1 "Sing, barren, you who didn’t give birth!
Break out into singing, and cry aloud, you who didn’t travail with child!
For more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife," says Yahweh.
2 "Enlarge the place of your tent,
and let them stretch out the curtains of your habitations;
don’t spare; lengthen your cords, and strengthen your stakes.
3 For you will spread out on the right hand and on the left;
and your offspring will possess the nations
and settle in desolate cities.
4 "Don’t be afraid, for you will not be ashamed.
Don’t be confounded, for you will not be disappointed.
For you will forget the shame of your youth.
You will remember the reproach of your widowhood no more.
5 For your Maker is your husband; Yahweh of Armies is his name.
The Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer.
He will be called the God of the whole earth.
6 For Yahweh has called you as a wife forsaken and grieved in spirit,
even a wife of youth, when she is cast off," says your God.
7 "For a small moment I have forsaken you,
but I will gather you with great mercies.
8 In overflowing wrath I hid my face from you for a moment,
but with everlasting loving kindness I will have mercy on you," says Yahweh your Redeemer.
9 "For this is like the waters of Noah to me;
for as I have sworn that the waters of Noah will no more go over the earth,
so I have sworn that I will not be angry with you, nor rebuke you.
10 For the mountains may depart,
and the hills be removed,
but my loving kindness will not depart from you,
and my covenant of peace will not be removed,"
says Yahweh who has mercy on you.
11 "You afflicted, tossed with storms, and not comforted,
behold, I will set your stones in beautiful colors,
and lay your foundations with sapphires.
12 I will make your pinnacles of rubies,
your gates of sparkling jewels,
and all your walls of precious stones.
13 All your children will be taught by Yahweh,
and your children’s peace will be great.
14 You will be established in righteousness.
You will be far from oppression,
for you will not be afraid,
and far from terror,
for it shall not come near you.
15 Behold, they may gather together, but not by me.
Whoever gathers together against you will fall because of you.
16 "Behold, I have created the blacksmith who fans the coals into flame,
and forges a weapon for his work;
and I have created the destroyer to destroy.
17 No weapon that is formed against you will prevail;
and you will condemn every tongue that rises against you in judgment.
This is the heritage of Yahweh’s servants,
and their righteousness is of me," says Yahweh.

Te Kawenata Mutungakore o te Rangimārie
1 "Waiata, e te pākoko,
e koe kāhore anō nei i whānau;
kia pakaru mai te waiata, hāmama,
e koe kāhore anō kia whakamamae!
He tini hoki ngā tamariki a te noho kau
i ngā tamariki a te mea whai hoa,"
e ai tā Ihowā.
2 "Kia rahi atu te tūranga mō tōu tēneti;
kia mārō hoki ngā uhi o ōu nohoanga;
aua e kaiponuhia; kia roa ōu taura,
kia ū hoki ōu poupou.
3 Ka tohatoha noa atu hoki koe ki matau, ki mauī;
ā, ka riro ngā tauiwi i ōu uri;
mā rātou anō ka nohoia ai ngā pā kua ururuatia.
4 "Kaua e wehi; tā te mea e kore koe e whakamā;
kaua anō e numinumi, tā te mea e kore koe e whakamā;
nō te mea ka wareware i a koe te whakamā o tōu tamāhinetanga;
ā, heoi anō maharatanga ki te ingoa kino o tōu pouarutanga.
5 Ko tōu Kaihanga tāu tahu,
ko Ihowā o ngā mano tōna ingoa;
ko te Mea Tapu hoki o Īharaira tōu kaiwhakaora,
ko te Atua o te whenua katoa ka huaina ki a ia.
6 Nō te mea kua karanga a Ihowā ki a koe,
ānō he wahine kua whakarērea, kua pōuri te ngākau,
ānō he hoa wahine o te taitamarikitanga, i te mea kua mahue,
e ai tā tōu Atua.
7 He iti te wāhi i mahue ai koe i ahau;
he nui ia ngā atawhainga e kohikohi ai ahau i a koe.
8 He riri puhake,
i huna ahau i tōku kanohi i a koe, he wāhi iti;
he aroha mau tonu ia tōku e aroha ai ki a koe,"
e ai tā Ihowā, tā tōu kaiwhakaora.
9 "He pēnei hoki tēnei ki ahau me ngā wai i a Noa,
i ahau i oati rā, e kore e hurihia anō te whenua e ngā wai i a Noa.
Waihoki ka oati nei ahau, e kore ahau e riri ki a koe,
e kore anō e whakatūpehupehu ki a koe.
10 Ko ngā maunga hoki ka riro kē,
ko ngā pukepuke ka nekehia atu,
tēnā ko tōku aroha e kore e rerekē i a koe,
e kore anō e nekehia kētia te kawenata e mau ai taku rongo,"
e ai tā Ihowā e atawhai nei i a koe.
11 "E koe, kua whakawhiua nei, kua pūhia nei e te āwhā,
kāhore anō i whakamārietia,
nanā, māku ōu kōhatu e whakatakoto,
he pai hoki te kakano;
ka hangā anō e ahau ōu tūranga ki te hāpira.
12 Ka hangā anō e ahau ōu tihi ki te rupi,
ōu tatau ki te karapanaka,
ōu rohe katoa anō ki ngā kōhatu whakapaipai.
13 Ā, ka whakaakona e Ihowā āu tamariki katoa;
ka nui hoki te rangimārie ki āu tamariki.
14 Ka whakatūria koe ki runga ki te tika;
ka whakamataratia atu i a koe te tūkino;
e kore hoki koe e wehi;
e kore anō te pāwera e tata ki a koe.
15 Nanā, huihui noa rātou,
ehara ia i te mea nāku;
ko te tangata e huihui ana ki te whawhai ki a koe
ka papahoro, he mea mōu.
16 "Nanā, nāku i hanga te parakimete
e pupuhi nei i te ahi waro,
e mau nei i te mea hei mahi māna;
nāku hoki te kaihuna i hanga hei whakamōtī.
17 E kore tētahi patu e hangā ana mōu e mārohirohi;
ko ngā arero katoa e whakatika mai ana ki a koe
ki te whakawā, māu anō e whakahē.
Ko tā ngā pononga a Ihowā tēnei, tuku iho, tuku iho;
nāku hoki rātou i tika ai,"
e ai tā Ihowā.
