1 Esta é a mensagem de Jeová para Ciro, o ungido de Deus, que ele escolheu para que conquiste muitas terras. Deus deu força ao seu braço, e esmagará o poder de reis poderosos. Deus abrir-lhe-á as portas de Babilónia, as quais nunca mais se lhe fecharão na frente.2 Irei diante de ti, Ciro, nivelarei os montes no teu caminho, arrombarei as portas trancadas com barras de ferro.3 Dar-te-ei riquezas escondidas em lugares sem luz, tesouros secretos, e saberás que sou eu quem faz isso, eu, o Senhor, o Deus de Israel, aquele que te chama pelo teu nome.4 E afinal, por que razão te nomeei para esse trabalho? Por causa de Jacob, meu servo, Israel, o meu eleito. Chamei-te pelo teu nome, ainda mesmo antes de me conheceres.5 Eu sou Jeová; não há outro Deus. Dar-te-ei força e encaminhar-te-ei para a vitória ainda mesmo que não me conheças.6 Todo o mundo, de oriente ao ocidente, verificará que não há outro Deus. Eu sou Jeová, e não há outro Senhor para além de mim. Só eu sou Deus.7 Faço a luz e faço as trevas. Sou eu quem tem domínio sobre os bons como sobre os maus tempos. Eu, Jeová, sou quem faz estas coisas.8 Que os céus derramem a justiça. Abra-se a terra e que a salvação e a justiça se espalhem, pois que fui eu, Jeová, quem as criou.9 Ai do homem que luta contra o seu Criador! Será que o vaso de barro se põe a argumentar contra o oleiro que o fabricou? Já alguma vez se viu o barro a disputar com aquele entre cujas mãos está a ser moldado, e dizer: Eh! Pára aí! Isso não é assim que se faz!10 E se a bilha se pusesse a exclamar desta maneira: Mas que desajeitado que és! Infeliz da criança que dissesse para os pais: Porque é que me geraram?11 Jeová, o santo de Israel, o criador de Israel, diz: Que direito têm vocês de contestar aquilo que faço? Quem são vocês para me dar ordens ou indicações quanto ao trabalho das minhas mãos?12 Fiz a Terra e criei o homem para viver nela. Com as minhas próprias mãos criei o firmamento e comando todo o universo das estrelas.13 Sou pois o mesmo que suscitei Ciro para dar cumprimento aos meus justos propósitos; por isso guiá-lo-ei em todos os seus caminhos. Restaurará a minha cidade e libertará o meu povo cativo. E não o fará na esperança duma recompensa!14 Diz Jeová: Os egípcios, os etíopes, e os habitantes de Sabá ser-te-ão sujeitos. Virão ter contigo, com as suas riquezas, com tudo o que produzem, e serão teus. Seguir-te-ão como prisioneiros em cadeias, dobrarão os seus joelhos perante ti e dirão: O único Deus que existe é o teu!15 Na verdade, ó Deus de Israel, ó salvador, tens formas misteriosas de agir.16 Todos os que adoram ídolos ficarão decepcionados.17 Mas Israel será salvo por Jeová com uma salvação eterna; nunca serão desiludidos pelo seu Deus, por toda a eternidade.18 Porque Jeová criou os céus e a Terra; pôs tudo no seu lugar. Fez a Terra para que fosse habitada, e não para que ficasse vazia ou no caos. Eu sou Jeová, diz ele, e não há outro como eu!19 Não foram coisas obscuras que balbuciei num canto escuro. Nunca mandei Israel inquirir de mim aquilo que nunca planeei dar-lhe! Não, porque eu, Jeová, só anuncio a verdade e o que é recto.20 Reúnam-se e venham juntas, vocês as nações que escaparam a Ciro. Que loucura essa, a de fazer procissões com ídolos esculpidos, e dirigir rezas a deuses que não podem salvar!21 Cheguem-se então, discutam entre si se vale a pena adorar um ídolo! Quem, senão só Deus, pôde dar a garantia de que tudo isto viria a acontecer? Alguma vez algum ídolo vos prometeu algum acontecimento futuro? É porque não há outro Deus além de mim, um Deus justo, um salvador; não há um só sequer!22 Por isso, olhem para mim e serão salvos vocês todos os habitantes do mundo inteiro. Pois que eu sou Deus. Não há outro.23 Jurei, por mim mesmo, e nunca volto atrás com a minha palavra dada: Todo o joelho se dobrará perante mim, e toda a língua jurará submissão ao meu nome.24 Só em Jeová há justiça e poder, será o que toda a gente há-de declarar. E todos os que se revoltaram contra ele voltarão confundidos na sua presença.25 Em Jeová todas as gerações de Israel serão justificadas e serão triunfantes.

1 Thus saith the LORD to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have held to subdue nations before him; and I will loose the loins of kings, to open before him the two-leaved gates, and the gates shall not be shut;2 I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight: I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut asunder the bars of iron:3 And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that I, the LORD, who call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel.4 For Jacob my servant's sake, and Israel my elect, I have even called thee by thy name: I have surnamed thee, though thou hast not known me:5 I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God besides me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me:6 That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none besides me. I am the LORD, and there is none else.7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.8 Drop down, ye heavens, from above, and let the skies pour down righteousness: let the earth open, and let them bring forth salvation, and let righteousness spring up together; I the LORD have created it.9 Woe to him that contendeth with his Maker! Let the potsherd contend with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou? or thy work, He hath no hands?10 Woe to him that saith to his father, What begettest thou? or to the woman, What hast thou brought forth?11 Thus saith the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker, Ask me of things to come concerning my sons, and concerning the work of my hands command ye me.12 I have made the earth, and created man upon it: I, even my hands, have stretched out the heavens, and all their host have I commanded.13 I have raised him up in righteousness, and I will direct all his ways: he shall build my city, and he shall let go my captives, not for price nor reward, saith the LORD of hosts.14 Thus saith the LORD, The labor of Egypt, and merchandise of Cush and of the Sabeans, men of stature, shall come over to thee, and they shall be thine: they shall come after thee; in chains they shall come over, and they shall fall down to thee, they shall make supplication to thee, saying, Surely God is in thee; and there is none else, there is no God.15 Verily thou art a God that hidest thyself, O God of Israel, the Savior.16 They shall be ashamed, and also confounded, all of them: they shall go to confusion together that are makers of idols.17 But Israel shall be saved in the LORD with an everlasting salvation: ye shall not be ashamed nor confounded world without end.18 For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else.19 I have not spoken in secret, in a dark place of the earth: I have not said to the seed of Jacob, Seek ye me in vain: I the LORD speak righteousness, I declare things that are right.20 Assemble yourselves and come; draw near together, ye that have escaped of the nations: they have no knowledge that set up the wood of their graven image, and pray to a god that cannot save.21 Tell ye, and bring them near; yes, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the LORD? and there is no God else besides me; a just God and a Savior; there is none besides me.22 Look to me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.23 I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That to me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.24 Surely, shall one say, in the LORD have I righteousness and strength: even to him shall men come; and all that are incensed against him shall be ashamed.25 In the LORD shall all the seed of Israel be justified, and shall glory.
