1 And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying, 2 Hallow unto me every firstborn, whatever breaketh open the womb among the children of Israel, of man and of cattle: it is mine. 3 And Moses said to the people, Remember this day, in which ye came out from Egypt, out of the house of bondage; for with a powerful hand hath Jehovah brought you out from this; and nothing leavened shall be eaten. 4 Ye come out to-day, in the month Abib. 5 And it shall be when Jehovah hath brought thee into the land of the Canaanite and the Hittite and the Amorite and the Hivite and the Jebusite, which he swore to thy fathers to give thee, a land flowing with milk and honey, that thou shalt keep this service in this month. 6 Seven days shalt thou eat unleavened bread; and in the seventh day is a feast to Jehovah. 7 Unleavened bread shall be eaten the seven days; and leavened bread shall not be seen with thee, neither shall there be leaven seen with thee in all thy borders. 8 And thou shalt inform thy son in that day, saying, It is because of what Jehovah did to me when I came out of Egypt. 9 And it shall be for a sign to thee on thy hand, and for a memorial between thine eyes, that the law of Jehovah may be in thy mouth; for with a powerful hand hath Jehovah brought thee out of Egypt. 10 And thou shalt keep this ordinance at its set time from year to year.

11 And it shall be when Jehovah hath brought thee into the land of the Canaanites, as he hath sworn to thee and to thy fathers, and hath given it thee, 12 that thou shalt offer unto Jehovah all that breaketh open the womb, and every firstling that cometh of cattle which is thine: the males shall be Jehovah’s. 13 And every firstling of an ass shalt thou ransom with a lamb; and if thou do not ransom it, thou shalt break its neck; and every firstborn of a man among thy sons shalt thou ransom. 14 And it shall be when thy son asketh thee in time to come, saying, What is this? that thou shalt say to him, With a powerful hand Jehovah brought us out from Egypt, out of the house of bondage. 15 And it came to pass, when Pharaoh stubbornly refused to let us go, that Jehovah slew all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both the firstborn of men and the firstborn of cattle: therefore I sacrifice to Jehovah all that breaketh open the womb — being males; and every firstborn of my children I ransom. 16 And it shall be for a sign on thy hand, and for frontlets between thine eyes, for with a powerful hand Jehovah brought us forth out of Egypt.

17 And it came to pass, when Pharaoh let the people go, that God*GodHebrew: Elohim did not lead them the way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God*GodHebrew: Elohim said, That the people may not repent when they see conflict, and return to Egypt. 18 And God*GodHebrew: Elohim led the people about, the way of the wilderness of the Red Sea; and the children of Israel went arrayed out of the land of Egypt. 19 And Moses took the bones of Joseph with him; for he had made the children of Israel swear an oath, saying, God*GodHebrew: Elohim will be sure to visit you; then ye shall carry my bones with you hence. 20 And they took their journey from Succoth, and encamped in Etham, at the end of the wilderness. 21 And Jehovah went before their face by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them in the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; so that they could go day and night. 22 The pillar of the cloud did not remove from before the people by day, nor the pillar of fire by night.

Domnul în țara canaaniților, hetiților, amoriților, heviților și iebusiților, pe care a*Cap. 6:8. jurat părinților tăi că ți-o va da, țară unde curge lapte și miere, să ții*Cap. 12:25,26. următoarea slujbă în luna aceasta. 6 Timp de șapte zile*Cap. 12:15,16., să mănânci azimi, și în ziua a șaptea, să fie o sărbătoare în cinstea Domnului. 7 În timpul celor șapte zile, să mâncați azimi; să nu se*Cap. 12:19. vadă la tine nimic dospit, nici aluat, pe toată întinderea țării tale. 8 Să spui*Vers. 14. Cap. 12:14.Num. 15:39.Deut. 6:8;11:18.Prov. 1:9.Is. 49:16.Ier. 22:24.Mat. 23:5. semn pe mână și ca un semn de aducere aminte pe frunte, între ochii tăi, pentru ca Legea Domnului să fie totdeauna în gura ta; căci cu mână puternică te-a scos Domnul din Egipt. 10 Să ții*Cap. 12:14,24. porunca aceasta la vremea hotărâtă, din an în an. 11 Când te va aduce Domnul în țara canaaniților, cum a jurat ție și părinților tăi, și când ți-o va da, 12 să*Vers. 2. Cap. 22:29;34:19.Lev. 27:26.Num. 8:17;18:15.Deut. 15:19.Ezec. 44:30. închini Domnului pe orice întâi născut, chiar pe orice întâi născut din vitele pe care le vei avea: orice parte bărbătească este a Domnului. 13 Să răscumperi*Cap. 34:20.Num. 18:15,16. cu un miel pe orice întâi născut*Num. 3:46,47;18:15,16. al măgăriței, iar dacă nu-l vei răscumpăra, să-i frângi gâtul. Să răscumperi, de asemenea, pe orice întâi născut de parte bărbătească dintre fiii tăi. 14 Și când te va*Cap. 12:26.Deut. 6:20.Ios. 4:6,21. Vers. 3. întreba fiul tău într-o zi: ‘Ce înseamnă lucrul acesta?’, să-i răspunzi: ‘Prin mâna Lui cea atotputernică, Domnul ne-a scos din Egipt, din casa robiei; 15 și, fiindcă Faraon se încăpățâna și nu voia să ne lase să plecăm, Domnul*Cap. 12:29. a omorât pe toți întâii născuți din țara Egiptului, de la întâii născuți ai oamenilor până la întâii născuți ai dobitoacelor. Iată de ce aduc jertfă Domnului pe orice întâi născut de parte bărbătească și răscumpăr pe orice întâi născut dintre fiii mei. 16 Să-ți fie ca un semn*Vers. 9. pe mână și ca un semn de aducere aminte pe frunte, între ochi, căci prin mâna Lui atotputernică ne-a scos Domnul din Egipt.’"

17 După ce Faraon a lăsat pe popor să plece, Dumnezeu nu l-a dus pe drumul care dă în țara filistenilor, măcar că era mai aproape, căci a zis Dumnezeu: „S-ar putea să-i pară*Cap. 14:11,12.Num. 14:1-4. rău poporului văzând războiul și să se întoarcă*Deut. 17:16. în Egipt." 18 Ci Dumnezeu a pus*Cap. 14:2.Num. 33:6. pe popor să facă un ocol pe drumul care duce spre pustie, spre Marea Roșie. Copiii lui Israel au ieșit înarmați din țara Egiptului. 19 Moise a luat cu el oasele lui Iosif; căci Iosif pusese pe fiii lui Israel să jure, zicând: „Când vă va cerceta Dumnezeu*Gen. 50:25.Ios. 24:32.Fapte 7:16., să luați cu voi oasele mele de aici." 20 Au plecat*Num. 33:6. din Sucot și au tăbărât la Etam, la marginea pustiei. 21 Domnul*Cap. 14:19,24;40:38.Num. 9:15;10:34;14:14.Deut. 1:33.Neem. 9:12,19.Ps. 78:14;99:7;105:39.Is. 4:5.1 Cor. 10:1. mergea înaintea lor: ziua într-un stâlp de nor, ca să-i călăuzească pe drum, iar noaptea într-un stâlp de foc, ca să-i lumineze, pentru ca să meargă și ziua, și noaptea. 22 Stâlpul de nor nu se depărta dinaintea poporului în timpul zilei, nici stâlpul de foc, în timpul nopții.
