He Poropititanga mō te Whakaoranga i ngā Hoariri
1 Auē te mate mōu e pāhua nei,
ā, kīhai koe i pāhuatia;
e tinihanga nei,
ā, kīhai anō koe i tinihangatia!
Kia mutu tāu pāhua,
ka pāhuatia anō koe;
kia mutu tāu tinihanga,
ka tinihangatia koe.
2 Kia atawhai, e Ihowā, ki a mātou;
kua tatari nei mātou ki a koe.
Ko koe hei ringa mō rātou i tēnei ata, i tēnei ata,
hei whakaora mō mātou i ngā wā o te raru.
3 I te rongonga i te ngangau, whati ana ngā iwi;
i tōu aranga ki runga, marara ana ngā iwi.
4 Ko te kohikohinga o ō koutou taonga ānō he moka e kohi ana;
kei te tarapeke o te māwhitiwhiti te rite ina kōkiritia e rātou.
5 Ka whakanuia a Ihowā; kei runga hoki tōna nohoanga;
nāna a Hiona i kī ai i te whakawā, i te tika;
6 ā, ka ū ngā wā i a koe;
hua tonu te whakaora, te whakaaro nui, te mātauranga;
ko te wehi ki a Ihowā hei taonga mōna.
7 Nanā, he tangi ō rātou māia i waho;
ko ngā karere hohou rongo,
tīwerawera ana te tangi.
8 Kua ururuatia ngā ara,
kua kore e haerea e te tangata.
Kua paheke i a ia te kawenata,
whakahāwea ana ia ki ngā pā;
kāhore te tangata e whakaaroa e ia.
9 E tangi ana te whenua, ngohe noa iho;
kua whakamā a Repanōna, kua memenge;
a Harono, rite tonu ki te koraha;
ko ngā rau o Pahana, o Karamere, ruirui rawa.
10 "Kātahi ahau ka whakatika," e ai tā Ihowā;
"kātahi ahau ka whakarewa ake i ahau,
kātahi ahau ka neke ake.
11 Ko tō koutou hapū he pāpapa,
whānau ake he kakau wīti;
ko tō koutou manawa, ka rite ki te ahi, ka kai i a koutou.
12 Ka rite hoki ngā iwi ki ngā tahunga kotakota;
ki te tātarāmoa kua tapahia, e tahuna ana ki te ahi."
13 Whakarongo, e koutou o tawhiti ki tāku i mea ai;
e te hunga e tata ana, kia mōhio mai ki tōku kaha.
14 Pawera noa iho ngā tāngata hara i Hiona,
mau pū te hunga atuakore i te tūiri.
"Ko wai o tātou e noho ki te ahi e kai ana?
Ko wai o tātou e noho ki ngā tahunga e kore nei e mutu?"
15 Ko te tangata e haere ana i runga i te tika, he tika anō āna kōrero;
ko te tangata e whakahāwea ana ki ngā taonga o te tūkino,
e rukerukea ana e tōna ringa te utu whakapati;
e punia ana ōna taringa kei rangona he kōrero toto,
e whakamoe ana i ōna kanohi kei kite i te kino;
16 ko te nohoanga mō tērā kei runga rawa;
ko tōna wāhi ārai riri ko ngā kaha o ngā kāmaka;
ka hōmai he taro māna,
ka pūmau te wai mōna.
Te Whenua o te Kīngi Rangatira
17 Ka kite ōu kanohi i te kīngi, i tōna ātaahua;
he hōhonu nei tō rātou reo, kāhore e rangona e koe;
he rerekē te reo, e kore e mātauria e koe.
20 Titiro ki Hiona, ki te pā o ā tātou hākari;
ka kitea e ōu kanohi a Hiruhārama,
he nohoanga hūmārie, he tēneti, e kore e nekehia;
ā, kore tētahi o ōna titi e unuhia ā ake ake,
e kore anō tētahi o ōna taura e motu.
21 Engari, ki reira a Ihowā ki a tātou me tōna nui,
hei wāhi mō ngā awa whānui mō ngā wai nunui;
kāhore hoki he waka e hoehoea ki reira,
kāhore he kaipuke nui e tika nā reira.
22 Nō te mea ko Ihowā tō tātou kaiwhakawā,
ko Ihowā tō tātou kaiwhakatakoto tikanga,
ko Ihowā tō tātou kīngi;
māna tātou e whakaora.
23 Kua tangoro kau ōu pūwhenua,
tē taea te tūranga o tō rātou rewa te whakaū,
tē taea te rā te whewhera.
Nā, nui atu te taonga parakete e wehewehea ana,
pāhuatia ana ngā taonga pārau e ngā kopa.
24 Kāhore hoki he kīanga ake a te tangata whenua, "He mate tōku";
ko te iwi e noho ana i reira, ka murua tō rātou hē.
1 Woe to thee that destroyest, and thou wast not destroyed; and dealest treacherously, and they dealt not treacherously with thee! When thou hast ceased to destroy, thou shalt be destroyed; and when thou hast made an end of dealing treacherously, they shall deal treacherously with thee. 2 O Jehovah, be gracious unto us; we have waited for thee: be thou our arm every morning, our salvation also in the time of trouble. 3 At the noise of the tumult the peoples are fled; at the lifting up of thyself the nations are scattered. 4 And your spoil shall be gathered as the caterpillar gathereth: as locusts leap shall men leap upon it. 5 Jehovah is exalted; for he dwelleth on high: he hath filled Zion with justice and righteousness. 6 And there shall be stability in thy times, abundance of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge: the fear of Jehovah is thy treasure.
7 Behold, their valiant ones cry without; the ambassadors of peace weep bitterly. 8 The highways lie waste, the wayfaring man ceaseth: the enemy hath broken the covenant, he hath despised the cities, he regardeth not man. 9 The land mourneth and languisheth; Lebanon is confounded and withereth away; Sharon is like a desert; and Bashan and Carmel shake off their leaves. 10 Now will I arise, saith Jehovah; now will I lift up myself; now will I be exalted. 11 Ye shall conceive chaff, ye shall bring forth stubble: your breath is a fire that shall devour you. 12 And the peoples shall be as the burnings of lime, as thorns cut down, that are burned in the fire.
13 Hear, ye that are far off, what I have done; and, ye that are near, acknowledge my might. 14 The sinners in Zion are afraid; trembling hath seized the godless ones: Who among us can dwell with the devouring fire? who among us can dwell with everlasting burnings? 15 He that walketh righteously, and speaketh uprightly; he that despiseth the gain of oppressions, that shaketh his hands from taking a bribe, that stoppeth his ears from hearing of blood, and shutteth his eyes from looking upon evil: 16 He shall dwell on high; his place of defence shall be the munitions of rocks; his bread shall be given him; his waters shall be sure.
17 Thine eyes shall see the king in his beauty: they shall behold a land that reacheth afar. 18 Thy heart shall muse on the terror: Where is he that counted, where is he that weighed the tribute? where is he that counted the towers? 19 Thou shalt not see the fierce people, a people of a deep speech that thou canst not comprehend, of a strange tongue that thou canst not understand. 20 Look upon Zion, the city of our solemnities: thine eyes shall see Jerusalem a quiet habitation, a tent that shall not be removed, the stakes whereof shall never be plucked up, neither shall any of the cords thereof be broken. 21 But there Jehovah will be with us in majesty, a place of broad rivers and streams, wherein shall go no galley with oars, neither shall gallant ship pass thereby. 22 For Jehovah is our judge, Jehovah is our lawgiver, Jehovah is our king; he will save us. 23 Thy tacklings are loosed; they could not strengthen the foot of their mast, they could not spread the sail: then was the prey of a great spoil divided; the lame took the prey. 24 And the inhabitant shall not say, I am sick: the people that dwell therein shall be forgiven their iniquity.
