1 For the Chief Musician. Maschil of David; when Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul, and said to him, David has come to the house of Ahimelech. Why do you boast yourself in mischief, O mighty man? The loving-kindness of God [endures] continually.2 Your tongue devises much wickedness, Like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.3 You love evil more than good, And lying rather than to speak righteousness. Selah.4 You love all devouring words, O you deceitful tongue.5 God will likewise destroy you forever; He will take you up, and pluck you out of your tent, And root you out of the land of the living. Selah.6 The righteous also will see [it], and fear, And will laugh at him, [saying],7 Look, this is the [prominent] man who did not make God his strength, But trusted in the abundance of his riches, And strengthened himself in his plunder.8 But as for me, I am like a green olive-tree in the house of God: I trust in the loving-kindness of God forever and ever.9 I will give you thanks forever, because you have done it; And I will proclaim your name, for it is good, in the presence of your saints.

Pausa6 Os justos verão isso e temerão; rirão dele, dizendo:7 "Veja só o homem que rejeitou a Deus como refúgio; confiou em sua grande riqueza e buscou refúgio em sua maldade! "8 Mas eu sou como uma oliveira que floresce na casa de Deus; confio no amor de Deus para todo o sempre.9 Para sempre te louvarei pelo que fizeste; na presença dos teus fiéis proclamarei o teu nome, porque tu és bom.
