Isaías 6

He Kitenga o Ihowā i roto i te Temepara

1 I te tau i mate ai a Kīngi Utia i kite ahau i te Ariki e noho ana i runga i te torōna, he tiketike, he mea whakarewa ake ki runga, kī tonu anō hoki te temepara i te remu o tōna. 2 E tū ana ngā herapima i runga ake i a ia; e ono ngā parirau o tētahi, o tētahi: i hīpokina e ia tōna mata ki tētahi rua, ōna waewae hoki ki tētahi rua, ā, ko tētahi rua hei rere māna. 3 Ā, i karanga rātou tētahi ki tētahi, i mea:

"He tapu, he tapu, he tapu, a Ihowā o ngā mano;

kī katoa te whenua i tōna korōria."

4 I oioi anō ngā pou o ngā tatau i te reo o tērā i karanga rā, kī tonu te whare i te paowa.

5 Nā, ko tāku kīanga ake: "Auē te mate mōku! Ka ngaro hoki ahau; he tangata ngutu poke hoki ahau, e noho ana i waenganui i te iwi ngutu poke; kua kite nei hoki ōku kanohi i te kīngi, i a Ihowā o ngā mano!"

6 Nā, ko te rerenga mai o tētahi o ngā herapima ki ahau, he waro mura i tōna ringa, he mea tango mai e ia i te āta ki te kokopi. 7 Whakapāngia mai ana e ia ki tōku māngai, me tāna kī mai, "Nanā, kua pā tēnei ki ōu ngutu; nā, kua riro tōu hē, kua murua tōu hara."

8 Nā, ka rongo ahau i te reo o te Ariki e mea ana, "Ko wai tāku e unga ai, ko wai tā tātou hei haere?"

Anō rā ko ahau, "Tēnei ahau, ngarea ko ahau."

9 Anō rā ko ia, "Haere, mea atu ki tēnei iwi:

‘Rongo noa koutou, e kore e mātau;

titiro noa koutou, e kore e kite.’

10 Meinga te ngākau o tēnei iwi kia ngako,

ō rātou taringa kia taimaha,

whakamoea ō rātou kanohi;

kei kite ō rātou kanohi,

kei rongo ō rātou taringa,

kei mātau ō rātou ngākau,

ā, ka tahuri, ka whakaorangia."

11 Anō rā ko ahau, "E te Ariki, kia pēhea te roa?"

Nā, ka mea ia:

"Kia ururuatia rā anō ngā pā,

ā, kore noa he tangata hei noho,

kia kore rā anō he tangata mō roto i ngā whare,

kia tino ururuatia rawatia anō hoki te whenua;

12 kia whakamataratia e Ihowā ngā tāngata ki tawhiti,

ā, ka nui te whakarerenga i waenganui i te whenua.

13 Ā, ki te mau anō he whakatekau i roto i a ia,

ka kainga tuaruatia anō ia;

ka rite ki te terepini, ki te oki,

e mau tonu nei tōna uho, i te mea kua tuaina."

Nā, hei uho mōna te uri tapu.

1 In the year that king Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and his train filled the temple. 2 Above him stood the seraphim: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. 3 And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is Jehovah of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory. 4 And the foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke. 5 Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, Jehovah of hosts.

6 Then flew one of the seraphim unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar: 7 and he touched my mouth with it, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin forgiven. 8 And I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then I said, Here am I; send me. 9 And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not. 10 Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and turn again, and be healed. 11 Then said I, Lord, how long? And he answered, Until cities be waste without inhabitant, and houses without man, and the land become utterly waste, 12 and Jehovah have removed men far away, and the forsaken places be many in the midst of the land. 13 And if there be yet a tenth in it, it also shall in turn be eaten up: as a terebinth, and as an oak, whose stock remaineth, when they are felled; so the holy seed is the stock thereof.
