Isaías 23

1 The burden of Tyre.

Howl, you ships of Tarshish! For it is laid waste, so that there is no house, no entering in. From the land of Kittim it is revealed to them. 2 Be still, you inhabitants of the coast, you whom the merchants of Sidon that pass over the sea have replenished. 3 On great waters, the seed of the Shihor, the harvest of the Nile, was her revenue. She was the market of nations. 4 Be ashamed, Sidon; for the sea has spoken, the stronghold of the sea, saying, "I have not travailed, nor given birth, neither have I nourished young men, nor brought up virgins." 5 When the report comes to Egypt, they will be in anguish at the report of Tyre. 6 Pass over to Tarshish! Wail, you inhabitants of the coast! 7 Is this your joyous city, whose antiquity is of ancient days, whose feet carried her far away to travel?

8 Who has planned this against Tyre, the giver of crowns, whose merchants are princes, whose traders are the honorable of the earth? 9 Yahweh of Armies has planned it, to stain the pride of all glory, to bring into contempt all the honorable of the earth. 10 Pass through your land like the Nile, daughter of Tarshish. There is no restraint any more. 11 He has stretched out his hand over the sea. He has shaken the kingdoms. Yahweh has ordered the destruction of Canaan’s strongholds. 12 He said, "You shall rejoice no more, you oppressed virgin daughter of Sidon. Arise, pass over to Kittim. Even there you will have no rest."

13 Behold, the land of the Chaldeans. This people didn’t exist. The Assyrians founded it for those who dwell in the wilderness. They set up their towers. They overthrew its palaces. They made it a ruin. 14 Howl, you ships of Tarshish, for your stronghold is laid waste! 15 It will come to pass in that day that Tyre will be forgotten seventy years, according to the days of one king. After the end of seventy years it will be to Tyre like in the song of the prostitute. 16 Take a harp; go about the city, you prostitute that has been forgotten. Make sweet melody. Sing many songs, that you may be remembered. 17 It will happen after the end of seventy years that Yahweh will visit Tyre. She will return to her wages, and will play the prostitute with all the kingdoms of the world on the surface of the earth. 18 Her merchandise and her wages will be holiness to Yahweh. It will not be treasured nor laid up; for her merchandise will be for those who dwell before Yahweh, to eat sufficiently, and for durable clothing.

He Poropititanga mō Tāira

1 Ko te poropititanga mō Tāira:

Auē, e ngā kaipuke o Tarahihi;

kua mōtī hoki ia, i kore ai he whare,

Nō te whenua o Kitimi

te whakaaturanga ki a rātou.

2 Whakarongoa, e ngā tāngata o te motu;

kua kī nā koe i tā ngā kaihokohoko o Hairona

e rere nei i te moana.

3 Kei ngā wai nui, kei ngā purapura o Hihoro,

kei te tapahanga wīti o te Naera, ōna hua;

ko ia anō te kaihokohoko ki ngā iwi.

4 Kia whakamā koe, e Hairona, kua kōrero hoki te moana,

te pā kaha o te moana kua mea,

"Kāhore ōku mamae hapū, kāhore hoki ahau i whānau,

kāhore i atawhai tamariki,

kāhore i whakatupu kōtiro."

5 Ka tae te rongo ki Īhipa,

ka tino mamae rātou, ki te rongo o Tāira.

6 Whakawhiti atu ki Tarahihi –

auē, e ngā tāngata o te motu.

7 Ko tō koutou pā koa ianei tēnei,

ko tōna tawhito nei nō ngā rā anō onamata?

Nā ōna waewae hoki ia i kawe

ki tawhiti noho ai.

8 Nā wai i whakatakoto tēnei whakaaro mō Tāira,

mō te pā whakakarauna,

he rangatira nei ōna kaihokohoko;

ko ōna kaiwhakawhitiwhiti taonga,

ko ngā metararahi o te whenua?

9 Nā Ihowā o ngā mano i whakatakoto –

hei whakapoke i te whakapehapeha o ngā mea ātaahua katoa,

hei mea kia whakahāweatia ngā metararahi o te whenua.

10 Tika atu nā waenganui i tōu whenua,

ānō ko te Naera, e te tamāhine a Tarahihi;

kua kore he whītiki mōu ā mua ake.

11 Kua totoro tōna ringa ki runga ki te moana,

whakangāueuetia ana e ia ngā rangatiratanga.

Nā Ihowā te whakahau mō Kanaana,

kia ngaro ōna pā kaha.

12 I mea anō ia, "Kāti rawa tōu koa,

e te wāhina e tūkinotia nei, e te tamāhine a Hairona.

"Whakatika, whakawhiti atu ki Kitimi –

ahakoa i reira kāhore he okiokinga mōu."

13 Nanā, te whenua o ngā Karari, kua kāhore tēnā iwi;

kua whakaritea a reira e ngā Ahiriana mō ngā kīrehe o te koraha.

Nā rātou i whakaara ā rātou pourewa,

kua horo i a rātou ōna whare kīngi;

kua meinga e ia hei ururua.

14 Auē, e ngā kaipuke o Tarahihi,

kua kore hoki tō koutou pā kaha.

15 I taua rā ka warewaretia a Tāira, e whitu tekau tau, ko ngā rā hoki o te kīngi kotahi; i te mutunga o ngā tau e whitu tekau ka rite tā Tāira ki te waiata a te wahine kairau:

16 "E mau ki te hāpa,

taiāwhiotia te pā,

e te wahine kairau i warewaretia nei!

Kia pai te waiata, kia maha ngā waiata,

kia maharatia ai koe."

17 Nā, i te mutunga o ngā tau e whitu tekau ka tirohia a Tāira e Ihowā, ā, ka hoki ia ki tāna utu, ka kairau anō ki ngā kīngitanga katoa o te whenua i runga i te mata o te oneone. 18 Nā, ko āna mea hokohoko, me ōna utu, he tapu ki a Ihowā; e kore e whaowhina ki te toa, e kore anō e rongoātia. Engari, mā te hunga e noho ana i te aroaro o Ihowā āna mea hokohoko, ā, ka mākona rātou i te kai, ka roa anō te mau o te kākahu.
