1 And Bildad the Shuhite answered and said, 2 How long wilt thou speak these things? and the words of thy mouth be a strong wind? 3 Doth ·GodGodHebrew: El pervert judgment, and the Almighty pervert justice? 4 If thy children have sinned against him, he hath also given them over into the hand of their transgression. 5 If thou seek earnestly unto ·GodGodHebrew: El and make thy supplication to the Almighty, 6 If thou be pure and upright, surely now he will awake for thee, and make the habitation of thy righteousness prosperous; 7 And though thy beginning was small, yet thine end shall be very great.
8 For inquire, I pray thee, of the former generation, and attend to the researches of their fathers; 9 For we are but of yesterday, and know nothing, for our days upon earth are a shadow. 10 Shall not they teach thee, and tell thee, and utter words out of their heart? 11 Doth the papyrus shoot up without mire? doth the reed-grass grow without water? 12 Whilst it is yet in its greenness and not cut down, it withereth before any other grass. 13 So are the paths of all that forget ·GodGodHebrew: El and the profane man’s hope shall perish, 14 Whose confidence shall be cut off, and his reliance is a spider’s web. 15 He shall lean upon his house, and it shall not stand; he shall lay hold on it, but it shall not endure. 16 He is full of sap before the sun, and his sprout shooteth forth over his garden; 17 His roots are entwined about the stoneheap; he seeth the place of stones. 18 If he destroy him from his place, then it shall deny him: I have not seen thee! 19 Behold, this is the joy of his way, and out of the dust shall others grow.
20 Behold, ·GodGodHebrew: El will not cast off a perfect man, neither will he take evil-doers by the hand. 21 Whilst he would fill thy mouth with laughing and thy lips with shouting, 22 They that hate thee shall be clothed with shame, and the tent of the wicked be no more.

2 „Până când vrei să vorbești astfel
și până când vor fi cuvintele gurii tale ca un vânt puternic?
3 Oare va răsturnaGen. 18:25.Deut. 32:4.2 Cron. 19:7. Cap. 34:12,17.Dan. 9:14.Rom. 3:5. Dumnezeu dreptul?
Sau va răsturna Cel Atotputernic dreptatea?
4 Dacă fiii tăi au păcătuitCap. 1:5,18. împotriva Lui,
i-a dat pe mâna păcatului.
5 Dar tu, dacăCap. 5:8;11:13;22:23. alergi la Dumnezeu,
dacă rogi pe Cel Atotputernic,
6 dacă ești curat și fără prihană,
atunci, negreșit, El va veghea asupra ta
și va da înapoi fericirea locuinței tale nevinovate.
7 Vechea ta propășire va fi mică
față de cea de mai târziu.
8 ÎntreabăDeut. 4:32;32:7. Cap. 15:18. pe cei din neamurile trecute
și ia aminte la pățania părinților lor.
9 Căci noiGen. 47:9.1 Cron. 29:18. Cap. 7:6.Ps. 39:5;102:11;144:4. suntem de ieri și nu știm nimic,
zilele noastre pe pământ nu sunt decât o umbră.
10 Ei te vor învăța, îți vor vorbi
și vor scoate din inima lor aceste cuvinte:
11 ‘Crește papura fără baltă?
Crește trestia fără umezeală?’
12 Fiind încăPs. 129:6.Ier. 17:6. verde și fără să se taie,
ea se usucă mai repede decât toate ierburile.
13 Așa se întâmplă tuturor celor ce uită pe Dumnezeu,
și nădejdeaCap. 11:20;18:14;27:8.Ps. 112:10.Prov. 10:28. celui nelegiuit va pieri.
14 Încrederea lui este zdrobită,
și sprijinul lui este o pânză de păianjen.
15 Se bizuieșteCap. 27:18. pe casa lui, dar nu este tare;
se prinde de ea, dar nu ține.
16 Cum dă soarele, înverzește,
își întinde ramurile peste grădina sa,
17 își împletește rădăcinile printre pietre,
pătrunde până în ziduri.
18 Dar, dacă-l smulgiCap. 7:10;20:9.Ps. 37:36. din locul în care stă,
locul acesta se leapădă de el și zice:
‘Nu știu să te fi cunoscut vreodată!’
19 Iată, așa sunt desfătările pe care i le aduc căile vieții lui;
apoi dinPs. 113:7. același pământ răsar alții după el.
20 Nu, Dumnezeu nu leapădă pe omul fără prihană
și nu ocrotește pe cei răi.
21 Ba încă, El îți umple gura cu strigăte de bucurie,
și buzele cu cântări de veselie.
22 Vrăjmașii tăi vor fi acoperițiPs. 35:26;109:29. de rușine,
iar cortul celor răi va pieri."
