He Kīngi e Tika ana te Whakahaere

1 Nanā, ka kīngi te kīngi i runga i te tika,

ka whakahaere tikanga anō ngā rangatira i runga i te whakawā.

2 Ā, ka ai he tangata hei kuhunga ina pā te hau,

hei piringa kei mate i te tūpuhi;

ka rite ki ngā awa wai i te wāhi maroke,

ki te ata o te kōhatu nui i te whenua ngaunga rā.

3 Nā, e kore e atarua ngā kanohi o te hunga kite;

ka whakarongo anō te hunga i te taringa rongo.

4 Ka mātauria anō te mātauranga e te ngākau o te hunga pōnānā,

ā, ka hohoro te arero o ngā reo kīkiki ki te kōrero mārama.

5 E kore te wairangi e kīia i muri he ohaoha,

e kore anō te kaiponu e kīia he atawhai.

6 Ka kōrero hoki te tangata nanakia i te nanakia,

ā, ka mahi tōna ngākau i te kino,

kia whakahāwea ai ki te tapu,

kia puta kē ai tāna kōrero ki a Ihowā,

kia noho tahanga ai i a ia te wairua o te tangata matekai,

kia mōtī ai hoki he wai mō te tangata matewai.

7 He kino hoki ngā hanga a te kaiponu;

e whakatakotoria ana e ia he whakaaro kino,

he kōrero teka e hē ai te hunga iti,

ahakoa e tika ana anō ngā kōrero a te rawakore.

8 He ohaoha ia ngā tikanga a te ohaoha;

ā, ka ū ia ki ngā mahi ohaoha.

Ngā Wāhine o Hiruhārama

9 Whakatika e ngā wāhine e noho pai ana,

whakarongo ki tōku reo;

e ngā tamāhine whakaarokore,

kia whai taringa, ki āku kupu.

10 He maha ngā rā i tua atu i te tau

e raruraru ai koutou, e ngā wāhine maharakore;

nō te mea ka kore te whakinga wāina,

e kore hoki e tae mai te kohikohinga.

11 E wiri, e ngā wāhine e noho hūmārie ana;

pōkaikaha noa iho, e te hunga maharakore;

whakarērea ngā kākahu, noho tahanga,

whītikiria he kākahu taratara ki ō koutou hope.

12 Ka papaki rātou ki ngā uma mō ngā māra ātaahua,

mō te wāina hua,

13 ka puta ake te tātarāmoa me te tūmatakuru

ki te oneone o tāku iwi,

inā, ki runga ki ngā whare koa katoa

o te pā hari.

14 Nō te mea ka mahue te whare kīngi,

ka whakarērea te pā tokomaha;

ko te puke me te pourewa

ka waiho hei ana ā ake ake,

hei mea e koa ai ngā kāihe mohoao,

hei wāhi kai mā ngā kāhui;

15 kia ringihia mai rā anō i runga te wairua ki a tātou,

kia meinga rā anō te koraha hei māra whai hua,

kia kīia anō te māra whai hua he ngahere.

Te Rangimārie o te Kīngitanga a Ihowā

16 Ko reira te whakawā noho ai ki te koraha,

ā, hei kāinga te māra hua mō te tika.

17 Ā, ko te mahi a te tika he rongo mau;

ko te whakaotinga o te tika he āta noho, he ngākau ū ā ake ake.

18 Ka noho hoki tāku iwi ki te nohoanga o te rongo mau,

ki ngā kāinga e ū ai te ngākau,

ki ngā okiokinga hūmārie.

19 Ka tārere iho ia te whatu i te hinganga o te ngahere;

ā, ka whakahoroa rawatia te pā ki raro.

20 Anō te hari o koutou,

o te hunga e whakatō ana ki te taha o ngā wai katoa,

e tuku atu ana i ngā waewae o te kau, o te kāihe.

1 Behold, a king shall reign in righteousness, and princes shall rule in justice. 2 And a man shall be as a hiding-place from the wind, and a covert from the tempest, as streams of water in a dry place, as the shade of a great rock in a weary land. 3 And the eyes of them that see shall not be dim, and the ears of them that hear shall hearken. 4 And the heart of the rash shall understand knowledge, and the tongue of the stammerers shall be ready to speak plainly. 5 The fool shall be no more called noble, nor the churl said to be bountiful. 6 For the fool will speak folly, and his heart will work iniquity, to practise profaneness, and to utter error against Jehovah, to make empty the soul of the hungry, and to cause the drink of the thirsty to fail. 7 And the instruments of the churl are evil: he deviseth wicked devices to destroy the meek with lying words, even when the needy speaketh right. 8 But the noble deviseth noble things; and in noble things shall he continue.

9 Rise up, ye women that are at ease, and hear my voice; ye careless daughters, give ear unto my speech. 10 For days beyond a year shall ye be troubled, ye careless women; for the vintage shall fail, the ingathering shall not come. 11 Tremble, ye women that are at ease; be troubled, ye careless ones; strip you, and make you bare, and gird sackcloth upon your loins. 12 They shall smite upon the breasts for the pleasant fields, for the fruitful vine. 13 Upon the land of my people shall come up thorns and briers; yea, upon all the houses of joy in the joyous city. 14 For the palace shall be forsaken; the populous city shall be deserted; the hill and the watch-tower shall be for dens for ever, a joy of wild asses, a pasture of flocks; 15 until the Spirit be poured upon us from on high, and the wilderness become a fruitful field, and the fruitful field be esteemed as a forest.

16 Then justice shall dwell in the wilderness; and righteousness shall abide in the fruitful field. 17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness, quietness and confidence for ever. 18 And my people shall abide in a peaceable habitation, and in safe dwellings, and in quiet resting-places. 19 But it shall hail in the downfall of the forest; and the city shall be utterly laid low. 20 Blessed are ye that sow beside all waters, that send forth the feet of the ox and the ass.
