Te Ngakinga Mate ki a Ēroma

1 Ko wai tēnei e haere mai nei i Ēroma,

he mea rongoā mai ngā kākahu i Potora?

Tēnei he korōria rawa nei ōna kākahu,

e haere ana i runga i te nui o tōna kaha?

"Ko ahau e kōrero atu nei i runga i te tika,

ko te mea kaha ki te whakaora."

2 He aha i whero ai ōu kākahu,

i rite ai ōu weweru ki ō te kaitakahi i te takahanga wāina?

3 "Nā tōku kotahi te takahanga wāina i takahi,

kāhore hoki he tangata o te iwi hei hoa mōku.

Takahia iho rātou e ahau, he riri nōku;

takatakahia ana rātou e ahau ki raro, i ahau e weriweri ana;

patī ana ō rātou toto ki ōku weruweru,

whakapokea iho e ahau tōku kākahu katoa.

4 Kei roto hoki i tōku ngākau te rā o te rapu utu;

kua tae mai anō te tau o āku i hoko ai.

5 Nā, ka titiro atu ahau, ā, kāhore he kaiāwhina,

mīharo ana ahau nō te mea kāhore he kaitautoko ake;

nā, kua meatia e tōku tākakau,

he whakaoranga mōku;

ko tōku weriweri, nā tērā ahau i tautoko ake.

6 Nā, takahia ana e ahau ngā iwi, i ahau e riri nei;

i ahau anō e weriweri ana ka whakahaurangitia rātou e ahau,

ā, ringihia ana e ahau tō rātou toto ki te whenua."

7 Ka whakahuatia e ahau ngā mahi aroha a Ihowā,

ngā whakamoemiti ki a Ihowā,

ka rite ki ngā mea i hōmai e Ihowā ki a tātou;

ki te nui hoki o te pai ki te whare o Īharaira

i hōmai nei e ia ki a rātou;

he mea i rite tonu ki āna mahi tohu tangata,

ki te nui anō o āna mahi aroha.

8 I mea hoki ia, "He pono, ko tāku iwi rātou,

he tamariki e kore e kōrero teka";

nā, ko ia tō rātou kaiwhakaora.

9 I ō rātou pōuritanga ngākau katoa i pōuri anō ia,

ā, whakaorangia ake rātou e te anahera o tōna aroaro.

He aroha nōna, he mahi tohu tangata i hoko ai ia i a rātou,

hikitia ana rātou,

whakahāereerea ana i ngā rā katoa onamata.

10 Heoi, whakakeke ana rātou

whakapōuritia iho e rātou tōna Wairua Tapu.

Nā, ka puta kē ia hei hoariri mō rātou;

kei te whawhai anō ia ki a rātou.

11 Kātahi ia ka mahara ki ngā rā o mua,

ki a Mohi, ki tāna iwi, i mea ia,

Kei hea ia nāna rātou i kawe ake i te moana

me ngā hēpara o tāna kāhui?

Kei hea te kaiwhakanoho

o tōna Wairua Tapu ki waenganui i a rātou?

12 I ārahi nei i a rātou, he meatanga nā te ringa matau o Mohi,

nā tōna tākakau korōria?

I wāhi nei i ngā wai i tō rātou aroaro,

hei mea i tētahi ingoa mōna e mau tonu ana?

13 I ārahi nei i a rātou i waenganui o te moana,

ānō he hōiho i te koraha, tē hinga rātou?

14 Kei te kararehe e haere ana ki raro ki te awaawa te rite,

pērā tonu tā te Wairua o Ihowā meatanga i a rātou kia okioki.

Pērā tonu tāu arahanga i tāu iwi,

i whai ingoa korōria ai koe.

15 Titiro mai i runga i te rangi, mātakitaki mai

i runga i te nohoanga o tōu tapu, o tōu korōria.

Ko te ohoohonga o ōu whēkau,

ko āu mahi tohu ka pēhia iho ki ahau.

16 He pono ko koe tō mātou pāpā,

kāhore nei hoki a Āperahama e mōhio ki a mātou,

kāhore anō hoki a Īharaira e mahara ki a mātou;

ko koe, e Ihowā, tō mātou pāpā;

e takatakahia ana tōu wāhi tapu e ō mātou hoariri.

19 Kua meinga mātou kia rite ki te hunga kīhai nei koe i kīngi mō rātou;

ki te hunga kīhai nei i huaina ki tōu ingoa.

1 Who is this that cometh from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? this that is glorious in his apparel, marching in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save. 2 Wherefore art thou red in thine apparel, and thy garments like him that treadeth in the winevat? 3 I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the peoples there was no man with me: yea, I trod them in mine anger, and trampled them in my wrath; and their lifeblood is sprinkled upon my garments, and I have stained all my raiment. 4 For the day of vengeance was in my heart, and the year of my redeemed is come. 5 And I looked, and there was none to help; and I wondered that there was none to uphold: therefore mine own arm brought salvation unto me; and my wrath, it upheld me. 6 And I trod down the peoples in mine anger, and made them drunk in my wrath, and I poured out their lifeblood on the earth.

7 I will make mention of the lovingkindnesses of Jehovah, and the praises of Jehovah, according to all that Jehovah hath bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which he hath bestowed on them according to his mercies, and according to the multitude of his lovingkindnesses. 8 For he said, Surely, they are my people, children that will not deal falsely: so he was their Saviour. 9 In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old.

10 But they rebelled, and grieved his holy Spirit: therefore he was turned to be their enemy, and himself fought against them. 11 Then he remembered the days of old, Moses and his people, saying, Where is he that brought them up out of the sea with the shepherds of his flock? where is he that put his holy Spirit in the midst of them? 12 that caused his glorious arm to go at the right hand of Moses? that divided the waters before them, to make himself an everlasting name? 13 that led them through the depths, as a horse in the wilderness, so that they stumbled not? 14 As the cattle that go down into the valley, the Spirit of Jehovah caused them to rest: so didst thou lead thy people, to make thyself a glorious name.

15 Look down from heaven, and behold from the habitation of thy holiness and of thy glory: where are thy zeal and thy mighty acts? the yearning of thy heart and thy compassions are restrained toward me. 16 For thou art our Father, though Abraham knoweth us not, and Israel doth not acknowledge us: thou, O Jehovah, art our Father; our Redeemer from everlasting is thy name. 17 O Jehovah, why dost thou make us to err from thy ways, and hardenest our heart from thy fear? Return for thy servants’ sake, the tribes of thine inheritance. 18 Thy holy people possessed it but a little while: our adversaries have trodden down thy sanctuary. 19 We are become as they over whom thou never barest rule, as they that were not called by thy name.
