Ko Ihowā te Kaihanga, te Kaiwhakaora hoki
1 "Whakarongo ki tēnei, e te whare o Hākopa,
e te hunga kua huaina nei ko Īharaira hei ingoa mō koutou,
kua puta ake nei i roto i ngā wai o Hūrā;
e whakaoati ana i te ingoa o Ihowā,
e whakahua ana i te Atua o Īharaira,
ehara ia i te mea i runga i te pono, i te tika.
2 Ki tā rātou karanga hoki, nō te pā tapu rātou,
e okioki ana hoki ki te Atua o Īharaira;
ko Ihowā o ngā mano tōna ingoa.
3 "He mea whakaatu nāku nōnamata ngā mea ō mua;
āe rā, i puta anō hoki aua mea i tōku māngai, he mea kōrero nāku;
kitea rawatia ake kua mahia e ahau, kua puta.
4 I mōhio hoki ahau he pakeke koe,
he uaua rino hoki tōu kakī,
he parāhi tōu rae.
5 Nā reira nāku i whakaatu ki a koe inamata;
kīanō i puta kua kōrerotia e ahau ki a koe;
kei kī koe, ‘Nā tāku whakapakoko ēnā mahi,
he mea whakahau ēnei nā te mea i whaowhaoa e ahau,
nā te mea i whakarewaina e ahau.’
6 "Kua rongo koe; tirohia tēnei katoa;
ā, e kore ianei e whakaaturia e koutou?
Kua kōrerotia nei e ahau ki a koe he mea hou,
he mea i muri i tēnei wā, he mea huna, kīhai i mōhiotia e koe.
7 He mea hanga nōnāianei, kāhore hoki inamata;
i mua i tēnei rā kīhai i rangona e koutou;
kei kī koe, ‘Nanā, i mōhiotia e ahau.’
8 Āe rā, kīhai koe i rongo, kīhai i mōhio;
āe rā, mai ō mua kīhai tōu taringa i whakapuaretia.
I mōhio hoki ahau i mahi tinihanga koe,
ā, nō te kōpū anō koe i huaina ai he poka kē.
9 "Ka whakaaro ahau ki tōku ingoa, ā, ka pūhoi tōku riri;
ka whakaaro ki te whakamoemiti ki ahau,
ā, ka pēhi i tāku ki a koe, kei hātepea atu koe.
10 Kua oti ōu para te tahi e ahau, ehara ia i te mea hei hiriwa;
he mea whiriwhiri koe nāku i roto i te oumu, i te tangi.
11 He whakaaro ki ahau, he whakaaro ki ahau, i meatia ai tēnei e ahau.
Kia whakapokea koia tōku ingoa?
E kore anō tōku korōria e hoatu e ahau ki tētahi atu.
12 "Whakarongo ki ahau, e Hākopa,
e Īharaira, e tāku i karanga ai:
Ko ahau ia, ko ahau te tuatahi,
ko ahau anō te mutunga.
13 Āe rā, nā tōku ringa i whakatakoto ngā tūranga o te whenua,
nā tōku matau i hora ngā rangi;
ki te karangatia rātou e ahau,
ka tū ngātahi rātou.
14 "Huihui mai, e koutou katoa, whakarongo hoki!
Nā wai o rātou ēnei mea i whakaatu?
He mea aroha ia nā Ihowā;
ka oti i a ia tāna i pai ai ki Papurōna,
ka pā anō tōna ringa ki ngā Karari.
15 Nāku, nāku te kupu, āe rā, he mea karanga ia nāku,
nāku ia i kawe mai, ka tika anō i a ia tōna ara.
16 "Whakatata mai ki ahau, whakarongo ki tēnei!
"Ko tāku, nō te tīmatanga rā anō ehara i te kōrero puku;
i ngā wā o aua mea, i reira ahau."
Nā ināianei, nā te Ariki, nā Ihowā ahau i unga mai,
nā tōna wairua anō.
17 Ko te kupu tēnei a Ihowā,
a tōu kaihoko, a te Mea Tapu o Īharaira:
"Ko Ihowā ahau, ko tōu Atua
e whakaako nei i a koe ki te pai mōu,
e ārahi nei i a koe i te ara e haere ai koe.
18 Auē, me i rongo koe ki āku whakahau,
inā, kua rite ki te awa te mau o te rongo ki a koe;
ko tōu tika, koia anō kei ngā ngaru o te moana.
19 Kua rite anō ōu uri ki te onepū,
ngā whānau o ōu whēkau ki te kirikiri o reira;
ko tōna ingoa kīhai i hātepea atu,
kīhai i whakangaromia i tōku aroaro."
20 Haere atu i Papurōna,
e rere i roto i ngā Karari;
kia waiata te reo i a koutou e whakaatu ana;
kōrerotia tēnei,
whakapuakina ki te pito o te whenua;
kī atu, "Kua oti i a Ihowā tāna pononga, a Hākopa te hoko."
21 Kīhai anō rātou i matewai i a ia e ārahi ana i a rātou i ngā koraha;
i meinga e ia te wai mō rātou kia rere i roto i te kāmaka;
i wāhia e ia te kāmaka,
ā, pupū mai ana te wai.
22 "Kāhore he maunga rongo ki te hunga kino," e ai tā Ihowā.
1 Hear ye this, O house of Jacob, who are called by the name of Israel, and are come forth out of the waters of Judah; who swear by the name of Jehovah, and make mention of the God of Israel, but not in truth, nor in righteousness 2 (for they call themselves of the holy city, and stay themselves upon the God of Israel; Jehovah of hosts is his name): 3 I have declared the former things from of old; yea, they went forth out of my mouth, and I showed them: suddenly I did them, and they came to pass. 4 Because I knew that thou art obstinate, and thy neck is an iron sinew, and thy brow brass; 5 therefore I have declared it to thee from of old; before it came to pass I showed it thee; lest thou shouldest say, Mine idol hath done them, and my graven image, and my molten image, hath commanded them. 6 Thou hast heard it; behold all this; and ye, will ye not declare it? I have showed thee new things from this time, even hidden things, which thou hast not known. 7 They are created now, and not from of old; and before this day thou heardest them not; lest thou shouldest say, Behold, I knew them. 8 Yea, thou heardest not; yea, thou knewest not; yea, from of old thine ear was not opened: for I knew that thou didst deal very treacherously, and wast called a transgressor from the womb. 9 For my name’s sake will I defer mine anger, and for my praise will I refrain for thee, that I cut thee not off. 10 Behold, I have refined thee, but not as silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction. 11 For mine own sake, for mine own sake, will I do it; for how should my name be profaned? and my glory will I not give to another.
12 Hearken unto me, O Jacob, and Israel my called: I am he; I am the first, I also am the last. 13 Yea, my hand hath laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand hath spread out the heavens: when I call unto them, they stand up together. 14 Assemble yourselves, all ye, and hear; who among them hath declared these things? He whom Jehovah loveth shall perform his pleasure on Babylon, and his arm shall be on the Chaldeans. 15 I, even I, have spoken; yea, I have called him; I have brought him, and he shall make his way prosperous. 16 Come ye near unto me, hear ye this; from the beginning I have not spoken in secret; from the time that it was, there am I: and now the Lord Jehovah hath sent me, and his Spirit.
17 Thus saith Jehovah, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: I am Jehovah thy God, who teacheth thee to profit, who leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go. 18 Oh that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments! then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea: 19 thy seed also had been as the sand, and the offspring of thy bowels like the grains thereof: his name would not be cut off nor destroyed from before me.
20 Go ye forth from Babylon, flee ye from the Chaldeans; with a voice of singing declare ye, tell this, utter it even to the end of the earth: say ye, Jehovah hath redeemed his servant Jacob. 21 And they thirsted not when he led them through the deserts; he caused the waters to flow out of the rock for them; he clave the rock also, and the waters gushed out. 22 There is no peace, saith Jehovah, to the wicked.
