1 Acaso falais vós, deveras, ó congregação, a justiça? Julgais retamente, ó filhos dos homens?2 Antes no coração forjais iniquidades; sobre a terra pesais a violência das vossas mãos.3 Alienam-se os ímpios desde a madre; andam errados desde que nasceram, falando mentiras.4 O seu veneno é semelhante ao veneno da serpente; são como a víbora surda, que tapa os ouvidos,5 Para não ouvir a voz dos encantadores, do encantador sábio em encantamentos.6 Ó Deus, quebra-lhes os dentes nas suas bocas; arranca, Senhor, os queixais aos filhos dos leões.7 Escorram como águas que correm constantemente. Quando ele armar as suas flechas, fiquem feitas em pedaços.8 Como a lesma se derrete, assim se vá cada um deles; como o aborto de uma mulher, que nunca viu o sol.9 Antes que as vossas panelas sintam o calor dos espinhos, como por um redemoinho os arrebatará ele, vivo e em indignação.10 O justo se alegrará quando vir a vingança; lavará os seus pés no sangue do ímpio.11 Então dirá o homem: Deveras há uma recompensa para o justo; deveras há um Deus que julga na terra.

1 To the chief musician Altashcheth, by David, a Michtham. (58:2) Do you indeed, who are dumb, speak righteously? do ye judge in uprightness, O ye sons of men?2 (58:3) Even in your heart ye work injustice: on the earth do ye weigh out the violence of your hands.3 (58:4) The wicked are estranged from goodness from the womb: those who speak lies go astray from their very birth.4 (58:5) They have poison like the poison of a serpent: they are like the deaf adder that stoppeth her ear;5 (58:6) Which will not hearken to the voice of conjurers, yea, that of the wisest of all charmers.6 (58:7) O God, break out their teeth in their mouth: the jawteeth of the young lions tear thou out, O Lord.7 (58:8) Let them melt away as water which runneth off: when each one bendeth his bow to shoot his arrows, let them be as if cut in pieces.8 (58:9) As a snail which melteth, let him pass away; like the untimely birth of a woman which hath not seen the sun.9 (58:10) Before your pots can feel the thorns, will he take them away with a whirlwind, both the green and the burning.10 (58:11) The righteous will rejoice when he seeth the vengeance: he will bathe his steps in the blood of the wicked.11 (58:12) So that a man shall say, Verily fruit will come for the righteous: verily there is a God that judgeth on the earth.
