Ellei Herra olisi ollut puolellamme -- näin sanokoon Israel --2 ellei Herra olisi ollut puolellamme, kun viholliset hyökkäsivät kimppuumme,3 meidät olisi nielty elävältä. Kun heidän vihansa myrsky nousi,4 vedet olisivat meidät vieneet, tulvan aallot peittäneet,5 vyöryvät vedet hukuttaneet.6 Ylistetty olkoon Herra! Hän ei antanut meitä heidän hampaittensa raadeltaviksi.7 Me pääsimme pakoon kuin lintu pyytäjän paulasta. Paula katkesi, ja me pääsimme irti.8 Meidän auttajamme on Herra, hän, joka on luonut taivaan ja maan.
