Ka Whiua e Ihowā Āna Hoariri

1 Whakatata mai, e ngā iwi, kia rongo ai;

kia whai taringa mai, e ngā iwi!

Kia rongo te whenua, me ngā mea e hua ana i runga,

te ao, me ngā mea katoa e puta ana i roto i a ia.

2 Kei runga hoki i ngā iwi katoa te riri o Ihowā,

tōna weriweri kei runga i ō rātou ope katoa;

ngaro rawa i a ia, tukua ana kia patua.

3 Ka ākiritia atu anō ō rātou tūpāpaku i patua,

ka puta ake hoki te piro o ō rātou tinana;

ā, ka rewa ngā maunga i ō rātou toto.

4 Nā, ka memeha ngā ope katoa o te rangi,

ko ngā rangi, koia anō kei te pukapuka i pōkaia.

Ko ō rātou ope katoa ka whakangaro haere,

koia anō kei te rau wāina ka marere nei,

kei te rau piki e marere ana i runga i te rākau piki.

5 Kua inu hoki tāku hoari, mākona ana, i te rangi;

nanā, ka tae iho ki a Ēroma,

ki te iwi i kangā e ahau, ki te whakarite whakawā.

6 Kī tonu te hoari a Ihowā i te toto;

kua mōmona i te ngako,

i te toto o ngā reme, o ngā koati,

i te ngako o ngā whatukuhu o ngā hipi toa;

he patunga tapu hoki tā Ihowā i Potora,

he parekura nui i te whenua o Ēroma.

7 Ā, ka haere tahi mai i roto i a rātou ngā kau mākā,

ngā kau ōkiha rātou ko ngā pūru;

ā, ka haurangi tō rātou whenua i te toto,

ka mōmona tō rātou puehu i te ngako.

8 Ko te rā hoki ia o tā Ihowā rapu utu,

ko te tau whakautu mō tā Hiona totohe.

9 Ā, ka puta kē ōna awa hei kāpia,

ko tōna puehu hei whānāriki;

nā, ko tōna whenua, he kāpia e kā ana!

10 E kore e tineia i te pō, i te ao;

ka kake tōna paowa ake ake.

I tērā whakatupuranga, i tērā whakatupuranga ka takoto he ururua kau;

e kore tētahi tangata e tika nā reira ā ake tonu atu.

11 Ka riro anō a reira hei kāinga mō te kawau, mō te matuku;

ka noho anō te ruru rāua ko te raweni ki reira.

Ka whakamārōkia anō hoki e ia te taura o te pororaru ki runga,

me te kōhatu whakatika o te kore noa iho.

12 Ka karangatia ōna rangatira kia whakakīngitia, kāhore tētahi e tae mai;

ā, ka kore noa iho ōna rangatira katoa.

13 Ā, ka tupu te tātarāmoa ki ōna whare kīngi,

he ongaonga, he tūmatakuru ki ōna pā kaha,

ā, ka waiho hei nohoanga mō te kīrehe mohoao,

hei marae mō te otereti.

14 Ko ngā kurī mohoao o te koraha ka tūtaki ki ngā wuruhi,

ka karanga te mea āhua koati ki tōna hoa;

ka takoto anō te ngārara haere pō ki reira,

ka kitea he okiokinga mōna ki reira.

15 Ka hangā anō e te ruru nui tōna kōhanga ki reira,

whānau iho, pao iho ngā hua,

whakamine anō ki raro i tōna taumarumarunga iho;

ka huihui anō ki reira ngā whatura,

rātou ko tāna tāne, ko tāna tāne.

16 Rapua i roto i tā Ihowā pukapuka, kōrerotia hoki:

E kore tētahi o ēnei e ngaro,

e kore tētahi o ēnei e hapa i te tāne māna.

Nā tōku māngai nei hoki te whakahau,

ko tōna wairua anō tō rātou kaiwhakamine.

17 Nāna hoki i maka te rota mō tā rātou,

nā tōna ringa anō i wehewehe taua wāhi mō rātou, mea rawa ki te aho;

hei kāinga a reira mō rātou ā ake ake,

ka nohoia a reira e rātou i tēnā whakatupuranga, i tēnā whakatupuranga.

1 Come near, ye nations, to hear; and hearken, ye peoples: let the earth hear, and the fulness thereof; the world, and all things that come forth from it. 2 For Jehovah hath indignation against all the nations, and wrath against all their host: he hath utterly destroyed them, he hath delivered them to the slaughter. 3 Their slain also shall be cast out, and the stench of their dead bodies shall come up; and the mountains shall be melted with their blood. 4 And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll; and all their host shall fade away, as the leaf fadeth from off the vine, and as a fading leaf from the fig-tree. 5 For my sword hath drunk its fill in heaven: behold, it shall come down upon Edom, and upon the people of my curse, to judgment. 6 The sword of Jehovah is filled with blood, it is made fat with fatness, with the blood of lambs and goats, with the fat of the kidneys of rams; for Jehovah hath a sacrifice in Bozrah, and a great slaughter in the land of Edom. 7 And the wild-oxen shall come down with them, and the bullocks with the bulls: and their land shall be drunken with blood, and their dust made fat with fatness.

8 For Jehovah hath a day of vengeance, a year of recompense for the cause of Zion. 9 And the streams of Edom shall be turned into pitch, and the dust thereof into brimstone, and the land thereof shall become burning pitch. 10 It shall not be quenched night nor day; the smoke thereof shall go up for ever; from generation to generation it shall lie waste; none shall pass through it for ever and ever. 11 But the pelican and the porcupine shall possess it; and the owl and the raven shall dwell therein: and he will stretch over it the line of confusion, and the plummet of emptiness. 12 They shall call the nobles thereof to the kingdom, but none shall be there; and all its princes shall be nothing. 13 And thorns shall come up in its palaces, nettles and thistles in the fortresses thereof; and it shall be a habitation of jackals, a court for ostriches. 14 And the wild beasts of the desert shall meet with the wolves, and the wild goat shall cry to his fellow; yea, the night-monster shall settle there, and shall find her a place of rest. 15 There shall the dart-snake make her nest, and lay, and hatch, and gather under her shade; yea, there shall the kites be gathered, every one with her mate.

16 Seek ye out of the book of Jehovah, and read: no one of these shall be missing, none shall want her mate; for my mouth, it hath commanded, and his Spirit, it hath gathered them. 17 And he hath cast the lot for them, and his hand hath divided it unto them by line: they shall possess it for ever; from generation to generation shall they dwell therein.
