1 Ó Senhor Deus, a quem a vingança pertence, ó Deus, a quem a vingança pertence, mostra-te resplandecente.2 Exalta-te, tu, que és juiz da terra; dá a paga aos soberbos.3 Até quando os ímpios, Senhor, até quando os ímpios saltarão de prazer?4 Até quando proferirão, e falarão coisas duras, e se gloriarão todos os que praticam a iniquidade?5 Reduzem a pedaços o teu povo, ó Senhor, e afligem a tua herança.6 Matam a viúva e o estrangeiro, e ao órfão tiram a vida.7 Contudo dizem: O Senhor não o verá; nem para isso atenderá o Deus de Jacó.8 Atendei, ó brutais dentre o povo; e vós, loucos, quando sereis sábios?9 Aquele que fez o ouvido não ouvirá? E o que formou o olho, não verá?10 Aquele que repreende os gentios não castigará? E o que ensina ao homem o conhecimento, não saberá?11 O Senhor conhece os pensamentos do homem, que são vaidade.12 Bem-aventurado é o homem a quem tu castigas, ó Senhor, e a quem ensinas a tua lei;13 Para lhe dares descanso dos dias maus, até que se abra a cova para o ímpio.14 Pois o Senhor não rejeitará o seu povo, nem desamparará a sua herança.15 Mas o juízo voltará à retidão, e segui-lo-ão todos os retos de coração.16 Quem será por mim contra os malfeitores? Quem se porá por mim contra os que praticam a iniquidade?17 Se o Senhor não tivera ido em meu auxílio, a minha alma quase que teria ficado no silêncio.18 Quando eu disse: O meu pé vacila; a tua benignidade, Senhor, me susteve.19 Na multidão dos meus pensamentos dentro de mim, as tuas consolações recrearam a minha alma.20 Porventura o trono de iniquidade te acompanha, o qual forja o mal por uma lei?21 Eles se ajuntam contra a alma do justo, e condenam o sangue inocente.22 Mas o Senhor é a minha defesa; e o meu Deus é a rocha do meu refúgio.23 E trará sobre eles a sua própria iniquidade; e os destruirá na sua própria malícia; o Senhor nosso Deus os destruirá.

1 O God, of vengeance, Lord! O God of vengeance, shine forth.2 Lift up thyself, O judge of the Earth! bring a recompense upon the proud.3 How long shall the wicked, O Lord––how long shall the wicked exult?4 They sputter, they speak hard things: all the workers of wickedness boast themselves.5 Thy people, O Lord! they crush, and thy heritage they afflict.6 The widow and the stranger they slay, and the fatherless they murder.7 And they say, The Lord will not see, and the God of Jacob will not take notice of it.8 Understand, ye brutish among the people: and ye fools, when will ye become intelligent!9 He that hath planted the ear, shall he not hear? or he that hath formed the eye, shall he not see?10 He that admonisheth nations, shall he not correct? is it not he that teacheth man knowledge!11 The Lord knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are nought.12 Happy is the man whom thou admonisheth, O Lord, and teachest him out of thy law:13 That thou mayest grant him repose from the days of evil, until the pot be dug for the wicked.14 For the Lord will not cast off his people, and his inheritance will he not forsake.15 For unto righteousness will justice return; and it shall be followed by all the upright in heart.16 Who will rise up for me against evil–doers? or who will stand forward for me against the workers of wickedness?17 Unless the Lord had been a help unto me, but a little would have been wanting that my soul had dwelt in the silence of death.18 When I said, My foot hath slipped: thy kindness, O Lord, sustained me.19 In the multitude of my painful thoughts within me, thy consolations delight my soul.20 Can there be associated with thee the throne of destructive wickedness, which frameth mischief as a law?21 They band themselves together against the soul of the righteous, and innocent blood do they condemn.22 But the Lord is become my defence, and my God, the rock of my refuge.23 And he will bring back upon them their own injustice, and in their own wickedness will he destroy them: yea, he will destroy them––the Lord our God.
