1 For the Chief Musician. [A Psalm] of David the slave of Yahweh. The transgression of the wicked says inside his heart, There is no fear of God before his eyes.2 For he flatters himself in his own eyes, That his iniquity will not be found out and be hated.3 The words of his mouth are iniquity and deceit: He has ceased to be wise [and] to do good.4 He devises iniquity on his bed; He sets himself in a way that is not good; He does not abhor evil.5 Your loving-kindness, O Yahweh, is in the heavens; Your faithfulness [reaches] to the skies.6 Your righteousness is like the mountains of God; Your judgments are a great deep: O Yahweh, you preserve man and beast.7 How precious is your loving-kindness, O God! And the sons of man take refuge under the shadow of your wings.8 They will be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of your house; And you will make them drink of the river of your pleasures.9 For with you is the fountain of life: In your light we will see light.10 Oh continue your loving-kindness to those who know you, And your righteousness to the upright in heart.11 Don't let the foot of pride come against me, And don't let the hand of the wicked drive me away.12 There the workers of iniquity have fallen: They are thrust down, and will not be able to rise.

1 Há no meu íntimo um oráculo a respeito da maldade do ímpio: Aos seus olhos é inútil temer a Deus.2 Ele se acha tão importante, que não percebe nem rejeita o seu pecado.3 As palavras da sua boca são maldosas e traiçoeiras; abandonou o bom senso e não quer fazer o bem.4 Até na sua cama planeja maldade; nada há de bom no caminho a que se entregou, e ele nunca rejeita o mal.5 O teu amor, Senhor, chega até os céus; a tua fidelidade até as nuvens.6 A tua justiça é firme como as altas montanhas; as tuas decisões insondáveis como o grande mar. Tu, Senhor, preservas tanto os homens quanto os animais.7 Como é precioso o teu amor, ó Deus! Os homens encontram refúgio à sombra das tuas asas.8 Eles se banqueteiam na fartura da tua casa; tu lhes dás de beber do teu rio de delícias.9 Pois em ti está a fonte da vida; graças à tua luz, vemos a luz.10 Estende o teu amor aos que te conhecem, a tua justiça aos que são retos de coração.11 Não permitas que o arrogante me pisoteie, nem que a mão do ímpio me faça recuar.12 Lá estão os malfeitores caídos, lançados ao chão, incapazes de levantar-se!
