1 For the Chief Musician; set to the Gittith. [A Psalm] of Asaph. Sing aloud to God our strength: Make a joyful noise to the God of Jacob.2 Raise a song, and bring here the timbrel, The pleasant harp with the psaltery.3 Blow the trumpet at the new moon, At the full moon, on our feast-day.4 For it is a statute for Israel, An ordinance of the God of Jacob.5 He appointed it in Joseph for a testimony, When he went out over the land of Egypt, [Where] I heard a language that I did not know.6 I removed his shoulder from the burden: His hands were freed from the basket.7 You called in trouble, and I delivered you; I answered you in the secret place of thunder; I proved you at the waters of Meribah. Selah.8 Hear, O my people, and I will testify to you: O Israel, if you would listen to me!9 There will be no strange god in you; Neither will you worship any foreign god.10 I am Yahweh your God, Who brought you up out of the land of Egypt: Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.11 But my people did not listen to my voice; And Israel did not want me.12 So I let them go after the stubbornness of their heart, That they might walk in their own counsels.13 Oh that my people would listen to me, That Israel would walk in my ways!14 I would soon subdue their enemies, And turn my hand against their adversaries.15 The haters of Yahweh should submit themselves to him: But their time should endure forever.16 He would feed them also with the finest of the wheat; And with honey out of the rock I would satisfy you.

1 Cantem de alegria a Deus, nossa força; aclamem o Deus de Jacó!2 Comecem o louvor, façam ressoar o tamborim, toquem a lira e a harpa melodiosa.3 Toquem a trombeta na lua nova e no dia de lua cheia, dia da nossa festa;4 porque este é um decreto para Israel, uma ordenança do Deus de Jacó,5 que ele estabeleceu como estatuto para José, quando atacou o Egito. Ali ouvimos uma língua que não conhecíamos.6 Ele diz: "Tirei o peso dos seus ombros; suas mãos ficaram livres dos cestos de cargas.7 Na sua aflição vocês clamaram e eu os livrei, do esconderijo dos trovões lhes respondi; eu os pus à prova nas águas de Meribá. Pausa8 "Ouça, meu povo, as minhas advertências; se tão-somente você me escutasse, ó Israel!9 Não tenha deus estrangeiro no seu meio; não se incline perante nenhum deus estranho.10 Eu sou o Senhor, o seu Deus, que o tirei da terra do Egito. Abra a sua boca, e eu o alimentarei.11 "Mas o meu povo não quis ouvir-me; Israel não quis obedecer-me.12 Por isso os entreguei ao seu coração obstinado, para seguirem os seus próprios planos.13 "Se o meu povo apenas me ouvisse, se Israel seguisse os meus caminhos,14 com rapidez eu subjugaria os seus inimigos e voltaria a minha mão contra os seus adversários!15 Os que odeiam o Senhor se renderiam diante dele, e receberiam um castigo perpétuo.16 Mas eu sustentaria Israel com o melhor trigo, e com o mel da rocha eu o satisfaria".
