melhor saber dominar-se do que controlar um exército.33 As pessoas têm o hábito de tirar à sorte para muito assuntos, mas no fim de contas é sempre de Deus que dependem as situações.

1 The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, are from the LORD.2 All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the LORD weigheth the spirits.3 Commit thy works to the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.4 The LORD hath made all things for himself: yes, even the wicked for the day of evil.5 Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.6 By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.7 When a man's ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.8 Better is a little with righteousness, than great revenues without right.9 A man's heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.10 A divine sentence is in the lips of the king: his mouth transgresseth not in judgment.11 A just weight and balance are the LORD'S: all the weights of the bag are his work.12 It is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness: for the throne is established by righteousness.13 Righteous lips are the delight of kings; and they love him that speaketh right.14 The wrath of a king is as messengers of death: but a wise man will pacify it.15 In the light of a king's countenance is life; and his favor is as a cloud of the latter rain.16 How much better is it to get wisdom than gold? and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver?17 The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: he that keepeth his way preserveth his soul.18 Pride goeth before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.19 Better it is to be of a humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.20 He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoever trusteth in the LORD, happy is he.21 The wise in heart shall be called prudent: and the sweetness of the lips increaseth learning.22 Understanding is a well-spring of life to him that hath it: but the instruction of fools is folly.23 The heart of the wise teacheth his mouth, and addeth learning to his lips.24 Pleasant words are as a honey-comb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.25 There is a way that seemeth right to a man, but the end of it is the ways of death.26 He that laboreth laboreth for himself; for his mouth craveth it of him.27 An ungodly man diggeth up evil: and in his lips there is as a burning fire.28 A froward man soweth strife: and a whisperer separateth chief friends.29 A violent man enticeth his neighbor, and leadeth him into the way that is not good.30 He shutteth his eyes to devise froward things: moving his lips he bringeth evil to pass.31 The hoary head is a crown of glory, if it is found in the way of righteousness.32 He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit, than he that taketh a city.33 The lot is cast into the lap: but the whole disposing of it is from the LORD.
