Isaías 46

1 Kua piko a Pere, kua tuohu a Nepo;

kei runga i te kīrehe, i te kararehe ā rātou whakapakoko;

ko ngā mea e haria haeretia ana e koutou ka meinga hei kawenga,

hei taimaha ki te kararehe māuiui rā.

2 Tuohu ana rātou, piko ngātahi ana;

kīhai i taea te pīkaunga te pupuri,

heoi ko rātou nei anō ka riro hei pārau.

3 "Whakarongo ki ahau, e te whare o Hākopa,

e ngā mōrehu katoa o te whare o Īharaira,

he mea waha nei koutou nāku nō te kōpū mai anō,

he mea pīkau nō roto mai rā anō i te puku;

4 tae noa atu ki tō koutou koroheketanga ko ahau tēnei,

ka pīkaua anō koutou e ahau ā hina noa.

Nāku i mahi, māku anō e mau;

māku anō e pīkau, māku anō e whakaora.

5 "Ki tā koutou kei tō wai he āhua mōku?

Ko wai e rite ana ki ahau?

Me whakarite ahau ki a wai, e kotahi ai tō māua āhua?

6 Ko te hunga e tāhoro ana i te kōura i te pēke,

e pāuna ana i te hiriwa ki te pāuna –

kei te utu i te kaitahu kōura, hangā ake e ia hei atua;

tāpapa ana rātou, koropiko ana.

7 Amohia ana ia e rātou i runga i te pokohiwi, pīkaua ana,

kua waiho e rātou ki tōna wāhi, tū ana ia;

tē taea e ia te nekeneke atu i tōna wāhi.

Ka karanga anō hoki tētahi ki a ia, heoi e kore ia e whakahoki kupu,

e kore e whakaora i a ia i roto i tōna mate.

8 "Mahara ki tēnei, whakatāne,

whakahokia ki te ngākau, e te hunga poka kē.

9 Maharatia ngā mea tuatahi onamata;

ko ahau hoki te Atua, kāhore kē atu;

ko ahau te Atua, kāhore hoki tētahi hei rite mōku.

10 I te tīmatanga e whakaatu ana i ngā mea o te mutunga,

ā, i ngā wā onamata ko ngā mea kāhore anō i meatia;

i kī ahau: Ko te whakaaro i whakatakotoria e ahau mau tonu,

ka oti anō i ahau tāku katoa i pai ai.

11 Ka karangatia hoki e ahau he manu kai kino i te rāwhiti,

ko te tangata kei a ia tōku whakaaro i te whenua tawhiti.

Inā, kua kōrerotia nei e ahau, ka whakaputaina anō e ahau;

kua takoto i ahau, ka oti anō i ahau.

12 "Whakarongo ki ahau, e te hunga ngākau pakari,

e matara atu ana i te tika.

13 Ka kawea mai e ahau tōku tika kia tata;

e kore e matara atu;

e kore anō tāku whakaora e roa;

ka whakawhiwhia anō e ahau a Hiona ki te whakaora,

mō Īharaira, mō tōku korōria."

1 Bel boweth down, Nebo stoopeth; their idols are upon the beasts, and upon the cattle: the things that ye carried about are made a load, a burden to the weary beast. 2 They stoop, they bow down together; they could not deliver the burden, but themselves are gone into captivity.

3 Hearken unto me, O house of Jacob, and all the remnant of the house of Israel, that have been borne by me from their birth, that have been carried from the womb; 4 and even to old age I am he, and even to hoar hairs will I carry you; I have made, and I will bear; yea, I will carry, and will deliver. 5 To whom will ye liken me, and make me equal, and compare me, that we may be like? 6 Such as lavish gold out of the bag, and weigh silver in the balance, they hire a goldsmith, and he maketh it a god; they fall down, yea, they worship. 7 They bear it upon the shoulder, they carry it, and set it in its place, and it standeth, from its place shall it not remove: yea, one may cry unto it, yet can it not answer, nor save him out of his trouble.

8 Remember this, and show yourselves men; bring it again to mind, O ye transgressors. 9 Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me; 10 declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things that are not yet done; saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure; 11 calling a ravenous bird from the east, the man of my counsel from a far country; yea, I have spoken, I will also bring it to pass; I have purposed, I will also do it.

12 Hearken unto me, ye stout-hearted, that are far from righteousness: 13 I bring near my righteousness, it shall not be far off, and my salvation shall not tarry; and I will place salvation in Zion for Israel my glory.
