1 And Jehovah said to Moses, See, I have made thee God*GodHebrew: Elohim to Pharaoh; and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet. 2 Thou shalt speak all that I command thee; and Aaron thy brother shall speak unto Pharaoh, that he let the children of Israel go out of his land. 3 And I will render Pharaoh’s heart obdurate, and multiply my signs and my wonders in the land of Egypt. 4 And Pharaoh will not hearken unto you; and I will lay my hand upon Egypt, and bring forth my hosts, my people, the children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by great judgments. 5 And the Egyptians shall know that I am Jehovah, when I stretch forth my hand on Egypt, and bring out the children of Israel from among them. 6 And Moses and Aaron did as Jehovah had commanded them: so did they. 7 And Moses was eighty years old, and Aaron was eighty-three years old, when they spoke to Pharaoh.

8 And Jehovah spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying, 9 When Pharaoh shall speak to you, saying, Do a miracle for yourselves, — then thou shalt say unto Aaron, Take thy staff and cast it before Pharaoh — it will become a serpent. 10 And Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh, and did so, as Jehovah had commanded; and Aaron cast down his staff before Pharaoh, and before his bondmen, and it became a serpent. 11 And Pharaoh also called the sages and the sorcerers; and they too, the scribes of Egypt, did so with their enchantments: 12 they cast down every man his staff, and they became serpents; but Aaron’s staff swallowed up their staves. 13 And Pharaoh’s heart was stubborn, and he hearkened not to them, as Jehovah had said.

14 And Jehovah said to Moses, Pharaoh’s heart is hardened: he refuseth to let the people go. 15 Go unto Pharaoh in the morning — behold, he will go out unto the water — and take thy stand by the bank of the river in front of him; and take in thy hand the staff that was turned into a serpent. 16 And say unto him, Jehovah the God*GodHebrew: Elohim of the Hebrews has sent me to thee, saying, Let my people go, that they may serve me in the wilderness; but behold, hitherto thou hast not hearkened. 17 Thus saith Jehovah: In this shalt thou know that I am Jehovah — behold, I will smite with the staff that is in my hand upon the water which is in the river, and it shall be turned into blood. 18 And the fish that is in the river shall die; and the river shall stink; and the Egyptians shall loathe to drink the water out of the river. 19 And Jehovah said to Moses, Say unto Aaron, Take thy staff, and stretch out thy hand upon the waters of the Egyptians — upon their streams, upon their rivers, and upon their ponds, and upon all their reservoirs of water, that they may become blood; and there shall be blood throughout the land of Egypt, both in vessels of wood and in vessels of stone. 20 And Moses and Aaron did so, as Jehovah had commanded; and he lifted up the staff, and smote the waters that were in the river before the eyes of Pharaoh, and before the eyes of his bondmen; and all the waters that were in the river were turned into blood. 21 And the fish that was in the river died; and the river stank, and the Egyptians could not drink the water of the river; and the blood was throughout the land of Egypt. 22 And the scribes of Egypt did so with their sorceries; and Pharaoh’s heart was stubborn, neither did he hearken to them, as Jehovah had said. 23 And Pharaoh turned and went into his house, and took not this to heart either. 24 And all the Egyptians dug round about the river for water to drink; for they could not drink of the water of the river. 25 And seven days were fulfilled, after Jehovah had smitten the river.

1 Domnul a zis lui Moise: „Iată că te fac Dumnezeu*Cap. 4:16.Ier. 1:10. pentru Faraon, și fratele tău, Aaron, va fi prorocul*Cap. 4:16. tău. 2 Tu vei spune tot*Cap. 4:15. ce-ți voi porunci Eu, iar fratele tău, Aaron, va vorbi lui Faraon, ca să lase pe copiii lui Israel să plece din țara lui. 3 Eu voi împietri*Cap. 4:21. inima lui Faraon și Îmi voi înmulți*Cap. 11:9. semnele*Cap. 4:7. și minunile în țara Egiptului. 4 Totuși Faraon n-are să v-asculte. Apoi Îmi voi întinde*Cap. 10:1;11:9. mâna asupra Egiptului și voi scoate din țara Egiptului oștile Mele, pe poporul Meu, pe copiii lui Israel, prin*Cap. 6:6. mari judecăți. 5 Egiptenii vor cunoaște*Vers. 17. Cap. 8:22;14:4,18.Ps. 9:16. că Eu sunt Domnul când Îmi voi întinde*Cap. 3:20. mâna asupra Egiptului și când voi scoate din mijlocul lor pe copiii lui Israel." 6 Moise și Aaron au făcut*Vers. 2. ce le poruncise Domnul: așa au făcut. 7 Moise era în vârstă de optzeci*Deut. 29:5;31:2;34:7.Fapte 7:23,30. de ani, iar Aaron, de optzeci și trei de ani când au vorbit lui Faraon.

8 Domnul a zis lui Moise și lui Aaron: 9 „Dacă vă va vorbi Faraon și vă va zice*Is. 7:11.Ioan 2:18;6:30.: ‘Faceți o minune!’, să zici lui Aaron: ‘Ia-ți*Cap. 4:2,17. toiagul și aruncă-l înaintea lui Faraon.’ Și toiagul se va preface într-un șarpe." 10 Moise și Aaron s-au dus la Faraon și au făcut cum*Vers. 9. poruncise Domnul. Aaron și-a aruncat toiagul înaintea lui Faraon și înaintea slujitorilor lui, și toiagul*Cap. 4:3. s-a prefăcut într-un șarpe. 11 Dar Faraon a chemat pe niște înțelepți*Gen. 41:8. și pe niște vrăjitori*2 Tim. 3:8., și vrăjitorii Egiptului au făcut*Vers. 22. Cap. 8:7,18. și ei la fel prin vrăjitoriile lor. 12 Toți și-au aruncat toiegele și s-au prefăcut în șerpi. Dar toiagul lui Aaron a înghițit toiegele lor. 13 Inima lui Faraon s-a împietrit și n-a ascultat de Moise și de Aaron, după*Cap. 4:21. Vers. 4. cum spusese Domnul.

14 Domnul a zis lui Moise: „Faraon are inima*Cap. 8:15;10:1,20,27. împietrită: nu vrea să lase poporul să plece. 15 Du-te la Faraon dis-de-dimineață, când are să iasă să se ducă la apă, și să te înfățișezi înaintea lui pe malul râului. Să-ți iei în mână toiagul*Cap. 4:2,3. Vers. 10. care a fost prefăcut în șarpe 16 și să zici lui Faraon: ‘Domnul Dumnezeul*Cap. 3:18. evreilor m-a trimis la tine să-ți spun: «Lasă pe poporul Meu să plece, ca*Cap. 3:12,18;5:1,3. să-Mi slujească în pustie.» Dar iată că până acum n-ai ascultat. 17 Acum, așa vorbește Domnul: «Iată cum vei cunoaște*Cap. 5:2. Vers. 5. că Eu sunt Domnul. Am să lovesc apele râului cu toiagul din mâna mea, și ele se vor preface*Cap. 4:9. în sânge*Apoc. 16:4,6.. 18 Peștii din râu vor pieri, râul se va împuți, așa că le va fi greață*Vers. 24. egiptenilor să bea din apa râului.»’" 19 Domnul a zis lui Moise: „Spune lui Aaron: ‘Ia-ți toiagul și întinde-ți*Cap. 8:5,6,16;9:22;10:12,21;14:21,26. mâna peste apele egiptenilor, peste râurile lor, peste pâraiele lor, peste iazurile lor și peste toate bălțile lor. Ele se vor preface în sânge și va fi sânge în toată țara Egiptului, atât în vasele de lemn, cât și în vasele de piatră.’" 20 Moise și Aaron au făcut cum le poruncise Domnul. Aaron a ridicat*Cap. 17:5. toiagul și a lovit apele*Ps. 78:44;105:29. râului sub ochii lui Faraon și sub ochii slujitorilor lui, și toate apele râului s-au prefăcut în sânge. 21 Peștii din râu au pierit, râul s-a împuțit, așa că egiptenii nu mai puteau*Vers. 18. să bea apa râului și a fost sânge în toată țara Egiptului. 22 Dar vrăjitorii*Vers. 11. Egiptului au făcut și ei la fel prin vrăjitoriile lor. Inima lui Faraon s-a împietrit și n-a ascultat de Moise și de Aaron, după cum*Vers. 3. spusese Domnul. 23 Faraon s-a întors de la râu și s-a dus acasă, dar nu și-a pus la inimă aceste lucruri. 24 Toți egiptenii au săpat în împrejurimile râului ca să găsească apă de băut, căci nu puteau să bea din apa râului. 25 Au trecut șapte zile după ce a lovit Domnul râul.
