1 And Jehovah answered Job and said, 2 Shall he that will contend with the Almighty instruct him? he that reproveth +GodGodHebrew: Eloah let him answer it. 3 And Job answered Jehovah and said, 4 Behold, I am nought: what shall I answer thee? I will lay my hand upon my mouth. 5 Once have I spoken, and I will not answer; yea twice, but I will proceed no further.
6 And Jehovah answered Job out of the whirlwind and said, 7 Gird up now thy loins like a man: I will demand of thee, and inform thou me. 8 Wilt thou also annul my judgment? wilt thou condemn me that thou mayest be righteous? 9 Hast thou an arm like ·GodGodHebrew: El or canst thou thunder with a voice like him? 10 Deck thyself now with glory and excellency, and clothe thyself with majesty and splendour. 11 Cast abroad the ragings of thine anger, and look on every one that is proud, and abase him: 12 Look on every one that is proud, bring him low, and tread down the wicked in their place: 13 Hide them in the dust together; bind their faces in secret. 14 Then will I also praise thee, because thy right hand saveth thee.
15 See now the behemoth, which I made with thee: he eateth grass as an ox. 16 Behold now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the muscles of his belly. 17 He bendeth his tail like a cedar; the sinews of his thighs are woven together. 18 His bones are tubes of bronze, his members are like bars of iron. 19 He is the chief of ·God’sGodHebrew: El ways: he that made him gave him his sword. 20 For the mountains bring him forth food, where all the beasts of the field play. 21 He lieth under lotus-bushes, in the covert of the reed and fen: 22 Lotus-bushes cover him with their shade; the willows of the brook surround him. 23 Lo, the river overfloweth — he startleth not: he is confident though a Jordan break forth against his mouth. 24 Shall he be taken in front? will they pierce through his nose in the trap?
1 Domnul a vorbit lui Iov și a zis:
2 „Ești încredințat acum tu, care vorbeștiCap. 33:13. împotriva Celui Atotputernic?
Tu, care mustri pe Dumnezeu, mai ai vreun răspuns de dat?"
3 Iov a răspuns Domnului și a zis:
4 „Iată, eu sunt preaEzra 9:6. Cap. 42:6.Ps. 51:4. mic. Ce să-Ți răspund?
Îmi pun mâna la gură.
5 Am vorbit o dată, și nu voi mai răspunde;
de două ori, și nu voi mai adăuga nimic."
6 DomnulCap. 38:1. a răspuns lui Iov din mijlocul furtunii și a zis:
7 „Încinge-ți mijloculCap. 38:3. ca un viteaz
ca EuCap. 42:4. să te întreb, și tu să Mă înveți.
8 VreiPs. 51:4.Rom. 3:4. să nimicești până și dreptatea Mea?
Și să Mă osândești, ca să-ți scoți dreptatea?
9 Ai tu un braț ca al lui Dumnezeu
și un glas de tunetCap. 37:4.Ps. 29:3,4. ca al Lui?
10 Împodobește-te cuPs. 93:1;104:1. măreție și mărime,
îmbracă-te cu strălucire și cu slavă!
11 Varsă-ți valurile mâniei tale
și doboară cu o privire pe cei trufași!
12 Smerește cu o privire pe ceiIs. 2:12.Dan. 4:37. trufași,
zdrobește pe loc pe cei răi,
13 ascunde-i pe toți împreună în țărână,
învelește-le fața în întuneric!
14 Și atunci voi aduce și Eu laudă
puterii dreptei tale.
15 Uită-te la hipopotamul căruia i-am dat viață, ca și ție!
El mănâncă iarbă ca boul.
16 Uită-te ce tărie are în coapse
și ce putere are în mușchii pântecelui său!
17 Își îndoaie coada tare ca un cedru
și vinele coapselor lui sunt întrețesute.
18 Oasele lui sunt ca niște țevi de aramă,
mădularele lui sunt ca niște drugi de fier.
19 El este cea mai mare dintre lucrările lui Dumnezeu.
Cel ce l-a făcut l-a înzestrat cu o suliță40:19 Adică dinți mari, ca să se apere..
20 El își găsește hranaPs. 104:14. în munți,
unde se joacă toate fiarele câmpului.
21 Se culcă sub lotus,
în mijlocul trestiilor și mlaștinilor.
22 Desișul lotusului îl acoperă cu umbra lui,
sălciile pârâului îl înconjoară.
23 Dacă se întâmplă ca râul să iasă din matcă, el nu fuge:
chiar de s-ar năpusti Iordanul în gâtlejul lui, el ar rămâne liniștit.
24 Crezi că-l poți prinde lovindu-l în față?
Sau crezi că-i vei putea străpunge nasul cu ajutorul lațurilor?
